Welcome to Top10Archive! We live in a day and age where nuclear power is becoming a common need for daily life. In 2011, the Key World Energy Statistics found that 10% of the world's electricity was provided via nuclear power plants; but what, ultimately, fuels these plants to provide power? All across the globe, uranium mines gather the natural resource used as the basis of all nuclear power; and while many countries contribute to the mining of uranium, these 10 countries provide the highest amount per year, based on tonnes mined in 2013. These are the top most most dangerous radiation hot spots in the world from nuclear weapons testing to power plant explosions! Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 6. Fort D’Aubervilliers Originally constructed as fortification to protect Paris from going under attack in 1846, it’s actually now one of the world's most radioactive places. It’s here where some of the first tests on radioactivity were conducted. Frederic and Irene Joliot-Curie both worked with salts of radium-226. People have noticed a large amount of cancer in the area especially in a school near the fort in 2002. High doses or radioactive contamination appeared to be the only plausible explanation and a study in 2006 confirmed the radioactivity. 5. McClure Radioactive Site A company looking to build some houses came across a startling discovery when surveying new land in Ontario Canada. The McClure site was contaminated with high amounts of radium from industrial use and a large amount of the soil as contaminated. They found out later that the plant in the area was put radioactive scrap metal in the ground for experimental purposes. The researchers had wanted to see if the radioactivity would somehow accelerate plant growth. The experiments were obviously unsuccessful but the area remains contaminated to this day. Some people have some crazy theories! 4. McGuire Air Force Base During the Cold War, America was quite eager to have the best nuclear arms of any country in the world. The McGuire Air Force Base was seriously contaminated from weapons grade plutonium in 1960. Located just south of Trenton, this was home to Launch Shelter 204 that stored nuclear, intercontinental ballistic missiles. An unexpected explosion happened in a helium that caused a fire in the nuclear tipped BOMARC missile. The fire burned for about 15 minutes and was extinguished with water. This resulted in radioactive material and water to flow throughout the air force base. Some pieces of debris were found a half mile from the explosion. It could have been much worse considering how close it is to populated areas. The contaminated area stretches an estimated 7 acres and it’s closed off with a barbed wire fence. So don’t even think about coming here! 3. Mailuu-Suu This place is one of the most polluted and radioactive sites in the world. Located in Kyrgyzstan, it’s radiation is derived from the large amount of Uranium ore deposits. Mining operations from 1946 to 1968 left this place severely damaged. They managed to mine nearly 10,000 tons of uranium ore for the Soviet nuclear program. A landslide that took place in 1958 released 6000 cubic meters of material from this mine, leaving radioactive particles all over the place. There’s more than 20000 times the amount of normal radiation at this location. When the mining operations ended, it left many people without jobs. It’s believed that many settlers of this region, put themselves in danger and attempt to sell of the metal to scrap metal dealers. 2.Chernobyl Exclusion Zone Chernobyl and Pripyat were both quickly evacuated after a horrific meltdown took place at the nuclear power plant Reactor number 4 on April 26, 1986. People fled this area so quickly that they left many of their belongings behind. As a result of the meltdown, no one has been allowed to live here due to the high amounts of radiation set off from the explosion. The toxic cloud of particles affected a large part of eastern europe and some material was even found as far away as Switzerland. This photo here depicts what's known as the elephant foot is the reminisce of the black lava firefighters found that oozed directed from the core of the power plant. This is basically molten radioactive lava and certainly not something you want to get close. Stand next to this thing for 300 hundred seconds and you’ll only have two days to live. Although nature has been able to flourish here, mankind certainly won’t be making their way back to this place any time soon. 1.Fukushima Power Plant ` A tsunami that struck the coast of Japan in 2011 after an earth and it’s the worst nuclear power plant disaster since Chernobyl by a longshot. The reactors automatically shut down and the tsunami destroyed the emergency cooling generators causing it to overheat. This lead to not one, not two, but three nuclear meltdowns and the releasing of radioactive material all over the area. It was given the Level 7 classification by the International Nuclear Event Scale. This has lead many people seriously concerned for their health in this area and the eventual number of cancer victims could be through the roof! Radiation hotspots like this one in kashiwa are completely closed from the public. Radioactivity is now found much more often through the entire Pacific ocean and has been causing mutations in plants and animals in many parts of the world.

Who on Earth is exposed to the most ionizing radiation? Check out Audible: http://bit.ly/AudibleVe I'm filming a documentary for TV about how Uranium and radioactivity have shaped the modern world. It will be broadcast in mid-2015, details to come. The filming took me to the most radioactive places on Earth (and some places, which surprisingly aren't as radioactive as you'd think). Chernobyl and Fukushima were incredible to see as they present post-apocalyptic landscapes. I also visited nuclear power plants, research reactors, Marie Curie's institute, Einstein's apartment, nuclear medicine areas of hospitals, uranium mines, nuclear bomb sites, and interviewed numerous experts. Notes about measuring radiation: Sieverts are a measure of 'effective dose' - that means they measure the biological impact of the energy transferred to tissues from radiation. Obviously I owe a debt to the fantastic chart made by xkcd, which inspired my visual approach to this video. https://xkcd.com/radiation/ DOSES MAY VARY The level of radiation varies widely around the world depending mainly on altitude and geology (excluding nuclear accidents). Estimates of particular doses also vary. All numbers reported in this video should be taken as order of magnitude only. The most contentious claim may be that smokers receive the highest dose of ionizing radiation. This is not a whole body dose, but a dose to the lungs as specified in the video. Let's face it: Humans are pretty messy. Industrial processes like mining and manufacturing are important parts of keeping civilization going, but they all impact the environment. Sometimes that impact is particularly big and messy, leaving behind hazardous waste that can take years or even decades to clean up. South Africa's TauTona mine, real life alchemy, and Halicephalobus Mephisto. Footage from the 2012 documentary, "Down to the Earth's Core". We have travelled into space and looked deep into the universe's depths, but the world beneath our feet remains unexplored and unseen. Now, that's about to change. For the first time in one epic unbroken shot, we embark on an impossible mission - using spectacular computer generated imagery to smash through three thousand miles of solid rock, and venture from our world into the underworld and on to the core of the Earth itself. It's a journey fraught with danger. One thousand feet down we find ourselves inside one of the planet's most volatile places - the San Andreas Fault. Caught between two huge rock slabs, we watch as stress builds and then releases. It unleashes an earthquake and blasts us on towards rivers of molten rock, explosive volcanoes, tears in the Earth's crust and giant tornadoes of liquid metal. But for every danger, there are wonders beyond imagination. Four hundred feet below the surface, a three hundred million year old fossilized forest, with every leaf and every piece of bark perfectly preserved. At one thousand feet down we enter a cave of giant crystals, glistening in deadly 122 degree heat. More than two miles underground we find buried treasure - gold and gems. Deeper still there are valuable resources - salt, oil, coal and iron. And over one hundred miles down we see the sparkling beauty of diamonds. As we descend we piece together our planet's extraordinary story. We rewind time to discover how prehistoric forests became modern-day fuel. 1700 feet down a layer of rock reveals the extraordinary story of the dinosaurs' cataclysmic death. We watch stalactites form and gold grow before our eyes. The deeper we travel into the underworld the more we understand our world above the surface. A bigger picture takes shape - a cycle of destruction and creation, driven by the core that sustains our dynamic planet and makes the Earth the only planet with life in a seemingly lifeless universe. Until, finally, three thousand miles down, we reach the core. Inside it lie the secrets of life as we know it - the magnetic force field that protects life on Earth from the sun's deadly rays, the ancient heat source that keeps our planet alive. Down to the Earth's Core brings the latest science together with breathtaking computer generated imagery. The result is an unmissable journey into an extraordinary world - full of dangers, wonders and secrets. And it's all down there, beneath our feet, right now waiting to be discovered.

From the worlds largest gold mine found on the top of a mountain to the largest diamond mine in the world here are the most massive mines in the world! Subscribe to American EYE! 5.. Asbestos Mine, Canada Also known as the Jeffrey Mine, it’s located in Asbestos, Quebec and it was in operation until 2012. It’s a whopping 2 kilometers wide and 370 meters deep! Check out this thing on google maps and you can tell how completely massive this thing is! It’s the by far the largest asbestos mine in the world. For a long period of time, people would use this mineral to put into their walls and keep their homes from catching on fire! But recently there’s been a link with asbestos and a disease called mesothelioma, which is a lung condition. This is a toxic substance that people should avoid, so obviously this large mine went out of business. The lake at the bottom might look like an inviting blue, but you can bet your bottom dollar, it’s highly toxic! The small town that grew with the thriving asbestos industry feels like they’ve kind of lost their identity once the mine was forced to close, but people do still live there. 4. Mcarthur River Uranium Mine In case you were wondering which mine produces the most uranium in the world, that would be of course the Mcarthur River uranium mine in Saskatchewan Canada. This huge deposit was found in 1988 and finally a mining operation took place in 1997, when it began producing what’s known as Yellowcake. It’s not the kind of yellow cake you’d eat with your grandparents. This stuff has a horrific odor and basically what it is, is concentrated uranium powder which can then be used for powering nuclear reactors. We imagine this powdery substance is quite difficult to get ahold of. There aren’t a ton of photos of this place but, it does produce about 13 percent of the global uranium production across the globe. 3. Diavik Diamond Mine In case you thought it was Africa who had all the massive diamond mines, think again! The Diavik Diamond mine, found in the the northwest territories of Canada is one of the largest producers of diamonds in the Northern hemisphere and this place is pretty crazy! They annually produce 7 million carats of diamonds each year and you better believe it’s not easy to get here. The Diavik mine is found north of the arctic circle and it’s definitely cold! This photo here shows the subarctic landscapes that surround the diamond mine. You thought getting to work in the morning was tough for you? Imagine trying to get to work here! Just recently in 2015, this diamond produced what was known as the Diavik Foxfire 187.7 which is one of the largest rough gem quality diamonds ever produced. 2. Siberian Diamond Mine Also known as the Mirny Mine, The USSR began searching for ways to make to make themselves a more economical stable and independent union. In 1955 the Soviets discovered large diamond deposits at this site in the far away lands of Siberia and many people got to work very quickly in order to help bring wealth to the union. After about 20 years of operations, they finally decided that At one point this mine produced 10 million carats of diamonds a year and reaches a max depth of 524 meters or around 1700 feet making it the 2nd largest excavated hole in the world. The mine is so deep, airspace is closed over the hole due to helicopter crashes caused from the downward flow of air. The construction of this in the frigid conditions of Siberia must have been grueling and downright cruel. Sources state that the machinery used at this mine had to be covered at night or it would freeze Are the diamonds worth freezing to death?! It’s unoperational today but Some claim that there’s still a bunch of diamonds in this mine and the whole thing could be worth about 12 Billion dollars. It’s possible that controlling this diamond is mine is crucial to controlling the price of diamonds across the world. Bingham Copper Mine The bingham copper mine located near Salt Lake City Utah is home to the biggest pit in the world and it’s been in operation since 1903. It’s about 2.5 miles wide and if it were a stadium, it would be able to fit an estimated 9.5 million people. It keeps getting bigger and bigger too! Diligent workers can move about 250,000 tons of rock each day and it’s even become a tourist attraction in recent years before a massive landslide took place. Some claim that this was the biggest non volcanic landslide to take place in North American modern history. This photo we see here shows you the aftermath of this massive landslide and Bingham Copper mine and it makes you wonder how safe some of the conditions at these mines truly are. The landslides were so massive, that they actually triggered a few small earthquakes! Experts estimated that 165 tons of earth slide down from the top of the mine all the way to the bottom.

From the time of Göbekli Tepe! And who were these mysterious people? This is something they just do not want to talk about. It would seem that 11,000 years ago, people fleeing rising sea levels, landed and set up stone circles. There was a CIVILIZATION here. They had agriculture, trade with axes and currency, everything! They all died out. Archaeology does not mention their amazing stone circles! From impossible pools of sulfur, to gnarly volcanic wastelands, here are 10 Harshest Uninhabitable Places on Earth Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 10. Snake Island 9. Death Valley 8. Antipodes Islands 7. Minqin County, China 6. Litla Dimun 5. Australian Outback If you think you got what it take to survive in the harsh australian desert, then you dare you to try to live in the Australian outback for a few weeks on your own and see how it goes. The center of eastern australia, seems to completely lack resources unless you’re looking for snakes, toxic chemicals, or uranium. This is home to Lake Disappointment, which really doesn’t seem to inviting. Here in this photo we see a that was once used to store uranium, left in the outback. (What Photo?) So you really you shouldn’t get your hopes up about living here. The lake is rather salty and someone is probably disappointed :( Some people tried to settle in wittenoom Australia when an extremely large amount of blue asbestos was discovered. This however, didn’t turn out so great and didn’t know exactly how extremely toxic blue asbestos truly was. 4. Montserrat A small little island in the Caribbean would seem like a great place to inhabit with plenty of lush forests and black sand beaches. But the positive things about Montserrat seem to end there and it’s home to an extremely active volcano, making a majority of it completely uninhabitable! The capital city of Plymouth was completely destroyed after a volcanic eruption happened here and you can see the destruction for yourself on google maps! Other places like richmond hills to the north were abandoned shortly after. It’s certainly not a welcoming view, seeing a volcano steaming from gases relentlessly from the peak. Here in this photo from the 1990’s we see the capital of the British overseas territory, completely draped in ash. To this day, the area surrounding Soufriere Hills, is covered in sharp volcanic glass and not the fine white sands you’d prefer to see in the Caribbean. Very few have returned to the island after the eruption but they should be fearing for their lives. 3. Siberia (Pronounced Wrong) If you dare to venture off into the far east of Russia, you will come across some of the most brutal conditions on the face on the planet. The siberian winter is no joke folks and it has the power to turn you into a popsicle in a matter of hours. The population density of this massive chunk of land is about 3 inhabitants per kilometer making it the most sparsely populated region in the world and for good reason. You certainly do not want to end up in a work camp here! The green forests might seem inviting, but you can safely bet your money, they will completely covered in snow by the time october comes. Some villages manage to reach temperatures -67 degrees celsius or -89 degrees fahrenheit! If the extreme cold doesn’t get you, a bear most likely will! Some claim that the road that while constructing the M56 highway through siberia, it earned the nickname “the highway of bones” due to the sheer amount of lives lost from the frigid conditions here. 2. Danakil Depression We mentioned this place briefly in our most color places video but this is seriously not a place you want to move to! Ethiopia is already a difficult place to live and then you add places like Dallol to the mix and you wonder how anyone can actually survive here! With an average high of 121 degrees in July, people who come to this region just want to get a few things and get the heck out! There used to be a settlement in this location but it was abandoned after mining a few tons of salt. The landscapes of this place are like something from an entirely different world. The Dallol sulphur springs emit a horrendous odor and make up part of Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression. Possibly the lowest and hottest place on earth, the water below the earth is extremely salty, toxic and hot. You can probably make a trip here to check it out but don’t plan on staying long! 1 Antarctica Antarctica is the only continent on Earth that has no permanent residence and it’s completely uninhabitable. No towns, no cities, no commercial industries just a few scientific research stations were people some how manage to tough out the extremely harsh conditions for a few weeks then get the heck out! Here in this photo we see a few heavily vehicles left at Oasis Station originally built by the Soviets. If the Russians can’t handle the cold no one can, except for the penguins! Trying to establish any kind of base here is nearly impossible and there’s still equipment left over from those who dared settling on this continent. Not only is it cold, it’s also the the windiest place on earth on average. While there is some fresh water here, it’s all frozen or buried under miles of ice! Only 11 people have actually been born on antarctica but don’t expecting it to become permanently populated anytime soon.

Norilsk, Russia. Population 177,000. It's the northernmost city in the world — and the most toxic. Filmmaker Victoria Fiore spent two years trying to gain access to this closed-off city. After a dozen failed attempts at a visa, she was finally allowed to enter. This film is part of The Atlantic Selects, a showcase of short documentaries from independent creators, curated by The Atlantic.

Although the story gained very little media attention, the details along with the photographs of the event, we found have extremely interesting, Especially when we took into account our previous research done regarding the strange ancient anomaly, known as waffle rock. A half buried, suspected fragment of a once larger object of possible alien origins, which has remained half buried, resting where it struck the earth all those years prior. Noe submerged under water as the result of a controversial reservoir project which swallowed the stone and the town which had built up around it. David recalled the event with his wife on the site, they had just returned from a weekly 600-mile distribution route to find a somewhat urgent message from a reader in Colbert, Oklahoma. When they returned his call, he told them about him meeting a man while he was out looking for old arrowheads in the Kiamichi Mountains. This man had found stone tablets with some form of alien writing on them, he seemed eager to go investigate these caves with quote, "little people’s skulls and bones found with the tablets. The caller gave some extremely vague instructions on getting to the place, no names and no call back details, intrigued by the story, they figured the worst that could happen was that they would have a nice Sunday in the mountains. After getting to the vague location given and after several hours of searching the woods, they eventually came across an extremely peculiar looking, possibly cyclopean wall. Their initial investigations baffled them, they had never seen ancient stone structured in such a way, they highly suspected that it was of artificial origin due to the small apparent stones, tightly interlocking which made up its structure, it wasn’t until they climbed atop that they must have realised the true scale of their discovery. From the other side, the stones appear to be a highly complex arrangement of interlocking different mineral or metallic compounds, often displaying a honey comb structure, the layers of which a result of highly accurately cast layers stacked together to make inter connecting blocks of iron like stone. Sue photographed the wall and cells while David climbed over two more "parapets" to the summit. He recalled on the site, quote, What I saw there began to seep into my brain like ice water. Jumbled about in a haphazard fashion were acres of squared, dressed and notched stones. It was eerie standing on those shattered ramparts with all those tumbled stones like a desecrated cemetery. End quote Were these strange fragments, possibly once a single and very large object? They clearly share similarities with waffle rock which is located in West Virginia Are both these anomalous items connected? were they once a part of a very old, and now semi fossilized alien craft? Many have argued that waffle rock is a natural formation yet others, have always attested to it having alien origins. What David has discovered may be another piece of the puzzle regarding the waffle rock mystery. Often cases of strange rocks made up of strange metals are attributed to Furness activity, yet I hope more investigation into this clearly huge and perplexing site is undertaken, and more detailed studies into its clearly complex makeup are completed. How could this strange object possibly have come to be resting, broken into fragments within an Oklahoma forest. another strange object made from a similar anomalous mineral, metallic like material is the ancient Baltic sea anomaly, are both of these strange artefacts ancient spaceships? More details regarding David and Sues curious discovery is clearly needed, we will keep you posted. http://www.viewzone.com/sender.html

Three years ago, the United Nations commissioned the world's top scientists to find out if global warming can be limited. This week, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published their report, saying that it is possible to limit global warming and prevent a climate catastrophe. The report is seen as the main scientific guide for government policymakers on how to implement the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aims to limit the rise in global average temperatures to "well below" 2 degrees Celcius above pre-industrial levels, while seeking to tighten the goal to 1.5C. "The report maps out how much worse it would be if we get to 1.5C, how much worse again if we get to 2C. Some of those numbers are striking," says Michael Grubb, professor of energy and climate change at University College London. "The report estimates that with 1.5C warming we'll lose something like 70-90 percent of the world's coral reefs. If it goes up to 2C, then we're talking about [losing] 99 percent. Those kind of statistics give you a sense of what we're dealing with, similar to the change of the Arctic ice." The IPCC says we can limit global warming and prevent a climate catastrophe - but there is a deadline. One which critics say is not technologically feasible or economically practicable. Meeting the 1.5C target will require a 45-percent cut in carbon emissions by 2030 and building a global net zero carbon emissions economy by 2050. If you're putting money into coal power stations or mines, you're taking a huge strategic risk on all fronts. Michael Grubb , professor of energy and climate change, University College London Melissa Price, the Australian environment minister, was quick to respond to the report, saying she's more focused on bringing down electricity prices than phasing out coal. Of all the different types of fossil fuel, coal produces the most carbon dioxide - and Australia is the world's biggest producer. "In terms of any investors listening, my first advice would be, if you're putting money into coal power stations or mines, you're taking a huge strategic risk on all fronts," says Grubb. "Whether it's local air pollution, global, the general pressures, coal is the first in the line of fire, and we've seen dramatic reductions in the UK, much of Europe, and even North America." As things stand, decarbonising the world's electricity system fast enough to meet the IPCC's targets would involve, at the very least, global consensus, a major paradigm shift, and trillions of dollars. "One of the big changes in the political dynamics in the last 10 years has been the Chinese position. They're emitting substantially more now than the United States. But what has really shifted the politics in China has been local air pollution," says Grubb. "What we see is a tremendous drive from the central government to try and close down old and inefficient coal power stations, put clamps on what had been a massive programme of coal power station construction." "Beijing has basically banned coal burning in its regions and is now set to ban petrol-driven cars because of the local air pollution. What I see is a big shift in terms of both its energy policy and its geopolitical positioning to say, 'Of course, China has to be part of the solution and we intend China to do well by being involved in the emerging clean technology businesses'." Also on this episode of Counting the Cost: Africa's cities: Africa's population of roughly 1.1 billion is expected to double by 2050, with more than 80 percent of that growth occurring in cities. The UN projects that 10 of the world's fastest-growing cities over the next 17 years will all be in Africa. Eight African cities are expected to more than double in population size in the next few years. The continent's top three fastest-growing cities are Dar es Salaam, Nairobi and Kinshasa. "On the good side, as these cities will get bigger, they'll have a more conglomeration of benefits that potentially can increase productivity that cities offer. We know that in Africa that families moving to big cities probably double their household incomes and job opportunities for all the people in the household. But the challenge is being able to manage that population growth and have livable cities," says Vernon Henderson of the London School of Economics. I decided to finally take a remote back-road "trick route" I'd always wanted to try bypassing Tonopah on the way up from Las Vegas to Reno, Nevada. Wow, what a strange trip! A little single lane road in the middle of nowhere complete with a bizarre, sort of spooky and creepy (in a way), semi-ghost town! One of the oddest abandoned places we've seen in our years of desert travel. In over 2 hours of driving we saw not ONE other car...nor a single human being. Even when driving through the little town itself. Abandoned cars, trucks..even abandoned soda machines! But not a soul did we see! Haha..I thought being so close to area 51...maybe the aliens abducted everyone! Looks kinda like Fallout New Vegas or Nuketown. a scene straight from GTA! This is why we LOVE Nevada!! No place like it on Earth! ~Kenneth King Bear

Reupload of a previously uploaded film, in one piece instead of multiple parts, and with improved video & sound. Public domain film from the US National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Teapot Operation Teapot was a series of fourteen nuclear test explosions conducted at the Nevada Test Site in the first half of 1955. During shot "Wasp", ground forces took part in Exercise Desert Rock VI which included an armored task force "Razor" moving to within 900 meters of ground zero, under the still-forming mushroom cloud. The Civil Defense "Apple-2" shot on 5 May 1955 was intended to test various building construction types (nicknamed as "Survival Town") in a nuclear blast. A few of the buildings still stand at Area 1, Nevada Test Site. A documentary film was produced showing the buildings being damaged by the blast; in the film, the test is called "Operation Cue". Stock footage from the nuclear test was used in the 1983 TV movie The Day After during the explosion sequence. A retrospective documentary film known as The "Survival Town" Atom Test recorded the nuclear detonation effects of the test. An augmented test unit from the United States Marine Corps participated in Shot "Bee" during the March 1955 exercises. The notable MET (Military Effects Test, shown in all images at right) was the first bomb core to use uranium-233 (a rarely used fissile isotope that is the product of thorium-232 neutron absorption), along with plutonium. It produced a yield comparable to the "Fat Man" plutonium weapon exploded over Nagasaki, but a third less than the expected amount. Teapot "MET" (Military Effects Test) detonated on a 400-foot tower over Frenchman Flat on 15 April 1955, with a yield of 22 KT. This bomb is notable as the first inclusion of uranium-233 (rather than uranium-235) in its core. This series preceded Wigwam and followed Operation Castle... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada_National_Security_Site The Nevada National Security Site, previously the Nevada Test Site (NTS), is a United States Department of Energy reservation located in southeastern Nye County, Nevada, about 65 mi (105 km) northwest of the city of Las Vegas. Formerly known as the Nevada Proving Grounds, the site, established on 11 January 1951, for the testing of nuclear devices, is composed of approximately 1,360 sq mi (3,500 km2) of desert and mountainous terrain. Nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site began with a 1-kilotonne-of-TNT (4.2 TJ) bomb dropped on Frenchman Flat on 27 January 1951. Many of the iconic images of the nuclear era come from NTS. The Nevada Test Site contains 28 areas, 1,100 buildings, 400 miles (640 km) of paved roads, 300 miles (480 km) of unpaved roads, ten heliports and two airstrips. History Established as a 680-square-mile (1,800 km2) area by president Harry Truman on December 18, 1950 within the Nellis Air Force Gunnery and Bombing Range. 1951--1992 Between 1951 and 1992, there were a total of 928 announced nuclear tests at Nevada Test Site. Of those, 828 were underground. (Sixty-two of the underground tests included multiple, simultaneous nuclear detonations, adding 93 detonations and bringing the total number of NTS nuclear detonations to 1,021, of which 921 were underground.) The site is covered with subsidence craters from the testing. The Nevada Test Site was the primary testing location of American nuclear devices; 126 tests were conducted elsewhere (many at the Pacific Proving Grounds in the Marshall Islands). During the 1950s, the mushroom clouds from these tests could be seen for almost 100 mi (160 km) in either direction, including the city of Las Vegas, where the tests became tourist attractions. Americans headed for Las Vegas to witness the distant mushroom clouds that could be seen from the downtown hotels. On 17 July 1962, the test shot "Little Feller I" of Operation Sunbeam became the last atmospheric test detonation at the Nevada Test Site. Underground testing of weapons continued until 23 September 1992...

While the incredible complexity and architectural precision has baffled archaeologists for decades, there is a far more perplexing mystery specifically surrounding the pyramids within this ancient place. The presence of “Mica,” a powerful radioactive insulator, is perhaps one of the biggest enigmas of these great ancient structures. Established, or quite possibly re-inhabited around 100 BC, until its fall between the seventh and eighth centuries. Teotihuacan was one of the largest cities in the ancient world, with over 150,000 inhabitants at its peak. According to archaeologists the advanced design of Teotihuacan suggests that ancient builders had advanced knowledge, not only of architecture, but of complex mathematical and astronomical sciences. Additionally, one of the more intriguing characteristics, differentiating it from many other ancient sites, is the fact that from the air, Teotihuacan strangely resembles that of a modern computer circuit board. Curiously, when Hernan Cortes and his men conquered the Aztec empire in the sixteenth century, they asked the natives who had built such a colossal city… The Aztec replied; “We were not the builders of Teotihuacan, this city was built by the Quinametzin, a race of giants who came here from the heavens in the times of the SECOND SUN.” The Aztecs were in fact the ancient civilization that named the place “Teotihuacan,” yet they did not know the original name for the city. The pyramids had remains buried, hidden under several metres of vegetation for unknown millennia, only rediscovered within the last century. Then in 1906, a worker digging at the site made a discovery that has forever change how we look at the site. On the fifth deck of the Pyramid of the Sun, a thick layer of laminated mica covering an enormous area was unearthed. At that time, in 1906, mica was an invaluable resource highly priced on the world market. It is used for the construction of capacitors, and is considered an incredibly efficient electrical and thermal insulator, which has a melting point of over 1,100 degrees Celsius. Most of the Mica found in 1906 at Teotihuacan was unfortunately “robbed out,” subsequently sold at a great price to resource tycoons. Fortunately however, not all the Mica has disappeared from Teotihuacan. Today, there are still a few places where you can find the original Mica, carefully laid within the pyramids body. It seems, for some mysterious reason, the unknown builders of this great Ancient City, managed to extract and transport this Mica from far away, to be incorporated into the pyramids constructions. Mica is stable when exposed to electricity, light, moisture, and extreme temperatures. It has superior electrical properties as an insulator and as a dielectric, and can support an electrostatic field while dissipating minimal energy in the form of heat. According to tests carried out by the Viking Foundation, discoverer of one of the rooms coated with Mica, this valuable material has an unmistakable signature, allowing us to tell exactly where in the world it had originally been extracted. It was discovered that it had come from a region located more than 3,200 kilometres away within Brazil. This in of itself is an enigma according to academically defended paradigms… The only real purpose, it would seem, for the use of such an exotic material, is for the management of electrical currents. A theory, thankfully, more and more talented minds are beginning to look at seriously. As a result, we may finally unravel one of the greatest mysteries still plaguing the modern man… What were the pyramids built for?

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLlYCwYnM3k U.S. space agency NASA announced the discovery of more than 200 new planets on Monday, 10 of which are believed to be about the right size and temperature to support life. Of the 219 new suspected planets to have been discovered by NASA's Kepler telescope, 10 were found to exist in the so-called 'Goldilocks zone' of their solar system. This refers to the distance between the planet and their star, which is neither too hot nor too cold to support complex life. The presence of liquid water on these "rocky" Earth-like planets is seen as a key ingredient required for the existence of life. "Are we alone? Maybe Kepler today has told us indirectly, although we need confirmation, that we are probably not alone," Mario Perez, Kepler program scientist, said at a news conference. NASA launched the Kepler telescope in 2009 in a bid to discover whether other Earth-like planets are common or rare. The latest identification of suspected exoplanets – planets outside our own solar system – brings the tally discovered by the Kepler telescope to 4,034. The number of worlds thought to be approximately the same size and temperature as Earth is around 50.

Warnings about canada weather, canada travel, canada life, and canada people. Just how dangerous is Canada? Avoid the most dangerous cities, most dangerous animal. Shows why you should consult the Canada Lightning Danger Map. Canadian travel alerts issued by the foreign offices of the United States, Australia and Great Britain classify the country of Canada from coast to coast, as a dangerous destination for tourists. Hidden dangers are ready to do you in at the top of the world. A dangerous new opiod drug which users call "Grey Death" is hitting Canadian streets. So-called because it resembles powdered concrete, Grey Death is a mixture of the designer drug U-47700 and the drug dealer's choice of opiod, be it heroin or fentanyl or carfentanil, the elephant sedative. One hundred and thirty cases of fatal overdoses were reported last year. Whereas Grey Death may be of concern only to addicts and the department of health, the rate of other crimes commited against the public has risen in Canadian cities for the first time in 15 years. You are most likely to have your identity stolen in Longueuil, Quebec. Most likely to be robbed face to face in Winnipeg. And you have the best chance of becoming a victim of a homicide in Wood Buffalo, Alberta. As Canada is second in land mass only to Russia, one might consider hiding from crime in the wilderness between cities... but this would be a mistake. According to the Canadian Automobile Association, her highways are falling to pieces. The highway most prone to crumbling is in the bleak Northwest Territories. A group of highly paid truckers transport food and other supplies to the miners of diamonds in the north. They travel a rugged barren highway composed partly of frozen earth. The other eighty-five percent of the road lies over frozen lakes. The road from Tibbitt to Contwoyto is the most dangerous route in the world. Even in a cold snap of winter the ice can break at any time and swallow a truck. The Great White North is brimming with wildlife. The animal considered the biggest threat is the ferocious Grizzly Bear. Mothers in defense of their cubs are responsible for 70% of Grizzly-related human fatalities. Responsible for the remaining 30% are bears who are just having a bad day. They are twelve feet tall, with jaws that can crush living bone and claws as sharp as razors. They like meat. They like it raw. Those who live in Canada are taught that the best way to fight a Grizzly is to run away. In Canada one should also avoid spiders, such as the Hobo Spider, whose venom is more toxic than that of a rattlesnake. The Hobo is brown in color and marked with golden chevrons on its back. It likes to hide under wood piles and is very fond of house basements, where it spins its web in the cracks between the bricks. The Hobo Spider is very aggressive and its bite can take months to heal. Symptoms include migraine-like headaches lasting up to a week and loss of memory. You will want to remember a vacation in Canada. But if you want to return home, avoid the caves, of which there are thousands, most of which do not appear on any map. All but the most hardcore of spelunkers are advised to steer clear of Arctomys Cave, located in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia. The depth of Arctomys is over a half kilometer. In 1991 an experienced caver and Park Ranger, Rick Blak, was struck by a falling boulder deep in the cave. The effort to reclaim his body involved one hundred and ten people in a complex recovery. Lightning strikes are so abundant in Canada that a special government website is dedicated to tracking them in real time. The first two victims this year were a woman who was struck near her home while walking a dog and a city resident who was hit by lightning in a parking lot. Online, the Canadian Lightning Danger Map highlights locations in red where one is at greatest risk of being struck by lightning... within the next 10 minutes. environment canada weather travel life people dangerous danger most dangerous cities in most dangerous city in most dangerous animal in dangerous animals in dangerous offender canada lightning danger map weather travel life people british columbia police facts vacation crime nature jokes Canada sucks Canada us war explained is really big dope License links may all be found at https://creativecommons.org

Description 1.Wittenoom,Western Australia Wittenoom is a ghost town 1,106 kilometres (687 mi) north-north-east of Perth in the Hamersley Range in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The area around Wittenoom was mainly pastoral until the 1930s when mining began in the area. By 1939, major mining had begun in Yampire Gorge, which was subsequently closed in 1943 when mining began in Wittenoom Gorge. In 1947 a company town was built, and by the 1950s it was Pilbara's largest town. During the 1950s and early 1960s Wittenoom was Australia's only supplier of blue asbestos. The town was shut down in 1966 due to unprofitability and growing health concerns from asbestos mining in the area. Today, three residents still live in the town, which receives no government services. In December 2006, the Government of Western Australia announced that the town's official status would be removed, and in June 2007, Jon Ford, the Minister for Regional Development, announced that the townsite had officially been degazetted. The town's name was removed from official maps and road signs and the Shire of Ashburton is able to close roads that lead to contaminated areas. The Wittenoom steering committee met in April 2013 to finalise closure of the town, limit access to the area and raise awareness of the risks. Details of how that would be achieved were to be determined but it would likely necessitate removing the town's remaining residents, converting freehold land to crown land, demolishing houses and closing or rerouting roads. By 2015 six residents remained; in 2016 the number had reduced to three. 2.Kantubek Uzbekistan Kantubek (Russian: Кантубек) was a town on Vozrozhdeniya Island (Uzbekistan) in the Aral Sea. The town is still found on maps, but is uninhabited and lies in ruins today. Kantubek used to have a population of approximately 1,500, and housed scientists and employees of the Soviet Union's top-secret Aralsk-7 biological weapons research and test site. Brian Hayes, a biochemical engineer with the United States Department of Defense's Threat Reduction Agency, led an expedition in the spring and summer of 2002 to neutralize what was believed to be the world's largest anthrax dumping grounds. His team of 113 people neutralized between 100 and 200 tonnes of anthrax over a three-month period. The cost of the cleanup operation was approximately US$5,000,000. 3.Love Canal,Niagara falls Love Canal is a neighborhood within Niagara Falls, New York. It is the site of a pollution disaster that extensively affected the health of hundreds of its residents, necessitating a Superfund cleanup operation. Originally intended in the 1890s as a planned model community, Love Canal grew and then slowly declined before being bought out in the 1940s by the Hooker Company, which dumped industrial waste in the never completed canal. In the late 1970s, Love Canal received national attention for the public health problem originating from the disposal of 22,000 barrels of toxic waste. Numerous families were displaced from their houses, which had been contaminated with chemicals and toxic waste. Many of the families suffered several health issues with common problems of high red blood cell counts and indications of leukemia. The entire neighborhood has since been demolished and a Superfund cleanup was only wrapped up in 2004. New York State Health Department Commissioner David Axelrod calls the Love Canal incident a "national symbol of a failure to exercise a sense of concern for future generations". The Love Canal incident was especially significant as a situation where the inhabitants "overflowed into the wastes instead of the other way around. 4,Picher, Oklahoma Picher is a ghost town and former city in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, United States. This was a major national center of lead and zinc mining at the heart of the Tri-State Mining District. More than a century of unrestricted subsurface excavation dangerously undermined most of Picher's town buildings and left giant piles of toxic metal-contaminated mine tailings (known as chat) heaped throughout the area. The discovery of the cave-in risks, groundwater contamination, and health effects associated with the chat piles and subsurface shafts resulted in the site being included in 1980 in the Tar Creek Superfund Site by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The state collaborated on mitigation and remediation measures, but a 1996 study found that 34% of the children in Picher suffered from lead poisoning due to these environmental effects, which could result in lifelong neurological problems. Eventually the EPA and the state of Oklahoma agreed to a mandatory evacuation and buyout of the entire township. The similarly contaminated satellite towns of Treece, Kansas and Cardin, Oklahoma were included in the Tar Creek Superfund site.

If there was anywhere on earth where crashed, preserved, ancient alien technologies could still be found, it would be here. An untouched landscape which may in all possibility be the final resting place of as yet, un-retrieved relics, which have been stranded there to this day. The deep sea which surrounds Antarctic for example, are some of the most difficult and inhospitable environments to explore anywhere. Far away from the modern world, deep within the frigid, pitch black waters of this massive chunk of ice, where our next discovery was miraculously made. An out of place artefact which is still resting at the bottom of this sea. Known as the Eltanin Antenna, if it wasn’t for the brute strength of the nearly 2000 tonne ice breaking vessel known as the Eltanin, we may never have found it. Initially a US Navy as a cargo-carrying icebreaker, in 1962, she was reclassified as an Oceanographic Research Ship, and became the world's first dedicated Antarctic research vessel. On the 29th of August 1964, while collecting sample cores and photographing the seabed west of Cape Horn, the Eltanin took the first known photograph of the antenna at a depth of nearly 4000 metres. The first public mention of the unusual object would not surface for several months, a news item which appeared in the New Zealand Herald on 5 December 1964, under the heading "Puzzle Picture From the Sea Bed" would briefly disclose the discover, yet any further exploratory missions, if indeed there has been any, have been operating in secret. Similar to the Baltic sea anomaly, yet positioned at a far deeper depth, in an extremely remote, cold, and lonely part of our world, it too shows all the hallmarks of an artificially created object, the question is, what could it be? And more importantly, whats was, or is, its function? How was it placed where it is? In 1968, author Brad Steiger wrote an article for Saga magazine in which he claimed that the Eltanin had in fact photographed "an astonishing piece of machinery... very much like the cross between a TV antenna and a telemetry antenna". It is interesting to note that the black knight satellite, an anomalous object which is in a polar orbit, has been declared by numerous investigators throughout history, as an artificial “alien satellite”, and with what appears to be an enormous alien antenna resting on the Antarctic sea floor, is it possible that the two are connected? Or possibly, in communication with each other? In 2003 Tom DeMary, a researcher in underwater acoustics, contacted oceanographer A. F. Amos, a member of the Eltaninins crew the 1960s, in an effort to debunk any theory involving artificial design. In turn Amos referred DeMary to the 1971 book “The Face of the Deep” by Bruce C. Heezen and Charles D. Hollister. It seems Hollister had already attempted to identify the mysterious object as a carnivorous sea sponge. However, these attempts to discredit any unusual hypothesis, was solely based on the same photographs we are privileged to, further photographic exploration of the object, if undertaken, has been done in complete isolation from the public. What is the Eltanin antenna? A mere sea sponge? An actual alien antenna? Whatever it is, it seems certain fields of study would like you to believe its natural, regardless of whether confirmation of such claims was made, we always find this highly compelling. Amazingly, it is still within the public domain, one of the rare gems which provides proof of a lost history here on earth. A history filled with the rise of countless civilizations, and with them, their fruitful development in a vast array of once advanced, and now lost technologies. The mechanism was first discovered in 1900 by a group of sponge divers within the Antikythera shipwreck, just off Point Glyphadia, near the Greek island of Antikythera. Amongst the wreck were numerous large relics, including bronze and marble statues, jewellery, and other precious artefacts, it was clearly valuable cargo at the time of its sinking. Subsequently transferred to the National Museum of Archaeology in Athens, the mechanism was merely a lump of corroded bronze and wood at the time, and went unnoticed for over two years. However, on 17 May 1902, archaeologist Valerios Stais found that one of the pieces had a gear wheel embedded in it. He initially believed that it was an astronomical clock, however, now, most scholars reluctantly perceive the device to be “prochronistic,” too complex to have been constructed during the same period as the other pieces that had been discovered, yet also of clear antiquity. It is simply unexplainable within the rigid boundaries of academically held paradigm. After exhaustive reconstruction efforts since, it has been confirmed to have once been an ancient analogue computer, an orrery used to predict astronomical positions, and an extremely long term, complex calendar for astrological purposes. Just how did an ancient Greek cargo ship end up with such a complex and clearly advanced piece of equipment on board? Was this mechanism, at the time of the Greeks, an ancient, retrieved, intact artefact? That even during their time in history was an artefact of great antiquity, originally owned by a long lost civilisation? Or judging by the astronomical connections, was this mechanism once, not of this world? It would seem, amazingly, that the latter possibility now has a more compelling detail, which has only recently come to light. Over the past few years it seems, even more fascinating secrets surrounding this once amazing mechanism, have slowly been revealed. Mysterious inscriptions found upon the face of the object were once indecipherable, but not anymore… Modern technology has allowed us to reveal the seemingly impossible, and has shown that these mysterious writings, actually appear to form part of an elaborate instruction manual used to unlock its true potential. However, what is astonishing regarding these inscriptions, is the fact that they were indeed written in ancient Greek, and with many modern fields of study unable to accept the premise that ancient Greece was capable of such craftmanship, or indeed possessed such technology, you have to ask, was this mechanism a gift from the gods? http://uk.businessinsider.com/antikythera-mechanism-new-inscriptions-2016-7?r=US&IR=T https://www.livescience.com/55143-antikythera-mechanism-inscriptions-photos.html

Broken Landscape: In rural India, the demand for coal has drastically altered the environment and the lives of those who depend on it. Unregulated 'rat-hole' mining serves the economy, but endangers both landscape and livelihood. “This place was pure and clean before. We used the river for drinking and cooking.” One fisherman recalls with painful nostalgia his memories of the river the village used to enjoy. “Now the people do not touch it. They are repulsed by it.” This is the result of the thousands of small-hold mines in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. They have run with no restriction – until now. The National Green Tribunal recently shut down mining in the region at the expense of the local economy, leading to coal mine owners and workers staging protests. With coal in such high demand, India has been forced to chose between economy and environment. The explosion at the Japanese nuclear power plant has given new fuel to a long-running dispute in Germany, where tens of thousands demonstrated on Saturday against plans to extend the life of the country's nuclear power stations. According to the police, some 50 000 people took part in the protest which saw a human chain spread from a nuclear power plant in Neckarwestheim to the city of Stuttgart. Those participating in the demonstration said it was time for the German government to move away from nuclear power. ... http://www.euronews.net/
