In this video we discuss filtering spirits after distillation. This is normally the final step of polishing spirits but aging and maturing can also be the final step. It doesn't really matter when you filter after distilling but it is more important that you do filter. Un-filtered spirits have a tendency to retain a few off-flavors from the distillation process and removing them will ensure that your product is as good as it can get. If you filter before or after aging in wood chips (or barrel) you will definitely notice a difference in the flavor and character of your spirit.

In this video tutorial, learn how to create a dynamic Excel filter. This dynamic Excel filter allows you to type the filter text in a text box and instantly extracts the records as you type in the search bar. This Dynamic Excel filter can be created in 3 steps: -- Getting a unique list of items (countries in this case). This would be used in creating the drop down list. -- Creating the search box. Here I have used a Combo Box (ActiveX Control). -- Setting the Data. Here I would use three helper columns with formulas to extract the matching data. You can use this dynamic Excel filter when you have a huge dataset and you want to quickly filter it by entering the text. Since this is dynamic, you can remove the existing filter by simply deleting the text in the text box and type something else to filter based on it. Excel Advanced Filter is one of the most underrated and under-utilized features that I have come across. If you work with Excel, I am sure you have used (or at least heard about the regular Excel filter). It quickly filters a data set based on selection, specified text, number or other such criteria. In this video, I will show you some cool stuff you can do using the Excel advanced filter. This video on Excel Advanced Filter covers how to: - To extract a list of unique items - To filter records using multiple AND criteria - such as sales rep name and geography. - To filter records using multiple OR criteria - such as sales rep is Joe OR John - To filter records using wildcard characters - filter records with sales rep name beginning with J - To use numerical conditions - filter records with sales more than 20000 You can read more about Excel Advanced Filter here: https://trumpexcel.com/excel-advanced-filter/ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Find Amazing Online Excel Tips and Tricks: https://trumpexcel.com/ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Let's Connect: Google+ ► https://plus.google.com/+Trumpexcel Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/Trumpexcel Twitter ► https://twitter.com/TrumpExcel Pinterest ► https://in.pinterest.com/trumpexcel/ TrumpExcel Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/trumpexcel

If you found this video useful, please be sure to subscribe to our channel and be sure to check out https://MoonshineDistiller.com Video Transcription: Howdy folks, I'm Jeff from Moonshine Distiller, and welcome back to the final episode of our Heads series. In this episode, we're going to be going over our carbon filter unit. The unit itself is comprised of this hopper style funnel (which actually can be turned over and double as a domed lid for your boiler), the clamp and gasket that hold the funnel to the filter tube, and a 24" stainless steel filter tube. So, take your activated carbon. 1.5 pounds, which is the quantity we sell it in, should be just about enough to fill this 24 inch tube. Put it in a bowl or a pot or anything you can mix it in with water. At this point, you're probably going to want to let it sit overnight. The carbon actually has a little bit of air trapped in it, so a lot of the particle will float to the surface. Letting it sit overnight and settle, will allow this air to escape, and the carbon to become saturated by water. Luckily, to save time, we have one that has already sat overnight. After it sits overnight, give it a stir and let it settle for an hour or two. Then pour the liquid off the top. You will loose a little bit of carbon that is still floating on the top, but it shouldn't be a significant amount. Again, you can add more water, stir it again, and let it settle for another hour or two. Generally, I do this 2 or 3 times before adding it to the filter unit. To assemble the filter unit, I usually use one of our 3 gallon boilers as a collection container, because then from there with the drain valve on the bottom I can dispense it into bottles or mix it with essences or really do whatever I want with it. To use this as a filter unit and base, all you need to do is take a couple coffee filters (I generally use anywhere in the range of 4 to 6), but the slower it drains the better and the more filters the slower it drains. You're going to clamp the coffee filters between the ferrule on the lid of the boiler and the ferrule on the end of the filter unit. However, just so you can see the alternate way of doing it, and additionally, so you can see how slow the filtering process actually is, we're just going to put coffee filters over the end, slide your 2" hose clamp (available at most local hardware stores) over the top, and screw into place so that it holds the coffee filters in place during the filtration process. Next you're going to want to make sure there's enough water in your carbon so that you can stir it and the carbon will be suspended in the water. Flip the filter unit over and put the end in something that will help contain the water as you pour the carbon into the unit. Again, make sure the carbon is suspended by creating a little bit of a whirlpool action and then dump the carbon into the filter unit. Depending upon how well you did at suspending the carbon, you may need a little more water to get the last of the carbon out into the filter unit. The water should help the carbon settle into place and keep it void of any air pockets. As you can see, there's already a little bit of water coming out into the mason jar here. After the water drains out, you can position the unit above your collection vessel (which can be anything), and start adding your spirits. Generally, when you're filtering your moonshine, you want it to be about 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume. As we mentioned earlier, a lot of compounds like the fusel oils are more soluble in alcohol and less soluble once the water percentage increases. So, by watering it down a little bit, the fusel oils are more easily trapped by the carbon. You can see that we have a slow trickle coming out. This might even be a little bit fast, to be honest. Like I said, we've got about 5 filters here in place, and I generally use 6 or more. The more you use, the slower it will filter and the better your product will taste in the end. Additionally, if you don't feel like standing here and holding it for a couple hours while it filters, you can use these little hooks to hook it onto something to keep it upright. So, now you can see that the water is almost completely drained, we're going to take the moonshine from the previous run, and add it to the hopper. The hopper itself holds about a gallon, so you should be able to add 3 (maybe 4) quart jars before it's full. Now it's just a waiting game and we've got our first batch of moonshine ready to go. As always, thanks for tuning in, and be sure to keep an eye out for our Hearts series.

Learn about how to use the filter web part from Tom Robbins. Transcript: Today were going to talk about SharePoint 2013 and how to use the filter web part. There are about 25- 30 out of the box web parts with SharePoint 2013. Some are obvious as to what they do, where some require some serious configurations including learning to write some code. What I want to do is break down how to use the filter web part. The filter web part allows us to filter based on meta data in lists or libraries to that we can customize the look and feel of the pages to suit our audience. Its similar to audience targeting but different. Lets get started. I've got a task list here. As I scroll down, you'll notice that my tasks for ease of demonstration are each associated with a specific project faze. You will notice I've got the phase here. Then I also have a document library that is classified and categorized by faze. What I'd like to be able to do is see the task list and document library on the same page, but I'd like to be able to quickly filter out and only see certain phases. Lets say I just want to see documents in the initiation phase along side tasks in the initiation phase. I've got a completed page here to show you what I'm talking about. On the right I've got the document library and there is no filtering and I've got the task list and there is no filtering on it either. You'll notice up here on the top, I've placed a choice filter. I can simply start typing in what I want to search on or I can pick from the drop down box on the right. If I choose initiation phase, now I just see the documents and tasks that that are in the initiation phase. It allows me to filter what has been seen on the page. I can switch to the planning phase or I can clear my filter and go back to using the default view. That's basically what the choice filter web part will allow you to do. Lets take a look at another page where I have not yet built that filter web part. Notice there is no filter web part yet, so that is what I'm going to show you how to do. First lets go into edit mode, and then on this wiki page just above the task list, well insert the choice filter web part. Now it is on the page. To make it behave like a normal web part, you have to click on it to make the toolbar appear at the top and the web part properties. Once you have done that, we need to go in and give it the actual values that will match the phases within the task list as well as the document library. Then we will just apply the ones you have added. Now if you scroll up you'll notice that the web part has changed its behavior a little bit. Now there is an expand window that allows you to do connections. So what we need to do now is connect this web part to the document library and task list and tell it to filter based on our choices. We do that with the web part connections. In the connections, we are going to send the values in the choice filter first over to the task list and get filter values and then tie them to the phase field. You are going to do the same thing for the document library. Click finish. Then you can rename the filter phase filter. Now when we save the page, we need to test the filter to see if it works. We'll click on initiation phase and notice the documents on the right and task on the left are sorted by initiation phase. This is a great way to give users the ability to filter out what they see on the screen when it comes from multiple lists and libraries. The only thing missing here is how to clear out and go back to no filter at all. One of the options of the choice filter web part, if we go into the web part properties, is the part under the advanced filter options to show an empty value. Basically that clears your filter. See the follow-up video here: https://youtu.be/-rBdqlBbNDE ND, UV, and polarizing filters can get expensive, they're a pain to use, they reduce your image quality, and you NEVER seem to have them when you need them! I show you how to get better results without using filters, saving you money and time. Share with your friends to save them some cash! Regarding polarizing filters: Several people have commented that polarizing filters cut glare and reflection, and you can't replicate that in Photoshop. That's true, and I do demonstrate it in the video. Yes, you can create scenarios where a polarizing filter does something unique. However, in many years of shooting, I've rarely found that removing the glare creates a "good" picture. Back in the film days, I used a polarizing filter almost constantly--anytime I was outdoors, and often indoors. I probably learned from the same old photography books that you learned from, and that was common practice. In the film era, post-processing wasn't usually an option, and polarizing filters really did often produce better pictures. As I moved to digital, I continued to use the polarizing filter. Often, I would take a shot (say, of a waterfall) and then realize I forgot to put on my polarizing filter. So, I'd attach my polarizing filter (as my teachers had always taught me) and take a second shot. I took dozens, maybe more than 100, of these accidental before-and-after shots. Virtually every single time, the shot without the polarizing filter looked better. If anything, it just needed the blue sky luminance dropped a bit for a prettier sky (as I demonstrate in the video). There were times when the shot with the polarizing filter looked better--but those were never "good" shots, anyway. For example, if you want to take a picture of koi fish in a pond, using a polarizing filter will better show the fish. But, did you make enough from that koi fish picture to pay for the polarizing filter and the time you spent connecting the filter? I've done that exact shot. I didn't make any money from it, and nobody cared about it, because it's a picture of fish in a pond, and that's pretty boring. Even then, in my personal opinion, the shot without the polarizing filter looked better because it showed the glare on the top of the water. That's natural; that's what our eyes see. The polarizing filter is like an irreversable Instagram filter. It changes your photo in an unnatural way. Commenters pointed out some legit uses for a polarizing filter. One commenter reproduces artwork in controlled conditions, and that's a great reason to use a polarizing filter. Another commenter photographs cars by stacking multiple photos of them, adjusting the polarizer effect up and down, and then carefully painting in different parts from each picture with the best amount of glare. Those are legit uses, and those people should use polarizing filters. But those aren't common uses. Before you say I'm wrong and that photographers should spend $80 on a good polarizing, carry it around, and attach and remove it as needed, take this challenge: the next time you reach for your polarizing filter, take a shot without it. Then, take your normal polarized shot. Do this for a few months... and look at the before-and-after results of those pictures you'd actually want to share or print. Now, ask yourself these questions: * How often is the polarized shot really better? * In a blind test, how often do other people think the polarized shot is better? * Can you easily recreate the positive effects of the polarizer in post-processing? * If you found shareable pictures made better with the polarizer, was it worth the cost and trouble of the filter? * Would you recommend a new photographer spend $80 (per lens filter diameter) on polarizing filters, carry those polarizers around everywhere, and attach and remove them when necessary? I've done that test quite gradually over the last 15 years... and, as you know, I've decided I can't recommend new photographers buy polarizers. They don't seem like the best use of a photographer's time and money. I'm open to other opinion, though, especially if you can show me actual with-and-without pictures. I'm just one guy, with one set of experiences, and I appreciate hearing other points of view. Give me your side-by-side results. Change my mind with evidence! You can try linking your photos in the comments, but if that doesn't work, tweet me (TonyNorthrup) or even email me ([email protected]).

In this video, the first of a 2-part series, I show how to load Data on Demand (without using R Scripts) by limiting the data to a unique value in one of the columns. Data on Demand is used when you have an external data table, but you don't want to load all of the data in Spotfire because it's either 1. irrelevant to your analysis 2. so large that it would slow down Spotfire. I have a SQL Server database table with over 8 million rows of data, but in this example, we're only loading wells with production from the Mississippi formation.
