Produced in 1945, "Hannibal Victory" documents the activities of the World War II Victory Ship S.S. Hannibal Victory, named after Mark Twain’s Mississippi River hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. Departing from San Francisco, the ship carries a cargo of eight steam locomotive engines and cars across the Pacific to the Philippines. The crew’s daily routines are portrayed along with occasional threats by Japanese vessels. During World War II, 534 "Victory ships" were built to transport materials to support United States military efforts in theaters of operation across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Victory ship (officially called VC2) was 455 feet long and 62 feet wide. A cross-compound steam turbine with double reduction gears developed 6,000 or 8,500 horsepower. The first of 534 Victory ships, the S.S. United Victory, was launched on February 28, 1944. The next 34 Victory ships were named for each of the Allied nations; the subsequent 218 were named after American cities (one of them named for Hannibal, Missouri in recognition of successful war bond sales), the next 150 ships were named after educational institutions, and the rest received miscellaneous names. The 10,000 ton S.S. Hannibal Victory, hull number 579 was built by Permanente Metals Corporation's shipbuilding division in Yard No. 2 at Richmond, California in January 1945. Since her retirement the Hannibal was last reported as being "In reserve" in Suisun Bay near San Franciso, California. The following is a transcript of the narration of the motion picture produced by the U.S. Maritime Commission in 1945 which documented the maiden voyage of the Hannibal Victory across the Pacific Ocean to the Philippines. Some of her cargo included one of six locomotives and railroad car wheels manufactured at the Hannibal Car Wheel and Foundry at 1200 Collier Street. in Hannibal. The half hour color film was photographed on location in Hannibal and aboard the ship as she crossed the Pacific from San Francisco to the Philippines. After the war in September, 1946 Vice-Admiral William Ward Smith of the the U.S. Maritime Commission came to Hannibal to present the 8 by 18 foot battle flag of the Hannibal Victory to the city and the documentary film was also premiered on that occasion. Taking part in the flag presentation ceremony were Governor Phil Donnelly; Mayor W. J. Schneider; William C. Garnett, president of the Chamber of Commerce; Floyd Shoemaker of the State Historical Society, Fred Hibbard, sculptor of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn statues; and two attorneys who had just returned from the war, Elgin Fuller and Branham Rendlen. In order to leave the system and jump to the next one, you will need to gather enough fuel to power up the jump drive and at the same time collect credits and resources to craft items and upgrade your ship. The mix of persistent progression (blueprints and personal wealth) and temporary progression (crafting and equipping your ship during a run) combined with an ever-changing universe and a rewarding story will make you want to start over again and again to eventually reach your final destination. We won’t make EVERSPACE ultra hardcore and unforgiving. Rather, every time you die you will be able to improve your starting conditions for all the following runs. Permanently increase the capacity of your shields, install better engines, improve sensors, upgrade weapons, and attach armor plates – just to name a few. Most ship upgrades will be directly visible, while some will have a huge visual impact, e.g. upgrading your wings will lead to an entirely different look. You will be able to dig into the depths of the upgrade tree. Think of perks and upgrades that can change a lot of things – unlock new abilities and equipment, improve various stats and enable several other benefits that may change your play style. Ships Background: Originally developed to transport supply's through the most lawless areas of the galaxy, after returning from the nebula sector it had suffered considerable damage to its rear engines, causing it to become a drift. As the crew were rescued by a marine unit and it was decided that it was far to dangerous to begin repairs in this lawless sector. A new recruit was left to arm the remaining charges around the vessel. As he attached the magnetic mines to the hull he failed to notice that the ships hull would be resistant to such a charge. As the marine unit pulled away the clacked was pressed, a massive explosion was seen in the distance and it was thought to have been destroyed. The explosion had done nothing but shaken and destroyed the ships navigation beacon. This was all witnessed by a group of outlaws hidden in an asteroid to avoid the marines detectors. With a bit of duct tape they manged to get the systems back online. From this point on the ship exchanged hands on many occasions, through brute force and sometimes a bad hand of cards. It wasn't till a man with the name Nick Nitro won the ship in a poker game when it was given the name nightmare by its pursuers. The ships and its crew are wanted in over 63 sectors. The Orcus Mining Frigate features two remotely controlled drones with a max range of 5km. One such drone is meant for drilling ore, and the other for grinding scrap. This is not a war ship, it is meant for mining excursions throughout the asteroid field. Featuring two onboard refineries, and two scripts to help manage everything on board. This ship also has two refineries, two assemblers, a medical bay, and plenty of storage for everything you mine. Be wary, though, as you can easily mine ore much faster than it can be refined. The reason for two scripts was due to the fact Automatic LCDs 2 gives me more useful information than just what is on board the ship. Automatic LCDs will tell you how much hydrogen you have, or if a section is pressurized. Mods used: OCD Hydrogen and Oxygen tanks, Azimuth Mega mod pack and Tiered Thrusters pack.

Shipping is one of the fastest growing and most heavily polluting industries. Shipping fuel releases ultra-fine soot particles which can damage health, as well as various global warming pollutants including black carbon from incomplete fuel combustion, nitrogen oxides, nitrous oxide and of course CO2. Despite the recent introduction of mandatory efficiency targets for shipping vessels, these do not come into force until 2015 - and many of the restrictions can be circumvented. Reducing industry’s environmental impact will clearly take a long time. A Swiss-led venture, PlanetSolar, is attempting to change the direction of future maritime travel with Tûranor, the world’s largest solar-powered sea vessel. The 31-metre-long catamaran, which is covered with 600 square metres of photovoltaic panels, stores solar energy in the world’s largest lithium ion battery. It drives the vessel's silent, pollution-free electric motor, which can continue to operate in the absence of sunlight for around three days. The ship’s name, inspired by Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, means "power of the sun". Its creators believe that high-performance solar mobility can be realised today by making innovative use of existing materials and technology, and they aim to take an active part in advancing research in renewable energy. As Raphaël Domjan, the project's pioneer explains: "We want to be the Phileas Fogg of the 21st century… our project is meant to serve the environment and to enable solar energy to replace fossil fuels, and to motivate engineers and scientists to develop these technologies". In December 2010, the Tûranor began an epic 19 month voyage in a bid to become the first entirely “solar” vessel to circumnavigate the globe. Assisted by French meteorologists, the crew of four chose the most efficient course according to weather conditions, following an equatorial route to maximise sunshine. For this segment of Earthrise, Oliver Steeds boards the Tûranor in the Red Sea to join the crew for a leg of this historic voyage.

However, for example, if you have an assembler with no storage attached, you lose points. Q4: I would like to use multiple small ships, is that ok? A4: So long as they are LOCKED to the large ship. Q5: I would like to use multiple large ships, is that ok? A5: So long as they are connected by a motor. Landing gear does not count. Q6: Are you sure I can't work in a group? The Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) is a railway tunnel through the Alps in Switzerland. It opened on 1 June 2016, and full service began on 11 December 2016. With a route length of 57 km (35.4 mi) and a total of 151.84 km (94.3 mi) of tunnels, shafts and passages, it is the world's longest rail tunnel, surpassing the Seikan Tunnel in Japan. Its main purpose is to increase total transport capacity across the Alps, especially for freight, notably between Germany and Italy, and more particularly to shift freight volumes from road to rail to reduce environmental damage caused by ever-increasing numbers of heavy lorries. A secondary benefit will be to cut the journey time for passenger trains from Zürich to Milan by about an hour and from Zürich to Lugano to 1-hour 40 minutes. The project consists of two single-track tunnels. It is part of the AlpTransit project, also known as the New Railway Link through the Alps (NRLA), which includes the Lötschberg Base Tunnel between the cantons of Bern and Valais and the under construction Ceneri Base Tunnel (scheduled to open late 2019) to the south. It bypasses the Gotthardbahn, a winding mountain route opened in 1882 across the Saint-Gotthard Massif, which is now operating at capacity, and establishes a direct route usable by high-speed rail and heavy freight trains. The total cost of the project is 9.8 billion Swiss francs, or US$10.3 billion. When completed, the Gotthard Base Tunnel will be one of the longest tunnel construction projects in the world: 20 years of constant construction and preparation.
