Check out the most expensive diamonds in the world! You won't believe how much money the rare and valuable jewelry stones on this top list are worth! The Heart of Eternity ($16 million) The stone that was made into the heart of Eternity Diamond was found at the world’s largest supplier of blue diamonds, the South African Premier Diamond Mine. Blue diamonds are incredibly rare with, on average, only one being found every year, and this one was an amazing find. The rough stone was 777 carats when it was dug up, and the owners waited until they had the perfect design idea before they started cutting it. The result was The Millenium Blue Diamonds- a series of heart, pear drop and oval shaped diamonds of which the Heart Of Eternity is the largest. In recent years it has been on tour at various exhibitions, including at the Millennium exhibition in London in 2000, followed by the Smithsonian museum. It was reportedly bought in 2012 by Floyd Mayweather to give to his fiancée, but no details of the selling price were ever revealed. The $16 million price tag is an estimate based on its size and color, but the finished piece could be worth far more when you consider what a rare piece it is. 9. The Moussaieff Red Diamond ($20 million) Diamonds come in many colors, but red ones are particularly rare. According to the Cape Town Diamond Museum there have only been up to 30 true red diamonds ever found, with most of them being less than half a carat. A farmer in Brazil found the rough stone that was to become the Moussaieff Red Diamond in the 90’s. At a weight of 13.90 carats it immediately became the center of attention. The William Goldberg Diamond Corporation from New York then bought it, and decided to cut it into a triangular brilliant cut. This process would mean losing 8.79 carats, but the resulting cranberry colored 5.11 carat gem is simply stunning. It was originally named the Red Shield, but was renamed by the Moussaieff Jewelers when they purchased it for about $8 million at the turn of the century. This diamond has regularly been to exhibitions, being shown alongside other ones in the Smithsonian. Were it to be sold, it would be expected to cost at least $20 million. 8. The Perfect Pink ($23 million) When it sold for $23 million in 2010, the Perfect Pink Diamond was the most expensive jewel that had ever been sold in Asia. It weighs 14.23 carats, is graded as fancy intense pink, and is set in a rose and white gold ring with rectangular shaped diamonds on either side. Pure Pink diamonds of more than 10 carats are very unusual, with only 18 examples having gone to auction in the past 244 years; none of which was classified as intense pink at the time of sale. This makes the Perfect Pink a truly unique piece, and explains why it sold for ten million dollars more than had been expected. 7. The Wittelsbach Diamond ($23.4 million) The first records of the Wittelsbach Diamond come from back in the 17th century when it was sold to Louis XIV of France. It has a rare blue color, and weighs 35.56 carats. The stone has a royal history, having been passed down through families since the 1600’s. It went from France, to Spain, and over to Germany, where it accompanied the German King Louis III to his burial place in 1921. At some point in the 30’s it was sold to raise money for the German government, and from here things get mysterious. No one seemed to know who had bought it, and it somehow got replaced with a piece of blue glas in the museum. Rumors of the actual diamond changing hands were rife in the following decades, until 1962 when it reappeared at a jewelery store in Belgium. It was sold in 2008 for $23.4 million and, to the dismay of diamond historians, the new owner decided that it should be recut, since it had originally been done in the early 1600’s. The resulting stone, now 21.06 carats, meant that both the color and quality were improved, and the estimated price sky-rocketed.

Comprised of just one element—carbon—diamonds are considered to be the hardest substances on earth. Natural diamonds are ancient—some specimens have been proven to be have formed three billion years ago. Two representatives from Lucara Diamond—William Lamb and CEO Eira Thomas—join The Balancing Act to share their diamond knowledge. www.minecristal.ca Stay informed about our new videos: subscribe to our YouTube channel "Mine Cristal". This mine is located in Bonsecours, Quebec, Canada. Photos and video clips shown here date from 1989 - 2012. The open-pit mine produces splendid quartz crystals with exceptional clarity. The largest single crystals measure 60 cm (24 inches) in length. Since mining began in 1989, 32 types, or morphologies of quartz crystals have been catalogued. Geological research into the origins of these crystals has revealed that they formed at this location some 300 million years ago under extreme conditions of heat and pressure. We harvest crystals in the mine only as needed, to supply our store with a sufficient quantity of quartz crystals. Exceptionally (for a mine), we harvest all the crystals by hand and without the use of dynamite. It is a privilege for us to participate in the discovery and extraction of these true gems of nature. The extraction process is done in a manner which respects both the environment and the crystals: we endeavor to keep the crystals whole and in a pristine state. In the museum and the store, our crystals are presented in an untouched, natural state. Amazingly, each crystal is an intricate work of art made by Nature; no two are alike and this makes them even more fascinating! Mine Cristal is considered by experts to be a “geological gem,” one of Canada’s great natural sites, due to it’s unique and abundant mineralogical deposits.

Note: just because it’s found on earth, doesn’t mean it’s from it! 10. Tanzanite 9. Grandiderite 8. Black Opal 7. Taaffeite 6. Alexandrite 5. Musgravite 4. Painite 3. Serendibite 2. Red Diamonds, Pink Star Diamond 1. Jadeite Poudretteite This mineral was first found during the mid-1960’s in the Poudrette quarry of Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. However, it wasn’t until 1987 that the poudretteite was fully recognized as a new mineral. Even then, this mineral wasn't described in depth until 2003. As stated by several different sources, it’s believed that only a relative few will ever come into contact with this mineral and let alone ever even hear it mentioned. Grandidierite This is considered to be an extremely rare mineral and gem that was first seen in 1902 on the Island of Madagascar. It was named in honor after the French explorer Alfred Grandidier who once studied the island’s natural history. Grandidierite comes in a bluish-green color and is located almost entirely in Madagascar, although, there was a clean faceted sample that was found in Sri Lanka. Grandidierite is also pleochroic, which means it's able to absorb different wavelengths of light differently and that results in different colors, such is the same ability with the gems tanzanite and alexandrite. Painite This gemstone was first discovered back in the 1950’s in Myanmar by a British mineralogist named Arthur C. D. Pain. For the next several decades only two fragments of the hexagonal mineral were known to exist on earth. By the time the year 2005 rolled around, there were still less than 25 discovered pieces of painite and The Guinness Book of World Records had declared it the world's rarest gemstone mineral. However, that was 11 years ago and since then the origin of the original stones has been found, along with two other major locations that have led to the discovery of thousands of small samples of painite fragments. Even so, they’re still considered one of the world’s rarest minerals. Ammolite This rare gemstone can be found mainly in the eastern region of the Rocky Mountains of North America. Ammolite is an opal-like gemstone that is solely made up of the fossilized shells of extinct animals known as ammonites. This makes ammolite one of the few biogenic gemstones that exist, along with pearls and amber. Ammolites weren’t officially recognized as gemstones until 1981 when they were given official status by the World Jewellery Confederation. That’s also the same year that commercial mining for ammolite began. Tanzanite It’s been said that tanzanite is 1,000 times rarer than a diamond, which might as well be the case considering the fact that it can be found almost entirely near the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is where the perfect conditions lie in order to form the mineral. Like grandidierite, tanzanite is able to produce striking shifts in color based on the crystal’s orientation and the certain lighting conditions. Caltech's geology division states this is because the color variations are caused by the existence of vanadium ions. Red Diamonds Did you know that diamonds come in a variety of colors? In fact, diamonds can range from being yellow, brown, colorless, blue, green, black, pink, orange, and red. That’s also the same order of how rare each diamond is classified as with yellow being the least and red being the most. Not only that but diamonds are also the hardest natural substances that form here on earth. Just like the colorless diamond, the red diamond is made purely out of carbon, however, what gives the diamond its red color is actually a deformation of their atomic structure that’s known as a “plastic deformation”. The Moussaieff Red is the largest red diamond in the world among the little known other red diamonds that have been discovered. Here are the 13 most rare and valuable gemstones and minerals ever seen in the world like the blye Benitoite and red diamonds! Subscribe for new videos Monday Wednesday and Friday! 8. Jeremejevite This mineral was discovered way back in 1883 by a French mineralogist named Augustin Alexis Damour, who named it after the Russian scientist Pavel Vladimirovich Eremeev. The crystal was found on Mt. Soktui in Siberia, Russia. Since then, it has been described as being found in the Eifel District of Germany and in the Pamir Mountains in Namibia. This rare aluminum borate mineral is comprised of variable hydroxide and fluoride ions. 7. Poudretteite This mineral was first found during the mid-1960’s in the Poudrette quarry of Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. However, it wasn’t until 1987 that the poudretteite was fully recognized as a new mineral. Even then, this mineral wasn't described in depth until 2003. Even so, they’re still considered one of the world’s rarest minerals. 4. Red Beryl Also known as bixbite, "red emerald", or "scarlet emerald", red beryl was first reported as far back as 1904. Even though its chemical compound is closely similar to that of aquamarines and emeralds, it’s actually considered to be rarer than both of them. What gives the mineral its red color palette is thanks to the presence of ManganeseⅢ+ ions. It can be found in parts of New Mexico and Utah where it’s actually proven to be quite difficult to mine. Because of this, prices for red beryl are known to reach high levels and have even gone on to be around 10,000 per karat for stones. 3. SUBSCRIBE!: http://bit.ly/1G97GmA SHARE THIS VIDEO: https://youtu.be/EsDiQokJqos I found a DIAMOND!!!! I went to Crater Of Diamond State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas and picked a .44 karat diamond right out of the dirt!! At first I thought it was snot, and then a piece of glass, so I had to get it checked out to make sure it was legit. The park as a gem specialist on sight, and sure enough it was a white diamond! The park itself is incredibly interesting. Crater of Diamonds state park is a 371/2 acre plowed field positioned on an eroded 95 million year old volcano, which is also the world’s eight largest diamond-bearing volcanic crater. The park is located in Murfreesboro, Arkansas (population 1,631) and is the only public accessible diamond site in the world. Admission is $10, and you can keep what you find regardless of how much its worth! Gem hunting and gold mining has turned into my new favorite hobby and I go out panning/sluicing for gold every week. I love it so much I started a new youtube channel all about finding gold and other Gems. From the most famous gemstone in the world the Hope Diamond the a discovery of the giant Jadeite, 12 rare and expensive gems! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 6. Heart of Eternity The Heart of Eternity weighs in at 27.64 carats, and it is another that was found at the Premier Diamond Mine in South Africa. The diamond was unveiled in January of 2000 alongside a lot of other diamonds. The shape and name of the stone were most likely inspired by the fictional Heart of the Ocean that was featured in the mega-blockbuster Titanic. This stone was almost stolen in November of 2000, but the thieves never managed to do it. In 2012, people though Floyd Mayweather might have bought the stone for an engagement ring for his fiance, but the buyer of the diamond was never revealed. 5. Massive Jadeite Jadeite is one of the world’s most expensive and rare gemstones in the world. Myanmar is the leading producer of this rare and beautiful gem, and the stone was found in a mine in Kachin within the country. The translucent, intensely colored gem is not to be confused with the more traditional jade. The two stones may be related, but Jadeite is rarer and substantially more valuable. That is what makes this discovery of this massive jadeite deposit all the more impressive. The huge stone was discovered in Myanmar in 2016 in a jade mine. The stone that was found is worth a staggering 170 million. The gem is 14 feet high and 19 feet long. The country plans to sell the giant gem to the neighboring China so that it can be made into jewelry and other items. Jadeite is worth about $20,000 per karat. 4. Millennium Star This diamond takes the title second largest top grade diamond behind the Centenary Diamond. Weighing in at 203.04 carats, it's a class D colorless, pear-shaped diamond. It's insured for over $120 million. It was found in Zaire, which is a country in Africa, in 1990. This is one of the diamonds that was featured alongside The Heart of Eternity. It was almost stolen in November in 2000 alongside the Heart of Eternity in the exhibition that was done by De Beers. 3. Great Chrysanthemum Diamond Although the name's a mouthful, this diamond maintains a reputation as one of the most famous diamonds in the world. It was discovered in 1963 in South Africa, and it weighs around 198 carats. It's an orange-brown color that is the central focus of a necklace that also features 410 other diamonds. The diamond was on display at the Smithsonian alongside the Hope Diamond briefly, and it's been on display in many other places. Today, the necklace is owned by an anonymous person who bought it for about 30 million. It's one of only 300 diamonds all over the world that measure in at over 100 carats among a lot of other stones on the list. 2. Cullinan Diamond This is another diamond with a pretty storied past. It was found in 1905 in South Africa and after is was refined it was presented to King Edward VII on his 66th birthday. Several diamonds were cut from the rough one found, but the most famous, Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa, is considered the crown jewel of the British Monarchy. Cullinan I makes up the centerpiece and head of the royal scepter that is wielded by the supreme rulers at formal events like coronations. Cullinan II takes up another prominent place in the official crown of the reigning royalty. Nine different stones were cut from the original, and they each vary in size. Each stone also has history attached to them. It's been a pretty eventful 100 years for these rocks. There isn't a price tag on these jewels but given that they have been owned by the British Monarchy for so long, the price wouldn't be inexpensive. 1.Hope Diamond The Hope Diamond is the single most famous gemstone in the world. It's inspired movies, been worn by famous people, and it even has a curse attached to it. The diamond weighs in at 45.52 carats, and it is believed to have been found in India. The diamond got its start in France, though, when King Louis XIV first owned it. It was passed down by the French nobles until the French Revolution when it was stolen after King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were decapitated. From then on, the diamond has had 17 owners, including British royalty, Thomas Hope who it got its name from, Pierre Cartier, Harry Winston, and where it currently resides at the Smithsonian. Right now it is insured for $250 million dollars, and it isn't for sale.

Nepal lies in the central part of 2500km long Himalayan belt. Almost 83% of Nepalese territory is mountainous. It is an underdeveloped country with vast natural resources such as water, minerals, forest, varieties of agricultural products and medical herbs. For the economic development of the country exploitation and proper use of such valuable resources, especially mineral resources, is extremely important. The mountainous region and the geological environment therein are suitable for metallic, nonmetallic (industrial, gemstones and energy/fuel) mineral deposits as well as huge amount of construction materials, dimension and decorative stones. Continues efforts are required to find the more mineral deposits and exploit them for the benefit of the people.

With shocking evidence now uncovered, Zimbabwe's diamond trade faces suspension. "We were told here are the guns, sitting in the truck, do you want to stay?" says Andrew Cranswick, CEO of the mining company who owns the rights to mine diamonds in Marange. After his company was evicted, the Marange fields were opened up to the people and tens of thousands of Zimbabweans came to dig, paying the police a commission. Yet the police didn't always play fair - "$15 million worth of diamonds were confiscated", says one former miner and soon the police were replaced by Mugabes own military. "Mugabe needed a way to buy the loyalty of the army" says Ken Roth, "the military were ordered to kill". In the first week of November, helicopter gunships launched a massacre on the Marange diamond fields. Evidence has been collected of 200 deaths. Those who weren't killed were raped or crippled. "They told us if we wanted to go home we had to sleep with the men", says one woman, "the soldiers watched and laughed". Next month, the Kimberley process, the international body charged with stopping trade in conflict diamonds, will decide whether Zimbabwe should be suspended. Yet with many Western governments involved in Zimbabwe's diamond trade, a former delegate of the Kimberley process believes this deadly business may yet be protected. http://gia.edu/gem-encyclopedia River Mining in Pailin, Cambodia, by GIA. Have you ever wondered what are ruby gems? This video discusses both ruby and sapphire as varieties of the corundum mineral species. The Cambodian ruby is found in a river next to a previously volcanic area. Miners can recover ruby gemstone, where local mining is very popular. Vincent Pardieu describes the Pailin, Cambodia sapphire and how river mining works to find small ruby gems and small sapphire. New mining sources and types of mining can produce material very similar to ruby, whether they’re classical sources or have a slightly different appearance. Get that gold and get away, Zombies wanna' eat our brains. Don't mine at night. I'll fight away the skeletons While you're looking for diamonds They're getting closer, better run. Don't mine at night. No, this won't be our final day. Take my hoof we'll find a way-ay a-woah-oh. Don't mine at night. I turn a sec, you're getting shot. Then jump through a portal, well, why not?! When I think it can't get worse An Ender herd shows up, of course! Now you say you need Glowstone, And want to mine it on your own. Then to save you from the lava I fall in, I should have known. After exploring what was possible to explore (or that we were willing to explore) off to the left side of the main hub of this gigantic mine, we made our way back over to explore the right side. This meant heading down the large passage taking off from the underground workshop… The number of drifts and inclines fanning out in all directions was staggering and we had to stay focused in order to maintain some order in our exploring. Fortunately, we were able to get into areas of open stoping (with natural support) on this side of the mine and to see some of the minerals the miners were seeking. Additionally, on several occasions, we were able to look up to (or down to) different levels in this mine, suggesting that the underground workings were even greater than we had already imagined. Interestingly, this side of the abandoned mine was in far better shape than the other side and we encountered hardly any water. I should mention that with this mine I have edited many, many hours of exploring down to a manageable clip that shows the noteworthy features, but spares my dear viewers the tedious viewing of us walking, walking, walking and walking some more (and then walking some more) down miles of featureless drifts. The primary mineral extracted at this mine was zinc, but copper, lead, silver and even molybdenum, among other minerals, were recovered as well. Headframe Hunters, who was kind enough to do some research on this mine for us, had the following to share on the geology of the mine: “It was a mid-grade zinc mine - the primary zinc ore type mined is sphalerite (zinc sulfide, commonly called jack), which explains the acid mine drainage and hydrogen sulfide you encountered. The deposit is probably an igneous-hosted hydrothermal vein-type deposit; a limestone-hosted MVT like we have in Missouri would have buffered out all the acid.” Ultimately, this mine closed due to a period of low zinc prices rather than because the mine was played out. There are actually a significant quantity of valuable minerals still underground at this abandoned mine. * Thank you to Headframe Hunters and Mines of the West for the information they were able to dredge up on this abandoned mine * ***** All of these videos are uploaded in HD, so adjust those settings to ramp up the quality! However, abandoned mine sites have a lot working against them – nature, vandals, scrappers and various government agencies… The old prospectors and miners that used to roam our lonely mountains and toil away deep underground are disappearing quickly as well. These losses finally caught our attention and we felt compelled to make an effort to document as many of the ghost towns and abandoned mines that we could before that niche of our history is gone forever. But, guess what? We have fun doing it! This is exploring history firsthand – bushwhacking down steep canyons and over rough mountains, figuring out the techniques the miners used and the equipment they worked with, seeing the innovations they came up with, discovering lost mines that no one has been in for a hundred years, wandering through ghost towns where the only sound is the wind... These journeys allow a feeling of connection to a time when the world was a very different place. And I’d love to think that in some small way we are paying tribute to those hardy miners that worked these mines before we were even born. So, yes, in short, we are adit addicts… I hope you’ll join us on these adventures! #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring
