2x2: Jonathan Olivares with Kersten Geers and David Van Severen

02:03:13
09/15/2015 esigner Jonathan Olivares will present work from his office; architects Kersten Geers and David Van Severen will present work from their office; then the three will interview each other. "2x2": two design practices seen two ways. Jonathan Olivares established Jonathan Olivares Design Research in 2006 and works in industrial, spatial, and communication design. Based in Los Angeles, JODR approaches design through basic everyday objects reflecting the human condition and the body, in order to question conventional archetypes and emphasize use-value over showmanship. Recent projects include the exhibition Source Material (2014), co-curated with Jasper Morrison and Marco Velardi; the website "A View on Natural Motion," for Nike (2014); the Olivares Aluminum Chair, for Knoll (2012); and the book A Taxonomy of Office Chairs (Phaidon Press, 2011). Olivares’s work has been published internationally and has won several design awards, including Italy’s Compasso d’Oro, and his firm has received grants from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts for two design research projects. Kersten Geers, Design Critic in Architecture, is a principal of OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, which he cofounded in 2002 with David Van Severen. The firm is known for its idiosyncratic architecture—utopian and non-realized projects are customary. It does not invent the architecture but reflects and considers what architecture can signify and be today, reduced to bare essences. Its architectonic ideas are derived from geometric corrections and rigid classifications, to measure the world as it presents itself and to allow life to unfold in all its complexities. In 2010, OFFICE Kersten Geers David van Severen won the Venice Biennale Silver Lion for most promising young architect. In 2012 an overview of their work and was published as a monographic issue. Recently, they were awarded a double Belgian Prize for Architecture.

Skoda Banned From Using Monte Carlo Name In India..!!!

03:03
A district court issued the ban a few days ago that cites trademark infringement by the automaker. The trademark for the 'Monte Carlo' nameplate lies with a clothing and apparel manufacturer from Punjab. The Monte Carlo name is used by Skoda to pay homage to the carmaker's Monte Carlo racing tradition. Highlights The trademark for the 'Monte Carlo' name is with an Indian clothing brand. Skoda's Monte Carlo models pay homage to the carmaker's racing tradition. Similar issues happened in the case of Ford Endeavour & Premier Padmini. In what is quite frankly a piece of news that makes us facepalm, Skoda India has been banned from using the Monte Carlo name in India on any of its cars. The ban comes via a temporary injunction by a district court issued a few days ago that cites trademark infringement by the automaker. The trademark for the 'Monte Carlo' nameplate apparently lies with a clothing and apparel manufacturer from Punjab that took the matter to court in order to stop the automaker from using the name. Incidentally, Monte Carlo is an area in the principality or country of Monaco in the French Riviera and Skoda officially pays the current monarchy for the rights to use the Monte Carlo brand for its exclusive series cars. Globally, Skoda offers the Monte Carlo edition of several of its other models including the Rapid ==================================== Like, share and comment on my videos Also subscribe my channel to get more interesting videos in this type of topics...!! ________________________________ Some images, music and graphics shown in this video are copyrighted by the respected owners, not mine. _________________________ Music:- "Echo Dance-2017" by "[Mr-Piro]" is licensed under a Creative Commons License: https://bit.ly/2kyM1RC https://youtu.be/ttM2H6fRm2E

How To Replace Brake Pads And Rotors (Front & Rear)

06:16
How To Install Brake Pads & Rotors On A Honda S2000 QuickJack - https://www.quickjack.com/ Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Products Used: QuickJack - http://amzn.to/2sfGmXV (5,000 lb in video) Brake Piston Tool - http://amzn.to/2tWIFMv Silicon Paste For Brake Pins - http://amzn.to/2tWbHvG Molykote M77 - http://amzn.to/2sZgNri Aluminum Anti-Sieze - http://amzn.to/2sg4Ccj Copper Anti-Sieze - http://amzn.to/2sfTxI8 Brake Pads - http://bit.ly/2tn0WFO Front Brake Rotors - http://bit.ly/2sfprEZ Rear Brake Rotors - http://amzn.to/2sZS9Xu I’ve picked out some rotors with directional vanes, rather than straight vanes, which supposedly offer better cooling as they help pump air through the brakes, which leads to less brake fade. I’ll be doing some testing to see if this is actually true in a later video. Our first step in changing out the brakes is to loosen the wheel lug nuts. Next, we need to lift the wheels off the ground. Be sure to locate the proper jacking points in your owners manual before lifting the car. With the car raised, we can remove the wheels and access the brakes.Starting at the front, first we need to remove the brake caliper to get access to the rotor. To remove the caliper piston & brake pads, there are two bolts on the backside of the caliper. Use a wrench to hold the caliper pin in place, while using a socket wrench to remove the bolts. After removing these two bolts, you can pull the caliper free - set it aside and be sure not to let it hang from the brake line. You can now also remove the two brake pads. Next, we’ll remove the caliper bracket. There are two screws to remove, and then it can be pulled free. With complete access, now we can start removing the brake rotor. Usually there are two screws which hold it in, which if they’re old will likely be rusted at this point. Using a screwdriver and a mallet or hammer, give the rusted screws several hammer taps to help disturb the rust. Then, using a screwdriver, or perhaps an impact wrench if needed, remove the two screws. If nothing seems to get them to budge, you can simply drill out the screws so they’re no longer fastening the rotor. At this point, the rotor is free to remove, but it’s likely that rust will hold it in place. There are two bolt holes to break it from the rust. Using the bolts from the caliper, screw them into the rotor, and slowly tighten each bolt, alternating back and forth, until the rotor finally breaks away. Before installing the new rotor, spray both sides with brake cleaner to remove any protective oil or residue that may be left on the surface. On the hub where the brake rotor rests, rust can build up, so I’m using a wire brush on a drill bit to remove some of the rust and clean up the hub a bit. Slide the new rotor in place, aligning the orientation with the screw holes. You can use a single lug nut to hold the rotor in place while you assemble the brake caliper. Next we’ll put the brake caliper bracket back in place using the two bolts. Honda’s torque spec for these bolts is 79.6 lb-ft. (108 N-m). With the new brake pads, Honda recommends applying Molykote M77 or Daikalub 528D to the back and sides of the backing plate, as well as on the back of the shims. If your pads came with new hardware, replace the clips in caliper bracket, and then slide the brake pads in place. Make sure not to get any grease on the rotors or pad face. Now we need to push the piston back into the caliper. Before doing so, it’s a good idea to wipe down the surface & exposed sides of the piston. Then place the old brake pad against the piston, and using a brake pad piston compressor, press the piston back into place. It shouldn’t require much effort, and once the effort gets high, the piston is likely flush with the caliper and you can stop. I bought this tool for $8 from Harbor Freight, and it works just fine. Next, be sure the brake caliper pins are lubricated and can rotate freely. It’s a good idea to inspect these and apply grease as necessary. Slide the caliper over the brake pads, and torque down the two bolts to 24 lb-ft (32 N-m). Now we can put the wheel back on, and tighten down the lug nuts. Because the car is lifted, we’ll need to wait until it’s lowered again to apply the correct torque. It is obviously superior to the original fabric... and far less expensive. Ray (the owner) took great care of us and followed up to be sure we were all set. He runs a great company and we highly recommend his replacement fabric (be sure to tell him you heard about Tough Top Awnings from RVgeeks)! Our favorite type of DIY RV project is one that is both surprisingly manageable and also saves a lot of money. Slide topper replacement fits that description to a T by being much easier to accomplish than one might expect and costing as little as 1/2 to 1/3 the price of having it done at an RV shop. As an added bonus, aftermarket slide topper fabric readily available online is often superior to the original material. Our large front driver's side A&E slide topper was coming apart after only 7 years and had to be replaced. For this project, you'll need two stepladders, two people and a couple of basic tools. If you thought that replacing your slide-toppers was out of your league as a DIY RVer, watch this video first, and you may change your mind! We demonstrate the entire process and describe in thorough detail what's involved. And since we're replacing the largest topper on our RV by far, replacing any other one is even easier, since they're much smaller. WONDERING WHAT'S THE BEST GEAR TO USE ON YOUR RV? Contemporary Cabinets of Curiosity: Artist Mark Dion

01:16:36
Presented January 27, 2013 at the Nasher Sculpture Center. In this slide-show, harking back to personal holidays and expeditions prior to digital photography, Artist Mark Dion unpacks his practice of examining the ways in which dominant ideologies and public institutions shape our understanding of history, knowledge, and the natural world. Since the early 1990s, Mark Dion has been appropriating archaeological and other scientific methods of collecting, ordering, and exhibiting objects, the artist creates works that address distinctions between objective scientific methods and subjective influences. By locating the roots of environmental politics and public policy in the construction of knowledge about nature, Dion questions the authoritative role of the scientific voice in contemporary society. Mark Dion was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1961. He received a BFA (1986) and an honorary doctorate (2003) from the University of Hartford, School of Art, Connecticut. The artist’s spectacular and often fantastical curiosity cabinets, modeled on Wunderkabinetts of the sixteenth century, exalt atypical orderings of objects and specimens. By locating the roots of environmental politics and public policy in the construction of knowledge about nature, Mark Dion questions the authoritative role of the scientific voice in contemporary society. He has received numerous awards, including the ninth annual Larry Aldrich Foundation Award (2001). He has had major exhibitions at Miami Art Museum (2006); the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2004); the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut (2003); and Tate Gallery, London (1999). 'Neukom Vivarium' (2006), a permanent outdoor installation and learning lab for the Olympic Sculpture Park, was commissioned by the Seattle Art Museum. Dion lives and works in Pennsylvania. Rossinavi - We are our Vessels - Ep. 2 The Essence - Federico Rossi

04:10
Interview to Rossinavi General Director Federico Rossi. We can build any type of boat this is because of our know-how, our history ... the same people have been doing this kind of work in our company for thirty-five years. It all began with my father and my uncle, two brothers sharing immense passion for work and love for what they were doing, a love which was passed on to the following generations; it is a passion which they have passed to the collaborators of the company: we have people who have worked here for thirty, thirty-four years, we have people working for us who have brought their children into our company. Know-how is within us, we are all natural-born boat makers. Sometimes we stop and think, we look at what surrounds us and realise we have the luxury of having something which is not for everyone: first we learned to make boats, we had huge experience, enormous, of all the different possibilities of navigation and then we started building our own yachts. Our focus has always been never to disappoint any expectation, and that our reputation must always stay very high; from the times when we were making bolts, manholes, or when we were just installing an engine, we wanted to be acknowledged as the best. When we were dealing with simple carpentry we wanted to be acknowledged as the best. In 2007 the shipyard was ready for a further step, an important and decisive step: to start working under our own brand, under the Rossinavi brand, where the Rossi family could express themselves to show the world what they could do: boats There are not many customers who own a Rossinavi, not many units are produced annually; our business platform is not based on quantity, it is based on quality. We’re talking about one-offs, boats which are destined for a mature public, knowledgeable about boats, who know that everything that’s nice and shiny but is not based on a functional platform is worth nothing. We rely on the best designers on the market to fit out our boats and every time it’s a different boat, every time a different style ideas also vary inside the boat, aesthetic-functional ideas. When an architect pictures a Rossinavi, he has to think of a boat in which each functional part is integrated in the design. Bollards are integrated, fairleads are integrated, the mooring station is integrated. Everything is integrated, even the wipers. Everything has to be thought about, and has to be beautiful each hull is made for that boat, has been planned for that boat performances are measured, to understand if the contractual speed figure is met, but we also measure comfort levels. Comfort standards are not written anywhere in the contract, there is no line requesting how comfortable it should be: it is down to the maker’s sensitivity; the maker’s taste in choosing the best-performing materials, the maker’s sense defines every detail on the boat, something which is often not written in the specifications but lies within us, within the Rossi family’s knowledge and good sense. The owner of a Rossinavi today is a customer who truly has something different from all other boats, different as regards a cultural approach to the making of it, a cultural approach to the use of the boat, which is beyond the “I have a 55-metre boat, mine’s 50, mine’s better because it’s 5 metres longer than yours” saying, “I have a 50-metre boat but it was well-build” and I had it built by the Rossi family.

2014 BMW 4 Series review - تجربة بي ام دبليو الفئة الرابعة - Dubai UAE Car Review by Motopedia.ae

05:43
For the latest UAE Car Reviews checkout Motopedia.ae or our Youtube channel Motopediauae 2014 BMW 4 Series review - UAE Car Review by Motopedia.ae If you saw the Audi A5 coupe review, we're here to give you an alternative. The BMW 4 series is Beamers latest number badge. With an extensive ad campaign to launch it, we try and see if it really is worth the hype. We were given the prestigious M version to drive around. Sometime when you always look good, its good to dress up a little wild to attract attention. Somebody should have told that to BMW designers. It looks perfect, but now Wow factor. Even with the M badge there's nothing outrageous in the design. The car sits very low to the ground, with a long hood makes its way to intense LED headlamps and the familiar BMW grille. The huge air intakes under the LED's look like they'll swallow even small animals that dare to cross its path, and is probably the cars only outstanding design feature. The side profile has a chrome air vent but otherwise no Hoo Haa.. You can choose between the 2 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder with 240 horsepower or the 3 liter turbo 6 cylinder with 300 horse power both with 8 speed automatic transmissions. Our test car was the 435i with the V6 and the car can pull to 100kilometers per hour in under 6 seconds, putting this car in the high performance sports category. The 4 is a truly exhilarating drive pulling you back into the plush seats as you hear the engine growl and thrusts you forward. Rear wheel drive is standard, although we hear you can ask AGMC for the all wheel drive option. The 4-Series' cockpit tends to get dominated by the wide, bright screen that rides on the dash permanently--where you expect it might tuck itself away--and by the much larger iDrive control knob. The screen almost feels like a digital picture frame in the middle of the dash, but the iDrive system is very intuitive. Be warned though, it is a bit complicated and might take you a few weeks to really master it! You sit quite low in the 4-Series, and grip a steering wheel that's as thick as any SUV's wheel. The seatbelt presenter is both clever and necessary, because you'll develop shoulder problems reaching for that seatbelt every time. Even though the car looks very long, rear seat space is best for children. Standard options are Bluetooth connectivity, power windows/locks/mirrors, and climate control. Options include upgraded leather in the cabin, a choice of three interior wood trims, unique color combinations, and exterior high-gloss chrome accents. We're not really sure where the 4 series convertible sits amongst its competitors. It handsome, but Lexus IS sexy, powerful, but not Audi S4 outrageous and frankly, just lacks soul. In the end, this one really is an acquired taste so we do encourage you to test drive extensively before you buy! On our website www.motopedia.ae, you can search from brand, model, body type and budget and see all cars in your range. We even provide prices for all the different trims and dealer information, including warranty's so you can make an informed decision. Mrs Nesta Ford, in her London hotel room, reveals to her new friend Lord Mountry that she hopes to take her son Ogden on a yachting trip proposed by Mountry, despite her ex-husband having won custody of the boy. As Mountry leaves, Cynthia Drassilis arrives with Ogden, whom she has led away from his father's country house. Mrs Ford rewards Cynthia, but soon Mr Ford's secretary, a Mr Minnick, arrives to recover the stolen child. Cynthia tries to bribe his colleague, Mrs Sheridan, but to no avail, as she believes Nesta's influence has spoiled the boy. After they have gone, Nesta reveals to Cynthia Ogden's past as the 'Little Nugget', and the repeated attempts to kidnap him made by US gangsters. Nesta wishes to call in professional help, but Cynthia persuades her she can still do it, with the help of her new fiancé, a wealthy man called Peter Burns, who she suggests can take up a post at Ogden's new school, posing as a trainee schoolmaster. Suspense: 100 in the Dark / Lord of the Witch Doctors / Devil in the Summer House

01:26:56
The program's heyday was in the early 1950s, when radio actor, producer and director Elliott Lewis took over (still during the Wilcox/Autolite run). Here the material reached new levels of sophistication. The writing was taut, and the casting, which had always been a strong point of the series (featuring such film stars as Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Henry Fonda, Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland, Ronald Colman, Marlene Dietrich, Eve McVeagh, Lena Horne, and Cary Grant), took an unexpected turn when Lewis expanded the repertory to include many of radio's famous drama and comedy stars — often playing against type — such as Jack Benny. Jim and Marian Jordan of Fibber McGee and Molly were heard in the episode, "Backseat Driver," which originally aired February 3, 1949. The highest production values enhanced Suspense, and many of the shows retain their power to grip and entertain. At the time he took over Suspense, Lewis was familiar to radio fans for playing Frankie Remley, the wastrel guitar-playing sidekick to Phil Harris in The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show. On the May 10, 1951 Suspense, Lewis reversed the roles with "Death on My Hands": A bandleader (Harris) is horrified when an autograph-seeking fan accidentally shoots herself and dies in his hotel room, and a vocalist (Faye) tries to help him as the townfolk call for vigilante justice against him. With the rise of television and the departures of Lewis and Autolite, subsequent producers (Antony Ellis, William N. Robson and others) struggled to maintain the series despite shrinking budgets, the availability of fewer name actors, and listenership decline. To save money, the program frequently used scripts first broadcast by another noteworthy CBS anthology, Escape. In addition to these tales of exotic adventure, Suspense expanded its repertoire to include more science fiction and supernatural content. By the end of its run, the series was remaking scripts from the long-canceled program The Mysterious Traveler. A time travel tale like Robert Arthur's "The Man Who Went Back to Save Lincoln" or a thriller about a death ray-wielding mad scientist would alternate with more run-of-the-mill crime dramas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspense_%28radio_drama%29

★EdenRules/伊甸園/Vườn Địa Đàng : http://edenrules.com ★Subscribe/訂閱/Đăng Ký : http://edenrules.com/index.php?route=newsletter/mynewsletter At a gathering between Supreme Master Ching Hai and Association members in France 2008, Master told stories of the Wise Mullah Nasrudin and profound stories from the poems of Rumi. Why did Mullah Nasrudin choose money instead of wisdom in the face of the king? Why did such a great master have to endure his wife’s sarcastic criticism? The Supreme Master also explained the meaning of “The Story of Kharraqani” in a delicate way: “One day when you get old, think of all the upheavals in your life, all the retribution that has been thrown on your path: you will feel ‘How lucky I have been trained with the merciful hand of heaven so that I have become humble.’ Because you become nothing, you become great, you become your true Self.” http://edenrules.com/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=868&product_id=592

★EdenRules/伊甸園/Vườn Địa Đàng : http://edenrules.com ★Subscribe/訂閱/Đăng Ký : http://edenrules.com/index.php?route=newsletter/mynewsletter On May 9th, 2009, Supreme Master Ching Hai was invited to attend the videoconference on global warming entitled “Be Organic Vegan to Save the World.” During the conference, the Supreme Master pointed out that the oceans play a major role in regulating the global climate. However, fishing has severely disturbed the complex ecosystems of the world’s oceans. Since global warming spares no one, each person is responsible to do their best in awakening noble qualities in themselves; that is to adopt an organic vegan diet, which not only benefits our health so that we can keep diseases away but also helps strike a balance between agriculture and the environment. The Supreme Master said, “If we wish to live healthily and happily ourselves, we should let others live likewise. This is the best guideline.”

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks

My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling "Bravo!" in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.) Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality. Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely. And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
