There is a lot of leaves down now and it is hard to hunt geodes. We need a good rain so they wash away and the rocks get turned over and have a fresh pile of rocks to hunt through. I just love doing this.

Paleo Prodigy Opens a Geode for Rare Fossils - Crystal Win Fossil FAIL

06:48
If you liked this one, here's another video where I open a bunch of geodes and rocks!!! http://youtu.be/qs3HC4wsZcQ And one has some beautiful tiny crystals!!! And here is where his brother opens one: http://youtu.be/gkl2fMqWNB4 This is a concretion or septarian nodule. We didn't get lucky this time. But it's usually the hunt that can be the most fun!!! These are Nodules/Concretions from Ozan Formation in North Texas! Compare to the Moeraki boulders of New Zealand.
Geode hunting in my yard.

09:18
I got a creek that washes the gravel. And it is easy to look through the rocks and find geodes. I haven't found and arrow heads yet but I keep on looking. It is a great place to get away. Ive been hunting geodes for 34 years. I use to only pick up the big ones till I got serious and started looking for them. I wasn't really looking for them and I would keep 3 or 4 a year. Big ones. Very peaceful.Yet I don't have a cell phone yet (I do now. Aug 2018) . But I carry my camera every where I know they will require one some day like a personal tracking device. Never use a selfy for a password. Never. Updated 1 11 18.

American Geode talks to youngsters about Indiana geodes and geology

00:44
American Geode spoke in spring of 2016 to a group of youngsters in Indianapolis, Indiana about the geodes from the Hoosier state, and the geology of Indiana, formed by the glaciers that sat atop the state during the Ice Age. Indiana geodes and Midwest minerals, gems and geodes are the specialty of American Geode. We visit rural and remote Indiana at least once a year to excavate the sedimentary geodes that washed out from the world famous limestone found in Souther Indiana. For more information about geodes, gems, minerals and geology, please go to http://www.americangeode.com We are a source of geodes, minerals, gems, and fossils for collectors, academics in geology and paleontology, museums, and even interior design professionals. Cracking a Geode

05:49
My Lab class and I crack a Geode apart and take a look at the crystals that formed inside it. At 3:04 I use the term condrite when what I meant to say was concretion. Chondrites are a type of stony meteorite containing small mineral granules. A concretion is a a hard solid mass formed by the local accumulation of matter, especially within the body or within a mass of sediment.

Hunting for Agatized Coral in Georgia - Gem, Mineral and Fossil Collecting the Florida State Stone

10:33
We set off on a collecting trip for gems, minerals and fossils all in one with agatized coral, the Florida state stone! This incredible geological oddity occurs in only a few places in the country. The mineral chalcedony, a microcrystalline type of quartz, replaces the original calcium carbonate of the coral and eventually forms into agate. Grains of sand or perhaps pieces of the original calcium carbonate serve as a nucleus for the agate to begin forming radially around a point, leading to the botryoidal (grape-like) mineral habit. Occasionally, an additional layer of druzy quartz crystals will grow on top of the botryoidal agate. If you like videos like this, don't forget to leave a like and hit that subscribe button!
