Stephen Rees-Carter https://2019.linux.conf.au/schedule/presentation/246/ Stephen joined the Wordfence Site Cleaning team part-time at the start of 2017, having virtually no experience with WordPress, Wordfence, or cleaning infected websites. His only real credentials were a love of PHP development, a keen interest in security, and the crazy idea that cleaning infected sites would be fun. Fast-forward to the end of 2018, Stephen has stepped back from site cleaning and has joined the Wordfence team full time as a developer, so now it's time for him to tell his story. In this talk he will share stories from the more memorable sites he cleaned (names changed to protect the innocent), including revealing his all-time favorite WP malware, and the epic tale of the persistent attacker that almost thwarted the Wordfence team completely. Scattered throughout will be tips and ideas to help protect your site from compromise and keep everyone (except the bad guys!) happy. linux.conf.au is a conference about the Linux operating system, and all aspects of the thriving ecosystem of Free and Open Source Software that has grown up around it. Run since 1999, in a different Australian or New Zealand city each year, by a team of local volunteers, LCA invites more than 500 people to learn from the people who shape the future of Open Source. Shell Australia recently brought together global and local technical experts and engine manufacturers to participate in the third annual Shell Mining and Transport Technology Forums held in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Shell Technology Forums provided customers the opportunity to have an open dialogue with Shell technical experts to discuss the challenges facing today's energy industry, and how to work together towards possible energy solutions. Shell is working with partners and focusing on key areas including integrated natural gas, biofuels, carbon capture and storage and energy efficiency. At the Shell Technology Forums, sessions were held on biodiesel and its implications, current and future Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technologies, developments in engine technology, fluid management best practice and using technologically advanced products to help improve operations. Global Futurist and Thought Leader Dr Keith Suter was a guest speaker at the Forums, and said Shell has developed a technique called "scenario planning" to help think about the future of global energy demands. Scenario planning is not what's currently being suggested or what you would like to see happen, but considers the possibilities of change that are out there that we're not seeing yet. Mount Isa, today very much a ghost town rather than Australia's largest copper producer and major source of lead and zinc. The industrial dispute stretching into months of deadlock has caused a complete shutdown of underground mining, and the resultant economic repercussion are little short of disastrous. Every working day this huge plant lies idle costs Australia a loss in export income of 135,000. Obviously, millions of pounds are involved. Intervening, the Queensland Govenment issued emergency orders in Council, principally aimed at preventing Labour Council President, McMahon, and unofficials miner's leader, Pat Mackie from returning to Mount Isa, after Trade union-Fund Raising discussions in Sydney. This is a memorial to Campbell Miles, who first discovered mineral in the Mount Isa area in 1923. In those days isa was a cattle town and transit point for the wide-spread stations throughout the channel country. It was, and still is, a hard, rugged expanse which could perhaps best enjoy the typical description of a "thirsty brown land". The hill country on the outskirts of Mount Isa, where prospectors search for the bonanza, and which, when it was found, turned out to be a virtual mountain of copper. Active mining commenced in 1932, and the first signs of a vast industry began to show. Isolated from civilization, the attraction of big money brought miners to work, and then to stay, with their families to work, as the town continued its growth. Preparing for compulsory conferences aimed at settlement, representatives of unions involved. JACK DEVERAUX, HARRY PEEBLES and COL. EMERY. Another official involved, the President of the Queensland Trades and Labour Council JACK EGERTON seen here with PAT MACKIE. 👍Thanks for SUBSCRIBING! https://goo.gl/hhuynx 👍 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brisbricks puts on a 3 day LEGO Fan show every year at Chandler in Brisbane in the massive floor space of an arena. It is no small feat to fill all that arena with LEGO displays. I have been a visitor to pretty much every show they have done since 2012, but this was the first time going as a YouTuber content creator. There was a massive Golden Gate Bridge that took up a large length of the space, the "Largest GBC in the Southern Hemisphere" and many MOC or modified LEGO creations. There were play tables for the kids and RC cars to play with.
