YouTube GOLD - Eps. 7 I SIT IN IT? UNBOXiNG a 797F MINE TRUCK & RC4WD DOZER | RC ADVENTURES

21:48
I have found my new Chariot to get me around the #YouTubeGOLD mine site! Some new mining equipment has arrived at the site and today we get to learn all about them. #SluiceboxSteve has come by to help unbox two magnificent machines distributed by a USA company "RC4WD". (www.store.RC4WD.com). The two models being uncreated for you today is the "1/14 Scale DXR2 Hydraulic Earth Dozer" Here is a direct link: https://bit.ly/2L4WfcV Simply put.. it is a BEAST! All Metal.. and weighing 58 lbs.. this thing takes real effort to move around. But, when you put a 3s lipo into it.. the machine moves without effort! I have added ISO 32 Hydraulic oil, which is very thin and works so well. The thin oil allows for quick movement in the hydraulic rams and through the hydro block. I have put a replica action figure of my wife into the drivers seat of the Dozer, becuase it is simply a [email protected] @ss, just like her!! Hah! At the time of this filming, this model costs aprox $2699.00 USD + shipping The mining truck is the "1/14 SCALE EARTH HAULER 797F HYDRAULIC MINING TRUCK". Here is a direct link: https://bit.ly/2uyBrAu Steve and I were stunned, and almost speechless when we uncreated this machine. I am actually changing the name of this model to the "FMDT". The "Frickin' Massive Dump Truck". It is one of the largest RC vehicles I have had at the mine, and it is ALL METAL! RTR (Ready to Run) and weighing in at 220 lbs - this dump truck is the largest dump truck I have ever seen in person. It arrived by freight (which means on a full size SEMI TRUCK), and it is simply a wonder to behold in person. There are no servos to turn the tires. It is actually a MOTOR that moves steering rods. This truck can carry a payload of 440 lbs!! The Battery can be up to a 22,000mah 3s Lipo, OR a DEEP CYCLE 12v DC Battery. I will show you that in the coming weeks.. as I already have one here at my show. The cost of this model is $4000 USD, + shipping. Now that we have these products here at the mine, we are going to be able to move the yardage we are hoping for. Like I said ever since Episode 1 - I will do what ever it takes to reach my season goal of 1/2 an ounce.. and I think its very achievable. I hope you have been enjoying YouTube GOLD! Now.. it is time to get to work.. and move some dirt. Im hunting gold.. like a retriever hunts a dead duck.. Ill sniff it out.. and put it in the sluice box! A lot of folks think that I am building a miniature mine site.. and in some ways I certainly am. I am building a scaled down version of a mine site.. that can ACTUALLY GET GOLD! YouTubeGOLD is a parody series based around the GOLD Shows of TV that we all know and love. #GoldRush #YukonGold #BeringSeaGold all of these are shows that my family enjoy seeing! I have always known that making a GOLD MINE would be possible with RC models.. and finally I get to realize this dream. What Is Fracking?

03:01
You’ve heard of fracking, and you’re pretty sure lots of people don’t like it, but do you know how it actually works? Learn more at HowStuffWorks.com: http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/energy/hydraulic-fracking.htm Share on Facebook: http://goo.gl/M5kx1i Share on Twitter: http://goo.gl/FbuzEW Subscribe: http://goo.gl/ZYI7Gt Visit our site: http://www.brainstuffshow.com Fracking. You’ve heard of it. You know it’s controversial. But you might not know what it actually involves. Never fear: We’re here to put some fracking knowledge in your brain. Fracking is the delightfully cheeky-sounding nickname for Hydraulic Fracturing... which sounds a little bit less delightful and more like something you do to your enemies in Starcraft. But no! It is something we do to rocks. In the simplest terms, hydraulic fracturing is a way of getting more of the valuable fluids, like oil and natural gas, out of geologic formations under the ground. Deep under earth’s surface, there are deposits of rock that have huge reserves of oil and natural gas within them. But these fossil fuels aren’t like big lakes where you can just stick a straw in and suck. No, these reserves of oil and natural gas are found locked up in pores distributed throughout vast layers of rock, like shale. So how do you get them out at a reasonable pace? Let’s look at a typical fracking setup for something like shale gas: You start with a deep, vertical well, drilling a hole down to the level of the shale you want to mine. The depth will vary, but just for example, one company claims its average fracking well depth is 7,700 feet. That’s deep: almost one and a half miles, or about 2.3 kilometers. When you’re at the right depth, you take a 90-degree turn and continue to drill horizontally, parallel to the target rock layer. This horizontal section of the well can also travel thousands of feet. Now here’s where the “fracturing” comes in. First, you open up holes in the horizontal section of the pipe. Then, you vigorously push a liquid cocktail known as fracking fluid down into the borehole under high pressure. This fracking fluid is usually a mixture of water, some chemical additives -- like acids to help dissolve the rock, and gels to thicken the fluid -- and finally, solid particles called proppants – we’ll get to those in a second. When the mixture reaches the horizontal section of the pipe, it bleeds out through the holes into the surrounding rock, and the extremely high pressure causes the rock to form tons of little fractures, or cracks. Through these cracks, the reserves of fossil fuels contained in the rock can escape into the well to be pumped back up to the surface. What once was entombed in ancient rock is now on the way to powering your car or heating the water for your next shower. And those proppants I mentioned, which are often just grains of sand, help “prop” the cracks in the rock open, so the Earth’s precious bodily fluids continue to escape into the well without the miners applying continuous pressure. So that’s how it works, but then there’s the entirely separate question of whether fracking is a good idea. It’s controversial in many parts of the world. Some people claim it consumes too much fresh water, and worry about what will be done with the fracking fluid after it’s been used. And some opponents wonder if it will create earthquakes, or cause chemical contaminants to leak into our groundwater. Fracking explained: opportunity or danger

05:04
Fracking explained in five minutes. Fracking is a controversial topic. On the one side the gas drilling companies, on the other citizen opposed to this drilling method. Politicians are also divided on the matter. We try to take a neutral look on fracking. It is relevant for all of us, because of high prices for energy and the danger for our drinking water. This video focuses mostly on the debate currently ongoing in europe. In a lot of european countries there is a public outcry against fracking, espacially in germany. But the facts in this video are relevant to all of us. Short videos, explaining things. For example Evolution, the Universe, Stock Market or controversial topics like Fracking. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Mining Machinery Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that applies the principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and mining engineering for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mining equipment. It includes study of various aspects of equipment used in earthworks, mineral processing, bulk material handling, drilling and construction. Surface mining equipment evolved at a high pace in the 20th century as the scale of mining grew up. In the first twenty years of the 1900s, steam power was largely replaced by internal combustion engines and electric motors. Till the 1970s such equipment mainly used mechanical system and cables for power transmission after which they started to be replaced by hydraulic drive system for small machines. However, mechanical and cable drives are still dominant in large machines. Similar development took place in the development of underground machinery. Drilling and blasting replaced manual cutting of ores. Lately, use of continuous mining machines has become order of the day to comply with environmental regulations, protect surface features and also to achieve increased production rate. As the concern for safety in mines increased and highly stringent regulations were put in place, it required mining machinery engineers to be highly conversant with such regulations. Since Mining Machinery Engineering is a wholesome branch, the course of which covers disciplines like Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Electrical Engineering, the employment opportunities are tremendous. Mining Machinery Engineering provides excellent career opportunities in various industries such as mining, heavy earth moving equipment, construction industry, mineral processing and other related industries. It is recognized by the Ministry of Labor, Government of India as equivalent to mechanical and electrical engineering for working in mines. The unique branch of Mining Machinery has a plethora of recruitment scope. Every single engineer of Mining Machinery Engineering has a vast on site experience of Machines deployed in both opencast as well as underground mines along with this, students are well versed with various bulk solid handling equipment like crushers, conveyors, feeders etc. The course of Mining Machinery Engineering also caters to construction equipment like Motor Graders, Dozers, Compactors etc. The amount of cost saved by the company hiring Mining Machinery Engineering graduates is quite high as every Mining Machinery Engineer has a multi-disciplinary approach towards solving problems owing to their vast area of expertise.

TEDx Talk Hydraulic Hydro Storage

15:43
New: Webinar https://youtu.be/w6VH9fodea8 The TEDx talk slides withe the original sound track! Our energy system is outdated; coal, gas and oil are finite. Independent of the definite date of exhaustion, we have to change to renewables. Another reason is global warming; we have to reduce our carbon emission. This switch is not easy; there is one major block on the road: Storage. Storage is the key to renewable energy. Let's try to understand the global growth of renewable energy, special the growth of photovoltaic. In this plot, I present the installed capacity of photovoltaic. The scaling is logarithmic, that means, every major line is a factor of ten. We start in the ninety's, only 100MW of photovoltaic where installed, mainly in the US. What happened during the last two decades? At the beginning of the nineties, the US was the leading photovoltaic country. Then came Japan with a strong growth of photovoltaic, overtaken by Germany in the new century. But the race is on, Spain, Italy, Australia, even Canada and others have a steep development. On a global scale, even the growth rate is growing. And in 2012 we crossed the 100GW as I learned yesterday! In the case that the growth rate is 30% every year, what will happen? Within the next decade, the production of photovoltaic power reaches the global demand for electricity. My idea is, don't pump water up the hill, pump water below the hill, lift the hill and store the energy! That is the basic idea of the Hydraulic Hydro Storage To build such a system, we have to look into the ground. We want to cut free a block, the size of a stadium. The first step is, to dig a shaft in the ground. From there we drill two circular service tunnels. From the surface, we drill holes into the ground, to guide the sawing strings. Sawing strings, as used in a quarry, cut out the surface of the cylinder. Then we can lift the cylinder, but don't forget the O-rings to seal the system. All the necessary technologies are well known in the mining industry. Assuming, we are able to cut free such a huge block, the physical properties are amazing. The cylinder should have a regular shape, as high as the diameter. This means, the height is two times the radius. And we can lift the cylinder up to a height of the radius r. If we would move it beyond r, it could get stuck, not a god idea for such a huge block. Calculating the mass of this block is simple, it is proportional to the third power of the radius. The height we can lift the block is r. The Calculation of the storage capacity is straight forward; the rule is strength of the gravitation, multiplied by the mass and the height. That's all, to be more precise we have to consider the density of the rock and some geometric properties. Amazingly, the storage capacity is growing with the fourth power of the radius. This is not very exciting, if the cost of the system grow as fast, but this is not the case. The cost grows proportional with the surface, and that is definitely proportional to the second power of the radius. The result is a unique decrease of cost per kWh with size. One divided by the second power of the radius. Keep the math simple and say: Double the radius and the price drops to a quarter per kWh storage capacity. This is the unique property of the new system! Let's come back to our checklist for the perfect storage system. The Hydraulic Hydro Storage has a low price per kWh, due to the fascinating scaling effect; the price can go down to a few Dollars per kWh storage capacity. The efficiency is similar to pumped hydro, and we know, pumped hydro has 80% efficiency Last not least: The footprint is a hundred times smaller than an upper basin of a pumped hydro system. There is no toxic or radioactive waste; there is no waste at all. Renewable energy as solar energy and wind power need storage, Solving the storage problem means: We will have a clean and sustainable future! Thank you for your attention!

Oil Drilling | Oil & Gas Animations

08:22
- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips - Geologists and geophysicists have agreed on the existence of a "prospect", a potential field. In order to find out if hydrocarbons are indeed trapped in the reservoir rock, we must drill to hit them. Bearing in mind the knowledge acquired about the substratum and the topography of the land, the best position for the installation of the drilling equipment is determined. Generally it is vertically above the point of maximum thickness of the geological layer suspected of containing hydrocarbons. The drillers then make a hole in conditions that are sometimes difficult. Of small diameter (from 20 to 50 cm) this hole will generally go down to a depth of between 2000 and 4000 meters. Exceptionally, certain wells exceed 6000 m. One of them has even exceeded 11 000 m! Certain fields can be buried at a depth equivalent to the height of 12 Eiffel Towers ... The derrick is the visible part of the drilling rig. It is a metal tower several tens of meters high. It is used to vertically introduce the drill strings down the hole. These drill strings are made up of metallic tubes screwed end to end. They transmit a rotating movement (rotary drilling) to the drilling tool (the drill bit) and help circulate a liquid called "mud" (because of its appearance) down to the bottom of the well. The drilling rig works like an enormous electric hand-drill of which the derrick would be the body, the drill strings the drive and the drilling tool the drill bit. The most usual tool is an assembly of three cones -- from which comes the name "tri cone" -- in very hard steel, which crushes the rock. Sometimes when the rock being drilled is very resistant, a single- block tool encrusted with diamonds is used. This wears down the rock by abrasion. Through the drill pipes, at the extremity of which the drill bit rotates, a special mud is injected, which the mud engineer prepares and controls. This mud cools the drill bit and consolidates the sides of the borehole. Moreover it avoids a gushing of oil, gas or water from the layer being drilled, by equilibrating the pressure. Finally, the mud cleans the bottom of the well. As it makes its way along the pipes, it carries the rock fragments (cuttings) to the surface. The geologist examines these cuttings to discover the characteristics of the rocks being drilled and to detect eventual shows of hydrocarbons. The cuttings, fragments of rock crushed by the drill bit, are brought back up to the surface by the mud. To obtain information on the characteristics of the rock being drilled, a core sample is taken. The drill bit is replaced by a hollow tool called a core sampler, which extracts a cylindrical sample of several meters of rock. This core supplies data on the nature of the rock, the inclination of the layers, the structure, permeability, porosity, fluid content and the fossils present. After having drilled a few hundred of meters, the explorers and drillers undertake measurements down the hole called loggings, by lowering electronic tools into the well to measure the physical parameters of the rock being drilled. These measures validate, or invalidate, or make more precise the hypotheses put forward earlier about the rocks and the fluids that they contain. The log engineer is responsible for the analysis of the results of the various loggings. The sides of the well are then reinforced by steel tubes screwed end to end. These tubes (called casings) are cemented into the ground. They isolate the various layers encountered. When hydrocarbons are found, and if the pressure is sufficient to allow them come to the surface naturally, the drillers do a flow check. The oil is allowed to come to the surface during several hours or several days through a calibrated hole. The quantity recovered is measured, as are the changes in pressure at the bottom of the well. In this way, a little more knowledge is gained about the probable productivity of the field. If the field seems promising, the exploration team ends the first discovery well and goes on to drill a second, even several others, several hundred or thousand meters further away. In this way, the exploration team is able to refine its knowledge about the characteristics of the field. The decision to stop drilling is made only when all these appraisal wells have provided sufficient information either to give up the exploration or to envisage future production. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips Twitter: https://twitter.com/oilvips And Don't forget to subscribe to our channel

YouTube GOLD - Eps. 14 GOLDEN EYE: MINI GOLD MINING | RC ADVENTURES

28:03
We have been mining for several months -- and the pay streak we were following has almost run dry. We are no where near our season goal. The only thing I can do is prospect for new ground to mine. The current mine is still producing gold, but we need to find a new pay streak. After I do some prospecting, I have Krazy Joe run the Dozer - and we move one of the wash plants. The new conveyor belts have arrived - and its time to have the entire plant work as one lean, mean, Gold-producing Machine! Are we going to find Gold?! Of Course! The true secret of this show - is nothing you see is "real". Everything is generally staged (well as much as we can plan when playing!), and though we are mining for real gold (yes it's real pay dirt), the true Gold is the experience we get as friends, what we hope the viewers get watching a couple of goofballs entertain you with some very cool toys. One mans hobby, is another's entertainment on YouTube! Now all I have to do is to continue learning how to sluice for Gold. We are all rookies, we have never mined before.. yet, I have always had a passion for Radio Control, and for finding Gold! "YouTube GOLD" is a #Parody series based around the GOLD Shows of TV that we all know and love. #GoldRush #YukonGold #BeringSeaGold all of these are shows that my family enjoy seeing! Miner Bob Young pans for gold at his placer mine in Southcentral Alaska during the late 1960s or early 1970s. He pans for gold, pushes soil into a sluice box with his D9 Caterpillar bulldozer, moves tailings piles, cleans the sluice box, separates gold from soil, and weighs out the gold. John Baker filmed the sequence during the late 1960s or early 1970s and added narration in about 2000 (Color/Sound/16mm film). This sequence contains excerpts from AAF-16369 from the John Baker collection held by the Alaska Film Archives, a unit of the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections & Archives Department in the Elmer E. The Largest Oil Rig in The World

19:43
Perdido is the deepest floating oil rig (platform) in the world at a water depth of about 2450 meters operated by the Shell Oil Company in the Gulf of Mexico. The Perdido is located in the Perdido fold belt which is a rich discovery of crude oil and natural gas that lies in water that is nearly 8000 feet deep. The platform's peak production will be 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. At 267 meters, the Perdido is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower. An oil rig is a large structure with facilities to drill wells, to extract and process oil and natural gas, and to temporarily store product until it can be brought to shore for refining and marketing. In many cases, the platform contains facilities to house the workforce as well. What is WATER TURBINE? What does WATER TURBINE mean? WATER TURBINE meaning & explanation

What is WATER TURBINE? What does WATER TURBINE mean? WATER TURBINE meaning - WATER TURBINE definition - WATER TURBINE explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A water turbine is a rotary machine that converts kinetic and potential energy of water into mechanical work. Water turbines were developed in the 19th century and were widely used for industrial power prior to electrical grids. Now they are mostly used for electric power generation. Water turbines are mostly found in dams to generate electric power from water kinetic energy. Water wheels have been used for hundreds of years for industrial power. Their main shortcoming is size, which limits the flow rate and head that can be harnessed. The migration from water wheels to modern turbines took about one hundred years. Development occurred during the Industrial revolution, using scientific principles and methods. They also made extensive use of new materials and manufacturing methods developed at the time. The earliest known water turbines date to the Roman Empire. Two helix-turbine mill sites of almost identical design were found at Chemtou and Testour, modern-day Tunisia, dating to the late 3rd or early 4th century AD. The horizontal water wheel with angled blades was installed at the bottom of a water-filled, circular shaft. The water from the mill-race entered the pit tangentially, creating a swirling water column which made the fully submerged wheel act like a true turbine. All common water machines until the late 19th century (including water wheels) were basically reaction machines; water pressure head acted on the machine and produced work. A reaction turbine needs to fully contain the water during energy transfer. In 1866, California millwright Samuel Knight invented a machine that took the impulse system to a new level. Inspired by the high pressure jet systems used in hydraulic mining in the gold fields, Knight developed a bucketed wheel which captured the energy of a free jet, which had converted a high head (hundreds of vertical feet in a pipe or penstock) of water to kinetic energy. This is called an impulse or tangential turbine. The water's velocity, roughly twice the velocity of the bucket periphery, does a u-turn in the bucket and drops out of the runner at low velocity. In 1879, Lester Pelton, experimenting with a Knight Wheel, developed a Pelton wheel (double bucket design), which exhausted the water to the side, eliminating some energy loss of the Knight wheel which exhausted some water back against the center of the wheel. In about 1895, William Doble improved on Pelton's half-cylindrical bucket form with an elliptical bucket that included a cut in it to allow the jet a cleaner bucket entry. This is the modern form of the Pelton turbine which today achieves up to 92% efficiency. Pelton had been quite an effective promoter of his design and although Doble took over the Pelton company he did not change the name to Doble because it had brand name recognition. Turgo and cross-flow turbines were later impulse designs.

Get Ready for the Asteroid Gold Rush

03:37
Asteroid mining will be a major engine for future economic growth, says author and entrepreneur Steven Kotler. His latest book is Tomorrowland: Our Journey from Science Fiction to Science Fact (http://goo.gl/eLjsSX). Read more at BigThink.com: http://bigthink.com/videos/steven-kotler-on-asteroid-mining Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Transcript - We had the idea that we could mine asteroids for over a hundred years. Late 1800s is when we first started thinking about this in the first place. And today we have I think it’s three or four different asteroid mining companies. It’s no longer an idea. We actually have companies that are actively pursuing this. And we also have really serious economic reasons for pursuing this, right. A lot of the metals, rare earth metals that we need to make all of our electronic gear are very scarce on Earth and totally plentiful in space. Gold, platinum – platinum is a fantastic conductor. We don’t build technology around it very much because all the platinum on Earth would essentially fit into the back of a flatbed truck, right. There’s a very limited supply. It is everywhere in space. So if you look at the history of the world it’s always been the search for resources that has opened up new frontiers. It’s been the economic driver that has opened up new frontiers. Well that economic driver is there in space. And you have to think about it this way. If you go back 20 years ago, right, when Shell discovered the first North Sea oil deposit. It was beneath 5,000 feet of water, 10,000 feet of rock and they had to operate in this very cold, very hostile, very far away environment robotically to get at oil. It was resource extraction. North Sea oil platforms are very, very expensive but we learned. Shell was willing to take a very, very expensive bet to operate robotically in a very hostile distant far and away environment to get at resources, right. The same budget sort of applies to asteroid mining and it’s the same exact situation. It is a very far away, very remote robotically extracted resource if we’re mining asteroids. So we’ve done this before. We’ve been down this exact road and for the first time in history we have the technology, right. We’ve already been in three different missions already. Two out of NASA and one out of Japan that have caught up to asteroids, right. We even had one that Hayabusa probe scratched the surface and brought back some dust. It’s low grade first step mining, right. So we already have proof of concept. We know it can be done. We know where the resources are out there. And there are companies pursuing it. Will it happen in the next 20-25 years? The next 10 years? The next 20-25 or the next 50 years? I don’t know. If you talk to the people running the companies they’ll put a 10 to 20 year time horizon on it. I think it’s a little farther out. But again we’re going to see it sometime in the next 50 years. And you have to understand what this means. You know they did a study where they looked at the amount of gold contained in just a typical middle of the road asteroid, not even like a metallic asteroid. Just a typical middle of middle of the road one and it was double what Fort Knox held at the height of Fort Knox, right. So there’s enough gold in one asteroid to kind of devalue every currency market on Earth. So that’s what’s coming and it’s really, really interesting, right. It sounds like this crazy science fiction technology but it’s going to have real world economic impact on this planet within the century. And so we have to kind of be prepared for it at the same time that we’re thinking about it’s still science fiction.

The World's Largest Dump Truck - Belaz 75710

01:50
Tucked away on construction sites most people won’t ever see are dump trucks so large it’s hard to believe are real. On this episode we bring you the World’s largest dump truck. The BelAZ 75710 made by Belarusian company BelAZ is the world largest, highest payload capacity haul truck. The truck is built with a conventional two axle setup but has doubled wheels, four to an axle. It has 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel hydraulic steering, which is unusual. The truck is 30 feet or 9 meters tall with wheels taller than most people. The BelAz 75710 is powered by two 2,300 horsepower motors with a top speed of 40 mph or 64 kph. It was designed for work in giant mining operations. The truck itself weighs over 750,000 pounds or 340 000 kg, to put that into perspective the average midsize car weighs 3500 lbs or 1600 kg making this dump truck weigh the equivalent of the combined weight of 215 cars. When it comes to hauling, this beast can carry up to 992,000 pounds or 450000 kg of material. Now I’m sure you’re thinking of picking one up, it’ll cost you around 6 million dollars. Check out the most amazing trucks in the world! From the largest to the most heavy, this top 10 list of craziest and coolest trucks is absolutely awesome! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most AMAZING Military Vehicles!" video here: https://youtu.be/GI1pQS3fbgc Watch our "SCIFI Weapons That Actually EXIST!" video here: https://youtu.be/REi8y34Y8Bc Watch our "AMAZING Places Around The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/xdWeyQ86cPM #9 Hitachi EH5000AC-3 The EH5000AC-3 is Hitachi’s largest rigid-frame hauler in the history of the company’s existence. They use a unique hauler technology that has lasted them through the ages. In addition to the timeless technique, they’ve added a brand new, high-efficiency Advanced IGBT AC-Drive system. Hitachi is one of the most eco-friendly companies that produce hauling trucks. They can raise profits by lowering fuel and maintenance costs. They are able to spend less, to make more, and get more done in the process. The machine itself weighs about 550 tons, but has a payload of 325 tons. With a 2,850 hp, the Hitachi EH5000AC-3 knows how to get the most out of its fuel. It also has safety measures built in. A Slip/Slide Control System will add traction in slippery conditions, such a rainstorm or when ice is on the roads. Not to mention, this makes sharp turns much easier as well. A pitch control system will allow this truck to drive over rough roads with ease. Meaning, the driver won’t lose any of its load when off-road. With LCDs, heating/cooling controls, independent cabs, monitoring cameras, and much more, it is likely this machine is the most advanced and well thought out truck in the world. #8 BelAZ 75710 As the make suggests, the BelAZ is a manufacturer based in Belarus. As of 2016, it is the world's largest, highest payload capacity haul truck. The BelAz 75710 is equipped with a two-axle setup yet the wheels are a four to an axle! Because of this, it also needs eight large 59/80R63 tires. Four-wheel drive and four-wheel hydraulic steering is seen on this truck. A funny addition considering its turning radius is only 20 meters. It can be loaded to a capacity of nearly 500 short tons and still drive as usual. Though empty, it still weighs over 350 tons. It is 66 feet long, 26 feet tall, and 32 feet wide. That’s about three times as tall as a Giraffe. Rather than using the power of one single engine, it is powered by two 65-litre 16-cylinder diesel engines, each of these engines having 2,300 horsepower. Since the fuel consumption is 198 g/kWh per engine, there is an option to use only one engine when carrying smaller loads. At its best, it can travel 40 miles per hour. BelAz believes in this 2013 truck so much, that they have invested $644 million in increasing its total production capacity. #7 Caterpillar 797F The Caterpillar 797F is Caterpillar's largest, highest payload capacity haul truck! It appears to be every little boy’s dream to drive one of these when he grows up as the 797 series is the perfect Tonka truck model! The Caterpillar 797F was first mentioned to the public at MINExpo International in September, 2008. This guy was the successor to the 797B. The 797F has a higher payload capacity and a more powerful, more efficient engine than its predecessor. Because of these increases, Caterpillar could meet the needs of mine operators' so they were able to increase the efficiency of their work. They also saved money by reducing the costs considering the payload was much higher, meaning less trips, less fuel, less time. The payload capacity? 400 short tons! The horsepower? A gross 4,000! The top speed? 42 miles per hour! This truck is fully geared with a rear axle mounted, computer controlled, seven speed planetary transmissions that is equipped with an integral lock-up torque converter. #6 Bucyrus MT 6300AC You have to see this military-style machine to believe it! Built for mining, it is a sight to behold and a wondrous machine unlike any other! The Bucyrus MT6300AC is an off road, double-axle, ultra class, diesel/AC electric powertrain haul truck. It was designed and manufactured by Bucyrus International Inc. in America. The MT6300AC is the company’s biggest, highest payload capacity haul truck, and closing in on the highest in the world at 400 short tons. Even fully-loaded, this hauler can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. On February 19, 2010, the Terex Unit Rig MT6300AC was re-branded which created the Bucyrus MT6300AC. This took place when Bucyrus International Inc. took over the mining equipment area of Terex Corporation. You may know Bucyrus makes as Caterpillar's UnitRigs as in 2011, Caterpillar took over a good part of the Bucyrus trucks.

What is reverse thrust? Explained by CAPTAIN JOE

What is reverse thrust and when do you use it? Okay, I´ll break it down for you to the absolute basics. Reverse thrust is used to slow down the aircraft on the runway after touchdown. There are three main components which slow down the airplane on the runway: Primary Braking with disc or carbon brakes similar to your car Secondary with reverse thrust Thrid with aerodynamical braking with the ground spoilers So we have two words in reverse thrust. “Reverse” cause the turbines output is being guided into the reverse direction and as you might not know we apply "thrust" in order to increase the braking action. So let´s look at this video to see what happens at touch-down. Here you can see engine number one of a Airbus A320. At touch-down these flaps open up, so called “reverser doors”. They act as guiding vanes in the mid section of the bypass-channel of the turbine and force the accelerated air of the fan to blow into the opposite direction. Now these reverser doors don´t open automatically at touch-down, no you lift up these little levers which will activate the hydraulic system to apply pressure to the actuator which then opens the reverser doors. Keeping the levers in this position only give you “Idle reverse”, but as soon as you move the levers to the aft position, the engine will spool up creating more thrust increasing the reverse output. The engines will increase thrust up to 70% which then resembles in “Full reverse thrust”. I know it´s odd to think that you would apply thrust again just after touch-down. You can definitely hear the difference between “Idle” and “full reverse thrust”, trust me :) Using the reversers significantly decrease the landing distance, varying between aircraft, weight and environmental factors. If you look at this great video of here, showing a Boeing 747 touching down and applying full reverse thrust you can clearly see how the water on the runway gets blown forwards. I actually experienced that myself landing on a snow covered runway, we applied full reverse thrust and you could literally see the snow blowing infront of the aircraft. So when do you use reverse thrust? Using “idle reverse” at touch-down is mandatory by many aircraft manufactures and airlines. First and far most to immediately decrease the aircrafts speed and to stabilize the aircrafts roll out plus to reduce brake usage. Landing on wet or snow contaminated runways using reverse thrust is absolutely vital to decelerate the aircraft and preventing it from skidding and keeping it in a straight line. Full reverse thrust is not permitted at some airports due to noise abendement procedures or at least restricted in between hours from here to then. Nevertheless pilots can use full reverse thrust when deemed necessary, but might have to state their decision in a report. Airplanes with wing mounted engines may only use full reverse thrust until slowing down to a specified speed, cause using the reverser below that speed could blow up loose gravel on the runway which could get sucked into the engine and damage the turbine. For example in an Airbus A320 you would have to reduce "full reverse thrust to idle reverse" at 70 knots, and retract the reverser at speeds below 40 knots. There are many different reverser types out there, but all work after the basic principle by forcing the air or even the exhaust into the opposite direction. So I hope I´ve answered another aviation related question for you. If you have a question that´s been on your mind, don´t hesitate to write me, therefore subscribe my channel, check out my website and spread the word! Farewell your Captain Joe Info: Fairly often you see executive jets using reverse thrust during taxi, to reduce break usage whilst rolling down sloping taxiways. Cause of their high mounted engines pilots don´t need to worry damaging the turbine due to gravel on the asphalt. And the well know MD80 with her rear mounted engines use to have a power back procedure, where they used reverse thrust to back out of a gate position. I´m not 100% if that procedure is still around? Maybe you know? To me that looks very dangerous.

How to Make Hash - Cannabis Craftsmanship

03:39
How is hash made? Have you ever wondered how the hash you find on dispensary shelves is made or wanted to make it yourself? Recently we visited Sugarleaf Farm in Skagit County, Washington to find out how they make their pressed hash. Mark Brinn, owner of Sugarleaf Farm and Funky Skunk Extracts, walked us through the steps he takes when concentrating cannabis into pressed bricks of hash. Using a modern take on traditional hash-making techniques, Mark creates a concentrate through a process that is entirely mechanical and does not use butane or any other solvents to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis plant. Have you ever made pressed hash? Check out the video for Mark’s step-by-step instructions and share your experience in the comments section below. And don't forget to subscribe to Leafly's video channel for the next episode Cannabis Craftsmanship series and more! Big Excavator digging up the Construction Zone

03:08
Free video about construction excavator. This free video was created for you by http://epsos.de and can be used for free under the creative commons license with the attribution of epSos.de as the original author of this construction excavator video. Thank you for supporting the creative commons movement !! An excavator is a construction machine for loosening and moving of soil and rock, especially for excavating and backfilling of Erdvertiefungen such as pits. Also the movement of bulk materials and other goods and in the extraction of coal and ores in the mining excavators are used. The term excavator comes from the Netherlands and called there originally a sand or sludge scraper. Excavator using a pneumatic release process are as pneumatic excavator called. Compared with the mechanical and hydraulic excavators solved pneumatic excavators are rather rare. Among the excavators, loosen the soil purely hydraulic, count the suction dredger, with these machines, a combination of mechanical and hydraulic releasing is used. As an interplay of digging and loading takes place, it is called at the Eingefäßbaggern by a discontinuous or intermittent dredging process. The difference with the flat excavator is that the feed is not generated for the removal of soil by the process of the entire excavator, but the grave vessel of the machine is moved. This is also called a stand excavators. Multi-purpose machines, also known as Universal construction excavator can, with various Arbeitsaustattungen be operated, which makes them particularly suitable for universal use in the construction industry. Even in smaller mining operations, such as quarries or gravel pits, universal excavators are used. Compared to the single-purpose transport at a reasonable cost is possible. A further breakdown is due to the historical development of Eingefäßbagger for both single as well as multi-purpose machines based on the principle used in the power transmission cable excavator and hydraulic excavators. In draglines the drive energy is transferred to the grave tool by means of winches and steel cables. Hydraulic construction excavators, however, have a hydraulic unit. The grave tools are hydraulic cylinder moves. Due to the different function of the traction and hydraulic excavators are not all grave tools for both machine types. Apart from the actual grave tools also were used for the universal construction excavator attachments developed that are not used for loosening and moving dredged material. The following table gives an overview of the main grave and loading tools from Eingefäßbaggern and their uses. Since there are significant differences between the structural design of land-based and floating Eingefäßbaggern, they are described separately. Often floating excavator machines are also known as dredging, called land-based excavator excavator as dry. Strictly speaking, however, include all those excavators to the dredging that promote dredged material that lies below the water surface. Example of this is a rope excavator with dragline, which promotes the shore of gravel. For the extraction of raw materials are used today in small and medium-sized mining companies instead of rope excavators hydraulic excavator with front shovel. These are more economical and requires less maintenance than Dragline. In large open pit mines, such as the coal surface mines in the U.S., dragline excavators come with a discontinuous decomposition method still used. In construction, hydraulic excavators are used with grippers as an attachment for digging trenches and for loading soil. Switching to other work equipment such as the bucket is by using the quick changeover in less time. Against the grippers, which are used in construction excavators and the cable are closed by cables, these grippers are actuated by hydraulic cylinders. Other attachments that are used with universal excavators, for example, ramming, wrecking balls, rock chisel as well as drilling and completion equipment. See also attachments. A stand excavator is characterized usually by a 360 ° rotating structure with a boom from at the end of an attachment can be mounted. There are two split deliveries that are called variable boom and gooseneck boom. The boom and attachments are by hydraulic moved. Therefore it is also called hydraulic excavator. In addition, there are also rope excavators, bucket wheel excavators, scrapers or shovels, suction dredger, etc. Komatsu is a Japanese industrial group headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. At the Komatsu Group worldwide include 185 companies and 25 factories. Komatsu is the second largest construction equipment manufacturers in the world. Komatsu and Caterpillar build aggregated approximately 85% of mining machinery produced in the world. Thank you for supporting the creative commons movement !!

Big, Bigger, BIGGEST! 3 MASSIVE MACHINES that move! (World’s biggest / largest ever built!)

05:14
Big, Bigger, BIGGEST! 3 MASSIVE MACHINES that move (and work!) (World’s biggest / largest ever built!) NASA CRAWLER-TRANSPORTERS: The NASA crawler-transporters are the largest land transport vehicles in the world. Each crawler weighs about 2.7 million kilograms or about 6 million pounds. They are 40 meters or 131 feet long and 35 meters or 114 feet wide. Built in 1965 at a cost of 14 million US dollars each, the 2 crawler-transporters are actually nicknamed “Hans” and “Franz”. And what absolutely magnificent works of design and engineering they both are – these massive machines and their combined 8 thousand horse power engines have smoothly and faithfully carried all the Saturn V rockets and all the Space Shuttles the 5 mile journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the Launch Pad. And in fact between the 2 of them they have travelled more than 3,400 miles in total, that’s about the distance from Miami to Seattle. BERTHA: Big Bertha is the world’s largest tunnel boring machine… and here she is in 41 pieces leaving Osaka Bay Japan on route to the United States of America. The 80 million dollar 57.5 foot diameter Bertha was designed specifically for the SR99 Tunnel Project commissioned by the Washington State Department of Transportation. Named after Seattle’s only Female Mayor, Bertha Knight Landes, the massive machine Bertha is 326 feet long and weighs 7,000 tons or 14 million pounds. And as she winds her way under Seattle, Bertha will chew through approximately 35 feet of rock and soil each day. She will also, using her giant pair of arms, automatically erect and seal thousands of concrete panels as she goes. She is simply incredible, and is surely one of the greatest machines ever devised. BAGGER 293: Bagger 293 is the biggest terrestrial vehicle of all time (and the biggest mining machine ever). Built in 1995 by the German industrial company TAKRAF, Bagger 293 is a giant bucket wheel excavator that currently works in a brown coal mine near Hambach in western Germany. At 738 feet long and towering 315 feet high, this gigantic contraption weighs 14,200 tonnes or about 31 million pounds. Powered by enough electricity to sustain a medium sized town, each of Bagger 293s 20 buckets can hold about 80 bathtubs worth of dirt, meaning it can move about 8.5 million cubic feet of earth per day. … to put that in perspective, that’s the equivalent of digging a really, really big hole…. and to be more precise… that’s about the size of digging a football field 30 meters or about 100 feet deep, in a single day. If you want buy one of these monstrous mechanical marvels, you’ll need at least 100 million US dollars and a crew of 5 to drive it… but you won’t have to worry about speeding tickets, as this Big Bopper has a top speed of only 0.9 kilometres per hour.

Exploring The North Side Of Whiskey Diggings

04:39
The town of Whiskey Diggings is long gone, but some indications of the past activity here remain, such as the huge ditch lines, the remains of the miner's home we came across (A friend of ours remembers when the home was still standing and was occupied by a crew of miners) and the extensive rock piles left by hydraulic mining activity.

PG & E Lime Saddle Power Plant

00:26
Water from the Miocene ditch, originally constructed for the Cherokee and Spring Valley Hydraulic Mining Companies in the 1870's, delivers water through a penstock to spin several generators to create electricity. The power plant can be accessed from the Lake Oroville Nelson Bar Boat Ramp parking lot. The water is held in Kunkle reservoir and then enters a riveted steel pipe approximately 30" in diameter and then into the penstock above the power house. The water is then discharged into an open ditch again to keep traveling south. I am not sure if the power house was original to the hydraulic mining operations which did have electricity for 24 hour operations using arc lamps. A historic inverted siphon that carried water from Concow reservoir over the north fork of the Feather River also fed Kunkle reservoir water.

ప్రపంచంలోనే టాప్ టెన్ అమేజింగ్ మెషిన్స్ Top 10 Amazing Machines from Around the World in Telugu

06:39
Machines have made modern life very convenient and challenging. Many of these new inventions are engineering marvels and are objects of curiosity and wonderment. In this article we present you 10 amazing machines which perform some wonderful job : SAM100 A New York-based company has invented one of the most awesome machine which is a semi-automated robot that is able to lay bricks up to four times faster than a human can and it will be commercially ready in September. The Semi-Automated Mason (SAM) system costs $500,000 (£330,000) and has taken New York-based Construction Robotics eight years to develop and test out on construction sites. The system is available to order and features a robotic arm that is able to pick up bricks, apply mortar and then lay each brick in the desired location to build up a wall, laying between 800 to 1,200 bricks a day. In comparison, a human mason can only lay about 300 to 500 bricks a day. TRAC-140 An effective machine for mowing the grass along a highway without disturbing any traffic flow. SVM 1000 Plasser & Theurer SVM 1000 track laying train, can lay up to 2km of track in 24 hours which is semi-automated and is being used world wide to lay train lines which much lesser efforts and faster turnaround time. TBM A tunnel boring machine (TBM), also known as a "mole", is a machine used to excavate tunnels with a circular cross section through a variety of soil and rock strata. They may also be used for micro tunneling. They can bore through anything from hard rock to sand. Tunnel diameters can range from a metre (done with micro-TBMs) to 19.25 metres to date. Tunnels of less than a metre or so in diameter are typically done using trenchless construction methods or horizontal directional drilling rather than TBMs. Tunnel boring machines are used as an alternative to drilling and blasting (D&B) methods in rock and conventional "hand mining" in soil. TBMs have the advantages of limiting the disturbance to the surrounding ground and producing a smooth tunnel wall. This significantly reduces the cost of lining the tunnel, and makes them suitable to use in heavily urbanized areas. The major disadvantage is the upfront cost. TBMs are expensive to construct, and can be difficult to transport. The longer the tunnel, the less the relative cost of tunnel boring machines versus drill and blast methods. This is because tunneling with TBMs is much more efficient and results in shortened completion times, assuming they operate successfully. P380 Bridge inspection units have been successfully used on a large number of railway vehicles, 2-way vehicles and road vehicles for many years. They stand out by virtue of a particularly large operating range both above and below track level. Equipped with electrical, hydraulic and pneu-matic energy in the workman baskets, these units can also be used for taking material samples and for carrying out light repair work. HPW-DUST Newer street sweepers are capable of collecting small particles of debris. Many street sweepers produced today are PM10 certified, meaning that they are capable of collecting and holding particulate matter sized less than 10μm. Despite advancements in street sweeping technology, the mechanical broom type street sweeper accounts for approximately 90 percent of all street sweepers used in the United States today. Modern street sweepers are equipped with water tanks and sprayers used to loosen particles and reduce dust. The brooms gather debris into a main collection area from which it is vacuumed and pumped into a collection bin or hopper. Road Zipper A barrier transfer machine, also known as zipper machine or road zipper, is a heavy vehicle used to transfer concrete lane dividers, such as jersey barriers, which are used to relieve traffic congestion during rush hours. Many other cities use them temporarily during construction work. The lanes created by the machine are sometimes referred to as "zipper lanes". One advantage of barrier systems over other lane management treatments (i.e. traffic cones or overhead directional lights) is that a solid, positive barrier prevents vehicle collisions due to motorists crossing over into opposing traffic flow. A disadvantage is that lane widths can be slightly reduced.

Meet Crossrail's giant tunnelling machines

06:34
Crossrail will use eight tunnel boring machines (TBMs) to construct the new tunnels under London. These huge machines will work 24 hours a day beneath the streets of London, excavating large volumes of ground and erecting the concrete tunnel lining. Each machine has a rotating cutter head at the front, and a series of trailers behind, housing all the mechanical and electrical equipment required for the excavation of material. To construct the 42km of tunnel required for Crossrail the tunnel boring machines will undertake ten individual tunnel drives to construct the 6.2m diameter rail tunnels. Each TBM weighs approximately 1000 tonnes and will be up to 140m in length with an external diameter of 7.1m. This allows for an inside tunnel diameter of 6.2m once the concrete tunnel segments are in place. Each TBM will be operated by a 'tunnel gang' comprising of around twenty people - twelve people on the TBM itself and eight people working from the rear of the machine to above ground. To find out more about our tunnel boring machines visit: http://www.crossrail.co.uk/tunnelling/ http://www.crossrail.co.uk/
