Learn more about cleaning data with R: https://www.datacamp.com/courses/cleaning-data-in-r Hi, I'm Nick. I'm a data scientist at DataCamp and I'll be your instructor for this course on Cleaning Data in R. Let's kick things off by looking at an example of dirty data. You're looking at the top and bottom, or head and tail, of a dataset containing various weather metrics recorded in the city of Boston over a 12 month period of time. At first glance these data may not appear very dirty. The information is already organized into rows and columns, which is not always the case. The rows are numbered and the columns have names. In other words, it's already in table format, similar to what you might find in a spreadsheet document. We wouldn't be this lucky if, for example, we were scraping a webpage, but we have to start somewhere. Despite the dataset's deceivingly neat appearance, a closer look reveals many issues that should be dealt with prior to, say, attempting to build a statistical model to predict weather patterns in the future. For starters, the first column X (all the way on the left) appears be meaningless; it's not clear what the columns X1, X2, and so forth represent (and if they represent days of the month, then we have time represented in both rows and columns); the different types of measurements contained in the measure column should probably each have their own column; there are a bunch of NAs at the bottom of the data; and the list goes on. Don't worry if these things are not immediately obvious to you -- they will be by the end of the course. In fact, in the last chapter of this course, you will clean this exact same dataset from start to finish using all of the amazing new things you've learned. Dirty data are everywhere. In fact, most real-world datasets start off dirty in one way or another, but by the time they make their way into textbooks and courses, most have already been cleaned and prepared for analysis. This is convenient when all you want to talk about is how to analyze or model the data, but it can leave you at a loss when you're faced with cleaning your own data. With the rise of so-called "big data", data cleaning is more important than ever before. Every industry - finance, health care, retail, hospitality, and even education - is now doggy-paddling in a large sea of data. And as the data get bigger, the number of things that can go wrong do too. Each imperfection becomes harder to find when you can't simply look at the entire dataset in a spreadsheet on your computer. In fact, data cleaning is an essential part of the data science process. In simple terms, you might break this process down into four steps: collecting or acquiring your data, cleaning your data, analyzing or modeling your data, and reporting your results to the appropriate audience. If you try to skip the second step, you'll often run into problems getting the raw data to work with traditional tools for analysis in, say, R or Python. This could be true for a variety of reasons. For example, many common algorithms require variables to be arranged into columns and for missing values to be either removed or replaced with non-missing values, neither of which was the case with the weather data you just saw. Not only is data cleaning an essential part of the data science process - it's also often the most time-consuming part. As the New York Times reported in a 2014 article called "For Big-Data Scientists, ‘Janitor Work’ Is Key Hurdle to Insights", "Data scientists ... spend from 50 percent to 80 percent of their time mired in this more mundane labor of collecting and preparing unruly digital data, before it can be explored for useful nuggets." Unfortunately, data cleaning is not as sexy as training a neural network to identify images of cats on the internet, so it's generally not talked about in the media nor is it taught in most intro data science and statistics courses. No worries, we're here to help. In this course, we'll break data cleaning down into a three step process: exploring your raw data, tidying your data, and preparing your data for analysis. Each of the first three chapters of this course will cover one of these steps in depth, then the fourth chapter will require you to use everything you've learned to take the weather data from raw to ready for analysis. Let's jump right in!

What do you do with a library? The large-scale digital collections scanned by Google and the Internet Archive have opened new ways to interact with books. The scale of digitization, however, also presents a challenge. We must find methods that are powerful enough to model the complexity of culture, but simple enough to scale to millions of books. In this talk I'll discuss one method, statistical topic modeling. I'll begin with an overview of the method. I will then demonstrate how to use such a model to measure changes over time and distinctions between sub-corpora. Finally, I will describe hypothesis tests that help us to distinguish consistent patterns from random variations. David Mimno is a postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Science department at Princeton University. He received his PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Before graduate school, he served as Head Programmer at the Perseus Project, a digital library for cultural heritage materials, at Tufts University. He is supported by a CRA Computing Innovation fellowship.

In this video, we’ll be discussing big data – more specifically, what big data is, the exponential rate of growth of data, how we can utilize the vast quantities of data being generated as well as the implications of linked data on big data. [0:30-7:50] - Starting off we'll look at, how data has been used as a tool from the origins of human evolution, starting at the hunter-gatherer age and leading up to the present information age. Afterwards, we'll look into many statistics demonstrating the exponential rate of growth and future growth of data. [7:50-18:55] - Following that we'll discuss, what exactly big data is and delving deeper into the types of data, structured and unstructured and how they will be analyzed both by humans and machine learning (AI). We'll also discuss the next evolution of data, linked data, and how it will change the world and the web! [18:55-19:55] - To conclude we'll briefly overview the role cloud computing will play with big data! PrepareWithBill Food Storage You Can Depend On. https://preparewith.com/Bill.Still (888) 756-8727 Petition Link: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/investigate-october-1st-mass-shooting-las-vegas Good morning, I’m still reporting on: Update - Vegas Security Guard Says “It’s a Big Fat Lie”, 1871 Synopsis: A lot of you have written in wondering what happened to this report. It disappeared for a day. We first published this report about 10pm Eastern on Sunday, Oct. 29th. But the security guard featured in the story got nearly 300 threatening calls before sunrise on Monday from a number his caller identified as 0000. So he called me and asked me to remove his name from the video, but to put the story back up so that people could know the truth. This is a brave, brave American, and we salute you, sir. So, with some modifications, here is the video we first ran on Sunday. On Thursday, Tucker Carlson interviewed David Dickey, the head of Jesus Campos union. He told Tucker that Campos did not need a so-called guard card, that’s why he did not have one. However, on Sunday, we got a call from a 15-year veteran security guard in Las Vegas casinos who called that a “big fat lie.” Let’s take a look at a segment of Tucker’s interview with Mr. Dickey first. Also note that he claimed Campos was treated at a QuickCare Clinit, but this too, is denied by the guard who says these facilities are not allowed to treat gunshot wounds because they don’t even have an x-ray machine as well as other essential equipment for that kind of surgery. Also note that Mr. Hickey says that Mr. Campos was not taken to the QuickCare Clinic until Thursday 11 days after the shooting??? Does that make sense to anyone.? [insert] So here’s a guy who was called a hero because he was evacuating people from rooms while bleeding after he was shot. Remember in version #1 of the story, it was police officers who insisted that he go to the hospital? But then Tucker Carlson the day after the shooting called all the Quick Cares in the city and they reported that Campos had not been there. — Support Our Sponsors: - Nobel Gold & Silver: Protect Your Money With Gold - Click Here- https://goo.gl/kx2yzW Or Call - 888-596-7916 - Jeevy Computers: Move up to business-level cyber protection. https://www.jeevycomputers.com/pcs/ - Learn How To Generate Passive Income Using Bitcoins At: https://www.TradeGeniusAcademy.com Protect Your Information From Big Data - Click Here! https://www.virtualshield.com/billstill Use Promo Code: bill still for 20% OFF SeaShell Diamond Galleries, 808-338-9988, email: [email protected] website: https://www.seashelldiamondgallery.com Still Report BTC address: 18Ky2c3CgPY3eu5N7ySoM3X6NjgEAN2w4v Connect with me; Bill Still: newspaper editor/publisher, economics reporter - top US publications, authored 22 books, 4 documentary videos & daily host of this Y/T channel, THE STILL REPORT: https://plus.google.com/u/0/109353617116072656672 Get the word Out: Please LIKE, COMMENT & SHARE! Get easy access to a free 30-day trial of Salesgenie right now: https://www.salesgenie.com/mw (Limited time offer!) Be sure to download Marc's incredible e-book on "25 Tips to Crush Your Sales Goal!" Just go here to get the e-book instantly: http://www.marcwayshak.com/opt1/ Set More Appointments Tip #1: Create a targeted leads list. If your leads list isn’t high quality, then it doesn't matter if you’re the greatest salesperson on the planet. If you’re selling to the wrong list of people, you’re in trouble. This is why I recommend you use a specific company search to really understand the DNA of your best customer. Use a search tool, such as a leads list company or LinkedIn, to perform a search on your ideal customer. Try to find out: What’s the industry, the revenue, the best contact title? If it's on the consumer side, what's the age of the person, their typical income, their home value? One of my favorite tools for mining leads in a prospecting campaign is Salesgenie. You can get all of your prospects and the best data about them from within their platform. I've worked out a very special deal with Salesgenie to give you a 30-day free trial with unlimited access to their tool, unlimited access to their leads. Set More Appointments Tip #2: Map out your entire prospecting campaign. There is no more winging it. Too many salespeople are just making up their sales prospecting process as they go. It's time to get a clear visual of the entire process. Lay out the entire prospecting process so you know exactly what you’re going to be doing at each point. Set More Appointments Tip #3: Map 20+ touches over the course of a month. The data shows that most salespeople are giving up way too soon with their prospects. In fact, some of the most recent data shows that it requires about 18 touches to get an appointment. That means you really need to stay organized. You need to follow your map, and I recommend that you stay within an existing system. Whether it's your CRM system or it's the Salesgenie tool, stay there and follow your process. Set More Appointments Tip #4: Use all of your tools. A lot of salespeople get really focused on using one tool or another. Maybe they're making just phone calls, or they're only sending emails. But in this day and age you have a suite of so many different tools available to you. You want to use everything at your disposal. You want to have a system of reminders that are going to basically kick you in the butt to get you to take that next step. Now, within a tool like a Salesgenie, you have access to features like dialers, so you can make your calls, send out your voicemails, and send out your emails by using simple templates — whether it's a one-to-one email using canned but personalized templates, or an entire email campaign. Make sure you’re offering something of value every time you email a prospect, though. Set More Appointments Tip #5: Repeat, repeat, repeat, and repeat again. This is not a one-off process. Stay within your chosen system so you can continue to update your leads list and reach out to new people. One of the things I really love about Salesgenie is that managers can actually assign leads to different salespeople to stay really organized within the system. So, be sure to get your free trial with Salesgenie. You can get all of your prospects and the best data about them from within their platform, and you can stay there for all of your prospecting. So, there you have it. Those are 5 easy steps to set more appointments, ultimately turning cold calls into warm calls. I want to hear from you. Which of these ideas do you find most useful? Be sure to share below in the comments section to get involved in the conversation.

Obama data mines 1,000,000+ Facebook users. 🔊 "GENUIS!" exclaims MSM. Trump data mines 270,000 Facebook users in 2016. 🔊 "IMPEACH!" demands MSM. Where was the outcry when OBAMA data mined Facebook users? While the press is falling over itself in search of horrifying adjectives to describe the Facebook “data breach,” calling it the scandal of the century, they seem to have forgotten the way they treated President Obama’s use of data on millions of Facebook users to win reelection in 2012. Back then, Obama was described as a genius - genius! - who figured out how to tap into Facebook’s ocean of Facebook data on users — and their friends — to microtarget messages. Oh, the mystique of the Obama hipsters, so attuned to data, so the trope went. The mastery of data on the data-side and the press's belief that Team Obama was in completely in tune with high tech data-mining was one reason. Unlike then-candidate Trump, THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN COLLECTED THE DATA ITSELF, and used it right up to the election. Anyone who downloaded the Obama 2012 app agreed to give the campaign access to their own data, as well as all the data on their friends, without their permission. More than a million did, which means the campaign had access to tens of millions of unwitting Facebook members. It certainly dwarfs anything the Russians might have done with Facebook and the elections. Meanwhile, Cambridge Analytica used data collected from people who thought would be used only for “academic purposes,” THE SCALE WAS MUCH SMALLER — 270,000. who downloaded that app — and the data was old by the time the election rolled around. It makes one wonder why the reaction to each of these two events was so different. Investor's Business Daily has a good piece on this whole problematic double standard, titled "Funny, When Obama Harvested Facebook Data On Millions Of Users To Win In 2012, Everyone Cheered (see link below)". _________________________________________ ✔️ CNN 2012 report: How Obama successfully used data mining to win the election https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo_oSwZL8AE&t=90s ✔️ Funny, When Obama Harvested Facebook Data On Millions Of Users To Win In 2012, Everyone Cheered: https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/facebook-data-scandal-trump-election-obama-2012/ . ✔️ Former Obama campaign official Carol Davidsen / Personal Democracy Forum presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGiiQUMaShw&t=223s ✔️ So where was the outcry when Obama mined Facebook: https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/03/so_where_was_the_outcry_when_obama_mined_facebook.html
