Find a satellite in 3 screens: 1- Location, 2- Satellite, 3- Director. Warning: The compass of your phone can get inaccurate because it is affected by magnetic fields or because it is weakened by age. Calibrating the compass may not help or it may only work correctly for a few moments. The app is add free. Screen 1: Location. There are 2 methods to do this. Method 1: Enable the GPS in your phone and wait until the GPS fix is ready. It can take several minuts before your phone has a GPS fix. Method 2: Alternative, disable the GPS in your phone and manually enter the GPS coordinates. The GPS coordinates are in the format degrees dot decimals. You could use Google Earth to find the your GPS location, or, use a real GPS receiver. Screen 2: Satellite. Select the satellite tab. There are over 270 Satellites in the list. When no satellite is selected Satellite Director automatically scrolls to the satellite closest to your GPS location, or, when you have already selected a satellite to the selected satellite. In this case I select "Astra 2F | 2A | 1N | 2D" at 28.1 degrees but then Iuse a Satellite position of 28.2 of "Astra 1N | 2F". Screen 3: Director. Select the director tab. I assume that the pole on which the satellite dish is mounted is aligned perpendicular to the earth with a plummet or plumb line. Satellite Director has calculated the azimuth, elevation and skew for Astra 2 for my location. I use these calculated values to set the dish elevation at 26.8 degrees, and for the dish skew or LNB skew at -15.7 degrees. When this is ready I continue with the azimuth. Hold the phone 30-50 centimeters above the satellite dish. This distance is required to avoid disturbing the compass. I align the top of my phone to the satellite's azimuth by turning clockwise or counter clockwise until the cyan ball is in the cyan circle. Align the offset arm of the satellite dish in azimuth with the cyan arrow while the cyan ball remains in the cyan circle. You can do both simultaniously. The satellite dish points now, in azimuth, to the satellite. To further improve the received signal I use the signal strength page of my satellite receiver, and fine tune manually the dish elevation, skew and azimuth. This is a tricky job, because the alignment can easy become faulty. The only solution is repeat the same alignment sequence "elevation, skew, azimuth" for 1 or 2 times. That is all.

When searching for appropriate site for installation of PV modules, the following is to be considered: • Orientation towards the sun, • Lack of shading, • Minimization of the length of the cables between the PV array and the inverter, • Aesthetics, • Protection from theft and vandalism, and • Easy access for installation and maintenance. Now, let’s see what is to be done during a site survey. Step 1 is assessing any possible shading by nearby objects. The PV array should be provided with clear and unobstructed access to sunlight. Shading is not recommended. Even small shadows can affect severely the power output of the PV array. Step 2 is determining the available area on your roof. Usually access space around the modules adds up to 20% to the required area for placing PV modules. You should not try to use every last square inch on your roof mostly because the PV array gets difficult to install and hard to maintain. The challenge is how to position the PV modules of a solar system so that the solar resource be used in the most effective way? The two important parameters related to PV module orientation are azimuth and tilt angle. Step 3 is determining the orientation and tilt angle. You should use a compass to check what direction your roof faces. The ideal roof for mounting your PV array is a roof facing south if you live in the northern hemisphere, and facing north if you live in the southern hemisphere. Here are some practical values for mounting the solar array. The last step is finding the suitable mounting among the four options: • sloped roof mounting, • flat roof/ground mounting, • roof-integrated mounting, and • wall mounting. Regarding mounting constructions, please remember: • Not every mounting construction is suitable for any kind of module. • You could ask the supplier of the PV modules to install them on the roof. • Sufficient cooling of the PV modules should be ensured. • You might need a design visa and/or a build permit. Type O2B RAF WW2 Bomb Aimer's Sighting Compass Military Pattern Mk O2B Compass and Azimuth 1942 This is a so called Aperiodic compass. The RAF used high quality compasses of the aperiodic type. They settled onto a true course after a turn without any overcompensation. The reason they were so reliable was due to their sophisticated features; a strong magnetic moment, small inertia and heavy damping. Compasses were prefixed either P for Pilot usage or O for the Observer. The magnet system of this compass features two strong bar magnets close to the central pivot point and eight indicator arms (The spider arms) that move within the damping effect of the alcohol filled bowl. That's the reason why this magnet system moves slowly and does not overshoot. The Azimuth Compass was designed to allow navigators to obtain an accurate bearing of a geographical feature or the Sun. The compass would be mounted on a fixed pole and aligned with the aircraft. By rotating a bezel on the top of the compass body, the sighting aperture would be brought into line with the feature and its bearing could then be read off the compass card through the glass prism mounted above. A small lamp housing next to the prism allowed use at night. This compass is in excellent condtion and comes with the original case. As the aircraft headed towards its target there would be drift caused by wind. In effect, the plane would look like it was on a constant heading but would be blown off course sideways. As bombers were usually above cloud level for most of their journey, the sighting compass could not be used on land objects and was mainly used to find the azimuth of the Sun, hence tha darkened nirror and glasses which are also found on sextants, to protect the eyes. The bomb aimer had the duty of collecting navigational data for the navigator and, in the early years of the war, before D.R., this would have been his primary instrument, only changing over when near the target: There were no such things as navigators and air bombers until the role of the 'observer' (who covered both duties) was officially split into the two new functions in spring 1942. The 'observer' was a hangover from earlier days where navigation was more by sight ('data gathering') than by Dead Reckoning ('data processing'). The new role of navigator reflected the reality that navigation was now primarily 'data processing' and not 'data gathering' and the aircraft had to be navigated through the target area and safely on track for home on D.R. Only very, very rarely was map reading in the target area possible. Hence, the new role of bomb aimer looks for quite a while like the old 'data gathering' function of the observer, leaving the new navigator free to do the D.R. navigation or 'data processing'. The bomb aimer was responsible for 'data gathering' tasks such as map reading, getting pinpoints and logging observations on weather, defences etc. (the F2330 Met log required a lot of data gathering). The Mark XIV bombsight also allowed him to take running bearings on ground objects to assist the navigator. And of course, he dropped the bombs, but increasingly on markers and not on an 'identified aiming point'. In addition, he could man the front turret if required and he also picks up the job of chucking window down the chute from July 1943. From mid-1943, he was also the preferred 'second pilot' and most bomb aimers in all Groups spent a lot of time in the Link Trainer. However, by late 1943, things were changing. In essence, 'data gathering' had become very important again, but using Gee, H2S, G-H (and Loran soon to reach P.F.F.) rather than the Mark I Eyeball. Now, the bomb aimer becomes a true '2nd Navigator', formalised in the responsibilities of the 'Navigation Team' (from around Nov 1943) where Nav 1 is responsible for 'data processing' and Nav 2 is responsible for 'data gathering' (and these were the phrases used). Nav 2 also drops the bombs, sometimes from the bomb aiming position, but also often 'blind', using H2S. It takes time to get the Navigation Team concept established due to practical problems such as shifting the 'second pilot' role to the F/E, moving the window chute so the F/E or W/Op can chuck window out etc. H2S deployment in main force was also slower than anticipated due to a shortage of scanners in early 1944. Even though H2S played less of a role after July 1944 (when it was discovered how vulnerable it was to tracking and interception), the full suite of radar aids to navigation means the 'Nav 2' role remained through to the end of the war. To simplify: 1940/41 - Observer, who navigates (and also drops the bombs). 1942/43 - Navigator + Bomb Aimer (who also helps the Navigator). 1943/44 - Navigator 1 + Navigator 2 (who also drops the bombs).

How does an ILS work? One of the most ask question regarding how an airplane flies towards the runway without any visual aids. So the Instrument landing system is a ground based radio navigation system giving pilots a lateral and vertical guidance towards the runway as they are in approach in IMC (Instrument Metrological Conditions). To fly an ILS approach, the aircraft has to be fitted with an adequate ILS receiver to display and converted the picked up signals on the cockpit instruments. Besides that, you need the necessary ILS approach chart with important data like ILS frequency and identifer code, ILS inbound course and glideslope angle, given minimum descent altitudes or heights depending on the ILS category, and last but not least the go arround procedure. The so called localizer is an antenna array normally located beyond the end of the runway and generally is built up of several pairs of directional antennas. They send out radio signals in the horizontal axis of the runway.(This is very often mistaken, as many airports have to Localizer antennas, for either direction of the runway. So this plane right here is not flying in regards to this antenna right here, but to the antenna at the far end of the runway it´s landing on) Also important to know, at the same time the localizer transmits the so called ILS facility identification code. What is that good for? Because the frequency range for the ILS is fairly small, you could pick up the wrong ILS frequency of a nearby airport. Therefor each ILS sends out it´s own morse code, for example the ILS identifaction code for John F.Kennedy airport runway 04Right is IJFK, which will be displayed in our ILS receiver instrument or you have to actually listen to the morse code and compare it to the one on your ILS approach chart. I love quack products, and this is quite an intriguing one. It claims to use electrical current to draw all the impurities out of your body and down into a tub of water via your feet. In use you sit with your feet in a tray of water with a disposable liner (for staining reasons), and a special detox electrode is placed in the water next to your feet. A wristband may be connected to your arm or possibly a pad to your neck, with the theory being that a small electrical current flows between there and your feet to help flush out your body toxins. In reality the pads or wristbands are either doing nothing or are acting as simple sensor to detect when you actually have your feet in the water. You sit there for about 30 minutes while the water your feet are in gradually goes brown and yukky as all the toxins from within your body are pulled out. But in reality the brown sludge is being generated by the controlled DC electrolysis of the electrodes reacting with the ordinary table salt in the water. The results are then analysed using a colour chart to determine exactly what was purged from your body. After your expensive pampering you leave to go to the nearest coffee shop, feeling wonderful because your body has been cleansed of impurities. Job done.

Best viewed in HD. Miami, FL. This "object" also responded clearly to mirror signals. This particular sighting was recorded with the usual three cameras, but also directly on the Sony HD camcorder on the Meade scope, so it is in mts format too, and also very likely I got some segments on a Panasonic v520 camcorder. So this was recorded at least for four different independent systems and likely by five. Three cameras used: 1- A modified LG, 1/3"CCD, standard definition, with 16-160mm motorized lens and 950nm pass IR filter, USB video capture card used in a PC with iSpy. 2- An unmodified HD-SDI, 1/3" Panasonic CCD, high definition, on a 900mm Telephoto no filters. AJA HD-SDI video capture card used in a PC with iSpy. 3- An Sony HD camcorder digiscoping in a 25mm eyepiece on a Meade 1000mm short tube scope, no filters. Using an Aver Media HDMI HD video capture card on a nearby extra PC running iSpyServer, that PC basically converts the Sony Camcorder into an IP camera. That IP camera is then added to the "main station" indoors as the third camera. iSpy(http://www.ispyconnect.com/) is used as a viewer/recorder of the three side by side viewing windows and to overlay on the footage in real time the current date/time of recording and the azimuth and elevation position. Recording is activated manually on the spotter view that then trigger recording in the other two views. As I have said it before: there is nothing especial about my location, or any location in particular, I believe that it will be the same in ANY other place, this channel was started with that hypothesis in mind, sightings like this one are confirming that hypothesis. It is up to you to see it with your own eyes and/or your camera. The argument to justify that is very simple: if these objects have an earthly origin since they appear to be in the high level of the atmosphere then they will be all over the planet because the conditions on those high levels are almost the same in any location, now if these objects are not from earth then since the universe extend in all directions, these objects will be coming from any direction at any time. A sector antenna is a type of directional microwave antenna with a sector-shaped radiation pattern. The word "sector" is used in the geometric sense; some portion of the circumference of a circle measured in degrees of arc. 60°, 90° and 120° designs are typical, often with a few degrees 'extra' to ensure overlap and mounted in multiples when wider or full-circle coverage is required (see photos below). The largest use of these antennas is as antennas for cell phone base-station sites. They are also used for other types of mobile communications, for example in WiFi networks. They are used for limited-range distances of around 4 to 5 km. A typical sector antenna is depicted in the figure on the right. At the bottom, there are RF connectors for coaxial cable (feedline), and adjustment mechanisms. For its outdoor placement, the main reflector screen is produced from aluminum, and all internal parts are housed into a fiberglass radome enclosure to keep its operation stable regardless of weather conditions. Grounding is very important for an outdoor antenna so all metal parts are DC-grounded. The antenna's long narrow form gives it a fan-shaped radiation pattern, wide in the horizontal direction and relatively narrow in the vertical direction. According to the radiation patterns depicted, typical antennas used in a three-sector base station have 66° of horizontal beamwidth. This means that the signal strength at the ±33° directions is half (3 dB down) from its peak value at the center. At the ±60° directions, it is suggested to be a border of a sector and antenna gain is negligible there. Vertical beamwidth is not wider than 15°, meaning 7.5° in each direction. Unlike antennas for commercial broadcasting - AM, FM and television for example - which must achieve line-of-sight over many miles or kilometers, there is usually a downward beam tilt or downtilt so that the base station can more effectively cover its immediate area and not cause RF interference to distant cells. The coverage area, which is determined by the projection of the radiation pattern on the ground, can be adjusted by changing the downtilt of the pattern. In some models this is done mechanically by manually adjusting the tilt of the antenna with an adjustable mounting bracket. In more recent sector antennas the pattern can be electronically tilted, by adjustable phase shifters in the feed of the individual dipole elements. These are adjusted by a remote control circuit from the ground, eliminating the need for a technician to climb the antenna tower. To increase or widen the coverage area, and thus the number of served clients, several sector antennas are installed on the same supporting structure, e.g. tower or mast. Such a construction is often called a sectorized antenna, though sometimes for brevity "sector antenna" is used as well. It has several angularly-separated sector antennas as shown on the figures at right. Once the antenna unit is attached to a supporting structure, it has to be positioned. Positioning means not only setting a correct direction or azimuth, but setting a correct downtilt as well. By restricting emitted energy to a sub-circular arc and narrow vertical coverage the design makes efficient use of relatively low power transmitter equipment. Though absolute range is limited, this configuration allows for good data rates (digital information transfer measured in bits/second, sometimes given as total minus error-correction overhead), and good signal consistency within the coverage area. Prior to positioning, grounding and lightning protection are required. As seen in the pictures, all supporting constructions have lightning rods. A well-chosen downtilt setting strategy can lower the overall interference in the network. A too-aggressive downtilting strategy will however lead to an overall loss of coverage due to cells not overlapping. Downtilting can be used to solve specific problems, for example local interference problems or cells that are too large. Electrical tilting slightly reduces beam width. In a picture on the right, there are two sector antennas with different mechanical downtilts. Note that a more vertical antenna is less visible than a mechanically tilted one - the use of purely electrical tilt with no mechanical tilt is therefore an attractive choice for aesthetic reasons which are very important for operators seeking acceptance of integrated antennas in visible locations.

This is a simple project based on Arduino and MPU-6050 to measure angle. This project we will later use in our Arduino based robot projects. MPU-6050 comes with a gyro and an accelerometer in a single package. Pitch angle and roll angle were calculated then complementary filter were used to find final angle. In This video I do a brief tutorial of re-aligning your satellite dish after hitting with a lawnmower or whatever. This is not instruction for a full install. I am assuming you know the approximate direction the dish was pointed and that it was only knocked over a little bit. A full alignment will require a compass and I don't get into all that here in this video.
