Which S&P500 ETF is the Best? [SPY vs. VOO vs. IVV]

05:58
Taking a look at the most popular ETFs out there, which are the ETF trackers. Comparing the three main competitors from Vanguard, SPDR and iSharers (Blackrock) I'm looking at expense ratio, dividend, liquidity, Inflow and commission free offers. Investing for all is a project seeking to provide basic information about how and where to invest in stock market. The stock market is a safe place to put your money and has given great returns over hundreds of years. I often touch on topics such as Investing for beginners, stock recommendations, ETFs, stock market basics, how to find and evaluate new stocks etc. Stocks go up and down, don't invest simply based on what you hear or see in my videos. I might have a bias towards stocks I talk about, but I try informing my viewers when this might be the case. My personal stock portfolio currently consists of the following stocks: Activision Blizzard Apple Alibaba Amazon DNB BOTZ ETF Hannon Armstrong sustainable infrastructure Intel Corporation JPMorgan Lockheed Martin LIT ETF Nvidia Taktwo Interactive Vanguard small-cap growth ETF Waste Management Square Inc

SMALL CAP ETFs - ANALYSIS & HOW TO INVEST IN SMALL CAPS

07:51
What do I do? Full-time independent stock market analyst and researcher: https://sven-carlin-research-platform.teachable.com/p/stock-market-research-platform Check the comparative stock list table on my Stock market research platform under curriculum preview! I am also a book author: Modern Value Investing book: https://amzn.to/2lvfH3t More about me and some written reports at the Sven Carlin blog: https://svencarlin.com Stock market for modern value investors Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/modernvalueinvesting/ We know that stocks are generally overvalued and that small caps usually outperform other stock market segments albeit with more volatility. Now, there has been a lot of talk how even small caps are overvalued and a part of the stock market to definitely avoid even if it is tempting to search for opportunities where Wall Street is renowned for missing them. A Wall Street article was recently titled “How much are small caps overvalued?”. Let’s dig into the U.S. small cap environment to see what is going on. I’ll start by taking a look at the iShares Core S&P Small cap ETF (IJR) that tracks the S&P 600 small cap index. Small Cap performance As said, small caps usually outperform and their performance over the last 18 years has been nothing short of stellar. $10k invested in the ETF in 2000 would be now north of $50k not including any dividends while the S&P 500 is up ‘only’ 83%. A 500% performance leads many to believe the small cap environment is hugely overvalued.

Dividend ETFs That Help Investors Focus on Quality

04:16
Visit https://www.etftrends.com Income-minded investors have found quality investment exposure through dividend-growth exchange traded fund strategies that specifically target companies with a long track record of steadily raising payouts. For example, the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats Index acts as the underlying index for the popular ProShares S&P 500 Aristocrats ETF (BATS: NOBL) and is comprised of companies that have consecutively raised dividends for at least 25 years. "We take a very simple approach with dividend growth because it's all about finding quality companies. Screening for those who can increase their dividends every year, even in difficult financial times, gives you companies with strong balance sheets, strong franchises, good track record of growing earnings and even cash flow," Simeon Hyman, Head of Investment Strategy for Proshares, said at the recent Morningstar ETF Conference.

High Dividend ETF iShares Core High Dividend vs. Vanguard Dividend Appreciation (HDV, VIG)

06:31
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do The opening stock market action of 2016, mostly a picture of unnerving volatility and disappointing returns, has many investors turning their attention away from share price appreciation and more toward income available through solid dividend yields. In uncertain economic conditions, investors are also drawn to dividend-paying stocks because they typically carry less risk, since most high-dividend companies are large, well-established firms. One of the easiest ways of getting exposure to a basket of high-dividend yield stocks is through buying shares of a dividend-focused ETF. Two popular choices in the category of dividend ETFs are the iShares Core High Dividend ETF and the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF. iShares Core High Dividend ETF The iShares Core High Dividend ETF (NYSEARCA: HDV) was introduced by BlackRock Inc. (NYSE: BLK) in 2011. The fund has $5.2 billion in total assets, and an average daily trading volume of $37.5 million. An average bid-ask spread of just 0.02% shows this ETF as being extremely liquid. It tracks the Morningstar Dividend Yield Focus Index, a dividend-weighted index that is composed of 75 U.S.-listed stocks screened for both dividend sustainability and high earnings. Fund holdings are weighted by the amount of cash dividends paid rather than by dividend yield. The leading market sectors comprising the fund's holdings are energy at 21%, consumer defensive stocks at 19%, and health care sector stocks at 17%. The top three portfolio components are Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM), Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) and Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX). The annual portfolio turnover ratio is 63%. The expense ratio for HDV is 0.12%, well below the large-value category average of 0.32%. The 12-month dividend yield as of May 2016 is 3.6%. The fund's five-year average annualized return is 11.85%, outperforming the category average of 10.89%. As of mid-May 2016, the fund was up 8.42% year to date (YTD), which was much better than the category average 3.85% Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF Vanguard launched the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (NYSEARCA: VIG) in 2006. It is the most widely held dividend ETF, with total assets of $20.7 billion, an average daily trading volume of $79.5 billion, and an average bid-ask spread of 0.01%. VIG tracks the NASDAQ US Dividend Achievers Select Index, a market cap-weighted index composed of U.S.-based companies that have increased their dividend payouts for at least 10 consecutive years. The index contains approximately 180 stocks. Consumer defensive stocks account for 23% of the portfolio assets, followed by industrials at 22% and health care stocks at 15%. The fund's top three holdings are Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) and PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP). The portfolio turnover ratio is relatively low at 22%. The fund's expense ratio is 0.10%, substantially below the large blend category average 0.37%. The fund offers a dividend yield o

Building My Portfolio with BlackRock ETFs and Mutual Funds (ITOT, IXUS)

07:11
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do Find the building blocks for a well-diversified, low-cost portfolio in BlackRock’s extensive lineup of iShares exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which are among the oldest and most widely traded ETFs on the stock market today. Originally managed by Barclays Global Investors in 1996, iShares became a core component of BlackRock’s fund offerings that have amassed nearly $4 trillion of assets under management (AUM). The vast iShares menu offers a fund for every market index and nearly every asset class along with variations in investing style and risk profiles. If you are a beginning investor, start with the iShares Core Builder tool, which can help you select iShares funds that will form the core of your portfolio. Depending on your risk profile, the initial portfolio is built around four to eight core funds that represent the broadest cross section of equities and bonds to create a well-diversified portfolio. The Core Builder tool recommends the following portfolio of funds for a moderately aggressive investor with an 11- to 20-year investment horizon; it is composed of 68% stocks and 32% bonds. iShares Core S&P Total US Stock Mkt Recommended allocation: 51% The objective of the iShares Core S&P Total US Stock Mkt ETF (NYSEARCA: ITOT) is to track the performance of the S&P Composite 1500, which is comprised of the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and the S&P SmallCap 600. At any time, the fund holds stocks representing at least 90% of the total U.S. market. Having such broad exposure to the U.S. stock market allows your portfolio to capture returns in all segments of the market while reducing volatility. Because it has exposure to small- and mid-cap stocks, it has the potential to outperform funds that invest exclusively in S&P 500 stocks. Some of the key holdings in this fund include Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, General Electric and Berkshire Hathaway. iShares Core MSCI Total Intl Stk Recommended allocation 17% Management fee: 0.14% A well-diversified portfolio should include international stocks that tend to perform differently than U.S. stocks. What is an ETF? How does an ETF Work? - Watch & Learn

49:52
What is an ETF? Introduction – Why Invest in Stocks? So why prefer stocks when there are other financial instruments? The simple answer is that stocks go up in value in the long run. The US Stocks have consistently outperformed inflation and have generated real returns despite various drawbacks. There has never been more money supply by the government than today, and all this money goes into assets, as a result we have "asset price inflation". This is just an economic expression for when the prices of bonds, shares, their derivatives, real estate and other capital goods increase in price as opposed to inflation of goods and services. And right now asset price inflation is mostly in stocks. To drive home my point, stocks have increased 4x since 2009. This brings us to a financial instrument that makes it easy to invest in the broad stock market, ETFs! What is an ETF (or exchange traded fund)? Let’s start off with the perfect context, what is a fund? At its core a fund is a collection point for investors’ capital. The way it works is that thousands of investors pool their investments together in a fund, and a professional, the fund manager, invests these funds as profitably as possible while diversifying. But these investments are done according to a planned investment strategy. It is through investment strategy that allocation of funds to various asset classes such as bonds, stocks, commodities is determined. Bear in mind that in a fund, the investor’s assets are segregated, which means that the funds are held by a depository bank, separate from the company assets. This is to protect investor’s money in case the investment company becomes insolvent. The typical investment fund is active, which means that the fund manager is responsible for achieving returns higher than the benchmark. This active fund management is different from managing index funds. What is an index fund? An index fund represents the development of an index as accurately as possible. The components and their respective weight, in an index funds are exactly the same as the index itself. If you invest in an index fund, you have the advantage of knowing the exact composition since it replicates the index. For instance, the underlying composition of EURO STOXX 50 is known at any given time. The EURO STOXX 50 is the European stock index and holds 50 of the largest corporate stocks of Euro zone in a proportion determined by their free float market cap. In an Exchange traded fund or an index fund, there is no complicated mechanism for stock picking, it’s simply a replication of an index, as opposed to active funds. And this is why managers of index funds and ETFs receive small annual fee. What is an Exchange Traded Fund? Exchange traded fund or an ETF, is exactly what it sounds like, a fund that’s traded on an exchange, like the stock of a company. ETFs combine the benefits of intraday trading and liquidity of stocks, with the diversification of index funds. A simple way to understand ETF is to imagine an asset manager that buys a bunch of assets, say, 100 stocks of FTSE 100, and puts them in a fund. To be clear, FTSE 100 (total return) index tracks 100 largest stocks in the U.K. Now the asset manager, gets this fund listed on the stock exchange like a company, and issues its shares to public. An actual example of this strategy is iShares Core FTSE 100 UCITS ETF (Dist)… An ETF that seeks to track the performance of FTSE 100 index. The names of many ETFs might sound too long and complicated but when you break them down they make sense. For instance, iShares represents the family of exchange-traded funds managed by BlackRock, an American global investment firm, it’s the world’s largest asset manager with about $5.7 trillion asset under management. Core FTSE 100 part represents investment style, which in this case is to track the performance of FTSE 100 index. The last part UCITS stands for “Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities”. In simple terms, it only means a European mutual fund. Here it represents the investment structure of the ETF. Similarly you can break down Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF. Vanguard is a huge name, it is an American investment advisor with over $4.5 trillion of assets under management. S&P 500 part is the investment style, which means that it tracks the performance of S&P 500 index. When the underlying assets (the assets that an ETF holds) appreciate in value, the price of that ETF on the exchange also goes up conversely, when the assets’ depreciate in value, the price of the ETF on the exchange goes down in value. ETFs go through price changes during market hours as they are bought and sold. Which is why these typically have higher liquidity and lower fees compared to mutual fund shares. This makes them an attractive investment for individual investors.

AGG iShares Barclays Aggregate Bond ETF

06:11
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do The iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (NYSEARCA: AGG), which tracks an index of U.S. investment-grade government and corporate bonds, provides an opportunity to obtain a broad, diversified exposure to the overall bond market with a single investment. Bond exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are becoming an increasingly popular method for investors to diversify their overall investment portfolios with a selection of investment-grade fixed-income securities. Many investors appreciate the fact that the regular income from bonds provides a safety cushion against downturns in stock market investments. ETFs commonly provide quarterly distributions, rather than just annual or semi-annual payments. Bonds also provide superior protection in the event of bankruptcy, compared to stocks. Bondholders are in a significantly better position as far as recovering their investment in bankruptcy proceedings than common stockholders. Additionally, bond funds help to reduce overall volatility in an individual's investment portfolio. Bond ETFs typically have very low costs. The iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF tracks and seeks to mirror the performance of the Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index. The index is designed to reflect the overall U.S. investment-grade bond market. It includes U.S. government bonds and corporate bonds, along with mortgage pass-through and other asset-backed securities. The index only includes taxable, fixed-rate securities denominated in U.S. dollars, with at least one year remaining to maturity. The fund does not carry the exact same holdings of the index, which consists of about 8,000 debt securities. Instead, the fund uses a representative sample of approximately 2,500 of the index holdings. Additionally, in order to obtain more favorable buy or sell prices, the fund manager exercises discretion as to the extent that the fund will sometimes purchase an issue prior to its being added to the index, or hold an issue beyond the point where it has been removed from the index. The fund is rebalanced monthly, and the annual turnover ratio required to track the index accurately is approximately 120%. The turnover ratio in excess of 100% implies that the fund maintains holdings for less than one year on average. Major holdings of the fund include U.S. Treasury bonds (T-bonds) and notes (T-notes), Fannie Mae mortgage-backed securities (MBS), and corporate issues from KfW (KFW), Verizon (VZ) and Bank of America (BAC). Characteristics This fund from Blackrock was launched in 2003, and it has performed well. Its 10-year average annual return, as of 2015, is approximately 4.27%. The fund has net assets in excess of $25 billion. The ETF's mix of debt security holdings is approximately 40% U.S. government issues, 30% corporate issues and 30% MBS. Among corporate issues, the financial and industrial sectors account for the overwhelming majority of issues. The weighted average coupon value of the fund's holdings is 3.28%, and the average weighted ma

IWF iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF

06:01
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do The iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF (NYSEARCA: IWF) tracks the performance of the Russell 1000 Growth Index. This index is comprised of large- and mid-cap U.S. equities that show characteristics of growth. These characteristics of growth include higher price-to-book (P/B) ratios and higher forecasted growth. This index is rebalanced annually. The index is constructed according to rankings of eligible companies by their P/B ratios, their forecasts for medium-term growth and five-year historical sales growth. The rankings are then standardized, with a value valuable comprising 50% of the score and the growth variable the other 50% which creates a composite value score. The equities are then ranked again according to their scores, with a probability algorithm according to the CVS distribution. Higher CVS scores are considered value stocks, while those with lower CVS scores are more growth-oriented. The fund is widely diversified with 644 holdings. The top 10 holdings have a total weighting of slightly over 22%. The largest holding is Apple, Inc., with a weighting of 6.15%. The second-largest holding is Microsoft Corp., with a 1.97% weighting. Facebook is the third-largest holding, with a 1.89% weighting. The fund is weighted towards technology companies, as shown by the three largest holdings. In terms of exposure breakdowns, information technology has the largest weighting with 27%. This is followed by the consumer discretionary sector, with a 20% weighting. The health care sector is the third-largest sector, with an 18% weighting. Characteristics The fund is issued by the iShares Trust and is managed by BlackRock Fund Advisors. The fund has a low management fee of 0.2%. The passive management and lack of turnover in the fund keeps the costs down. The expense ratio does not include applicable commissions and brokerage fees. Shares of the fund are listed on NYSEARCA. The fund has net assets of around $30 billion, with 300 million shares outstanding. The daily average volume for shares traded is around 1.59 million. The fund is quite liquid, which allows investors to enter and exit positions easily. Suitability and Recommendations IWF is suitable for more growth-oriented investors. IWF is by far the largest-cap growth-oriented fund with a substantial amount of assets under management. It contains a significant 17% weighting towards mid-cap stocks. The fund has a lower three-year standard deviation of 8.86%. Standard deviation is a statistical measurement of historical volatility. The fund pays a limited annual dividend of 1.2%. There are no bonds held in the portfolio. The fund has an equity beta of 1.02 versus the S&P 500. This means it generally trades in the same direction as the S&P 500. The fund trades generally the same as the S&P 500; it is unclear whether the fund has any significant advantages over the S&P 500. Big Activity in Mid-Cap ETFs

04:30
https://goo.gl/QPCkqk - Start earning with binary options like millions of traders do The S&P MidCap 400 Index is up 7.3% year to date. While that is an advantage of 100 basis points over the small-cap Russell 2000 Index, the mid-cap benchmark is lagging the S&P 500 by a wide margin. Data suggest that some market participants are stepping into some well-known mid-cap exchange traded funds (ETFs). For example, the Vanguard Extended Market ETF (VXF) has added $79 million in new assets this month. VXF is not a dedicated mid-cap ETF. Rather, it is combination mid-/small-cap ETF intended to serve as a completion instrument for investors holding traditional large-cap index funds or ETFs. The Vanguard fund holds over 3,200 stocks with an average market value of $4.1 billion, putting the ETF's roster at the lower end of the mid-cap realm. (See also: An Efficient ETF for Ex-S&P 500 Exposure.) Overall July flows to the iShares Core S&P Mid-Cap ETF (IJH) and the iShares S&P Mid-Cap 400 Growth ETF (IJK) are tepid, but that situation has changed in dramatic fashion late in the month. The $6.9 billion IJK tracks the S&P MidCap 400 Growth Index. IJH and IJK have reeled in $1 billion and about $280 million compared to VXF's $770 million in recent sessions via obvious investor appetite for mid-cap stocks, said Street One Financial Vice President Paul Weisbruch in a note out Thursday.Year to date, IJH has reeled in $3.6 billion in new assets, which is notable even given the fund's $40 billion asset base, while IJK has attracted about $810 million and VXF just shy of $1 billion respectively during this time frame. (See also: IJH: iShares Core S&P Mid-Cap ETF.) Flows to IJK jibe with the themes of the growth factor outperforming other investment factors this year and investors looking to tap this performance with smart beta ETFs focusing on growth equities. IJK is up 10% year to date compared with the 7.3% gain for the standard S&P MidCap 400 Index. IJK allocates over 24% of its weight to technology stocks, the best-performing group in the U.S. this year. Industrial and financial services names combine for over 30% of the fund's weight. Although growth stocks have a reputation for being more volatile than stocks that are not considered growth names, IJK's three-year standard deviation of 11.2% is actually below the comparable metric on the S&P MidCap 400. IJH is one of the most popular U.S. mid-cap ETFs, as highlighted by its over $40 billion in assets under management. One reason for that popularity is its modest annual fee of 0.07%, or $7 on a $10,000 stake. Like IJK, IJH's top three sector allocations are technology, financials and industrials. Those groups combine for nearly half of IJH's weight. (See also: Buy-Ranked Mid-Cap ETFs for a Shaky Market.)

If the FED rises rates 4 times in 2018 there will be more ground lost. However, there is a dividend strategy that will do well no matter what. One of the most loved investing strategies is dividend investing. Dividends are something that we can feel gives us a reward at least once a year and are a much more sure thing than many other possible investment returns. However, lately it hasn’t been a great time for many dividend investors as yes, dividend yields have been going up, but asset prices have also been going down, especially with many of the beloved dividend stocks. Today we discuss what is going on and how to approach such a situation if you are a dividend investor. Let’s start with an overview, take a look at the most probable scenario and conclude by putting the current dividend investment scenario in a historical perspective. Dividend investing overview Now, I am a firm believer the market is irrational which means that more often than not, it offers investors great butter risk reward opportunities than what the market average is. However, the case with dividend stocks is a bit different. The fund is well diversified, a bit overweigh energy but that is exactly where the largest dividends are. The management fee is practically nothing at 0.08% and the dividend yield is 3.62% which is much higher than the S&P 500 dividend yield of 1.84%. Now the performance of the DHV ETF has been nothing short of stellar since inception and $50 investing in 2011 would now be $85 not counting the yield over time. A dividend of 3.8% is great but if you lose another 10% in the next 6 months you need 3 years for the dividend to cover the loss. So, if the FED continues to rise rates, the yield on the safe haven Treasuries will also increase and consequently investors will require a higher yield from dividend investments. If the required dividend yield goes to 5%, you can expect the HDV ETF to decline to a price of $61.2 if the current dividend holds. A decline of $24 implies 8-years of dividends which is a lot to risk for a premium of just 55 basis points (0.55 of a percentage point) above the 10-year Treasury.
