I recently went to Phuket, Thailand and I brought my paints with me. I wanted to paint a tropical beach and some palm trees I went to Kata Beach and I decided to paint the beach outdoors, known as painting 'en plein air'.
As well as studio painting I also love painting outdoors as I think its a great way of documenting the places I've been to...but in paintings. Outdoor painting known as painting 'en plein air' really captures the atmosphere and feeling of a place and it'll help you improve your painting skills.
It was a hot, sunny and hazy day and what with Thailand being in the tropics, it's very humid. I painted this tropical beach scene at Kata Beach, I'll show you how I painted it.
If you would like to paint along with this, check out the link below for the written notes that accompany this video. Feel free to copy the painting and copy / use the reference photos that are in the written tutorial.
