Malaysia Landslide

03:10
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnAfY5H-8E&feature=player_embedded# (link to TV program in USA ) landslide occur at Seaside Malaysia on 1993 year, this video was taken on the spot at that time. That year, I received a call by the owner of a tin mine (the element tin, not tin as in cans...). He said that his mine, which had been running for a few decades, was about to collapse. I rushed to the scene with my video camera and waited for a few hours. Finally, I took this valuable footage. Although the footage lasted only a few minutes, it is horribly exciting enough. I hope that this video can let you all appreciate the consequence of ruining our environment." 当年,我接到一名锡矿矿主的电话,说他经营几十年的矿场就要土崩堤解,我即刻拿起录影机火速赶到现场,苦等了几个小时,终于,让我拍到珍贵的镜头。虽然只有短短几分钟的录相片短,但足让旁观者心跳一百,希望这套短 片能让各界的朋友反思环境遭破坏的后果。

CSB Safety Video: Anatomy of a Disaster

55:34
Anatomy of a Disaster tells the story of one of the worst industrial accidents in recent U.S. history--the March 23, 2005, explosion at the BP refinery in Texas City, Texas, which killed 15 workers, injured 180 others, and caused billions of dollars in economic losses. The U.S. Chemical Safety Board, an independent federal agency, investigated the accident. The CSB produced this video in March 2008 based on its comprehensive 341-page public report issued in 2007. The video includes a nine-minute animation detailing the events leading up to the blast. It features interviews with members of the CSB investigative team who spent two years studying the causes of the accident. Outside safety experts Prof. Trevor Kletz (Texas A&M University and Loughborough University, UK), Prof. Andrew Hopkins (Australian National University), and Mr. Glenn Erwin (United Steelworkers) provide insightful commentary on the significance of the accident to the world's petrochemical industry. The CSB believes that an understanding of the key findings, recommendations, and lessons from this investigation will help prevent future accidents. To learn more about this and other CSB investigations, please visit CSB.gov.

Hazards Around Bins And Hoppers 1978 Mine Safety & Health Administration

15:05
more at http://quickfound.net "Emphasizes the safety of those who must work around bins and hoppers and acquaints them with the potential hazards of entering these and other material storage areas. Encourages workers to follow the safe and correct operating procedures that apply to their jobs." Public domain film from the US National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining#Safety Safety has long been a concern in the mining business especially in sub-surface mining. The Courrières mine disaster, Europe's worst mining accident, involved the death of 1,099 miners in Northern France on March 10, 1906. This disaster was surpassed only by the Benxihu Colliery accident in China on April 26, 1942, which killed 1,549 miners. While mining today is substantially safer than it was in previous decades, mining accidents still occur. Government figures indicate that 5,000 Chinese miners die in accidents each year, while other reports have suggested a figure as high as 20,000. Mining accidents continue worldwide, including accidents causing dozens of fatalities at a time such as the 2007 Ulyanovskaya Mine disaster in Russia, the 2009 Heilongjiang mine explosion in China, and the 2010 Upper Big Branch Mine disaster in the United States. Mining ventilation is a significant safety concern for many miners. Poor ventilation inside sub-surface mines causes exposure to harmful gases, heat, and dust, which can cause illness, injury, and death. The concentration of methane and other airborne contaminants underground can generally be controlled by dilution (ventilation), capture before entering the host air stream (methane drainage), or isolation (seals and stoppings). Rock dusts, including coal dust and silicon dust, can cause long-term lung problems including silicosis, asbestosis, and pneumoconiosis (also known as miners lung or black lung disease). A ventilation system is set up to force a stream of air through the working areas of the mine. The air circulation necessary for effective ventilation of a mine is generated by one or more large mine fans, usually located above ground. Air flows in one direction only, making circuits through the mine such that each main work area constantly receives a supply of fresh air. Watering down in coal mines also helps to keep dust levels down: by spraying the machine with water and filtering the dust-laden water with a scrubber fan, miners can successfully trap the dust. Gases in mines can poison the workers or displace the oxygen in the mine, causing asphyxiation... Ignited methane gas is a common source of explosions in coal mines... Miners utilize equipment strong enough to break through extremely hard layers of the Earth's crust. This equipment, combined with the closed work space in which underground miners work, can cause hearing loss... Since mining entails removing dirt and rock from its natural location, thereby creating large empty pits, rooms, and tunnels, cave-ins as well as ground and rock falls are a major concern within mines. Modern techniques for timbering and bracing walls and ceilings within sub-surface mines have reduced the number of fatalities due to cave-ins, but ground falls continue to represent up to 50% of mining fatalities. Even in cases where mine collapses are not instantly fatal, they can trap mine workers deep underground. Cases such as these often lead to high-profile rescue efforts, such as when 33 Chilean miners were trapped deep underground for 69 days in 2010. High temperatures and humidity may result in heat-related illnesses, including heat stroke, which can be fatal. The presence of heavy equipment in confined spaces also poses a risk to miners. To improve the safety of mine workers, modern mines use automation and remote operation including, for example, such equipment as automated loaders and remotely operated rockbreakers. However, despite modern improvements to safety practices, mining remains a dangerous occupation throughout the world...

11 Things Found After Japanese Tsunami

07:42
Some of the craziest things will wash up after a big storm like an entire yacht on top of a building and soccer ball across the country! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 6. A Japanese Dock This piece of debris happened to be part of a Japanese dock that was torn from its moorings during the tsunami and washed up on the shores of Oregon and brought back what researchers believe to be about 100 tons of sea life. Scientists from the Oregon State University state that the 66-foot-long deck has around 13 pounds of organisms per square foot. The dock did not show any signs of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown caused by the tsunami, but it did pose the threat of carrying invasive species. What that means is that these creatures that aren’t natives to the area could potentially throw the local ecosystems out of whack and cause irreparable damage to the native wildlife, such as the dread zebra mussel. 5. A Mystery Creature There have been some unusual things that have washed up on random shores after tsunamis, this being one of them. After the 2011 tsunami hit, this giant white mass had been washed out onto the shore of Japan and had many of the locals, along with everyone who watched this video on YouTube, wondering what it even was? Some thought it to be a brand new creature that had risen from the dark depths of the ocean floor while others speculated it was merely a large rock or boulder. Don’t worry, officials have concluded that this isn’t some new species that’s going to wipe us out. They simply stated that it’s most likely just a mass of whale blubber from the carcass of a dead whale that’s pretty much unrecognizable. 4. A Shipping Tote Back in November of 2014, this shipping tote had washed up near the shores of Seal Rock in Oregon. This 4-by-5 foot plastic shipping tote had been floating out at sea for the last 3 years since the tsunami struck and amassed around 200 blue mussels that were attached to it. Like the dock that was found in 2012, this tote was a potential host for carrying invasive species and scientist eventually determined it as a non-threat to the surrounding environment. Still, the amount of debris, the total estimated to be around 18.11 million tons with 70 percent of the debris sinking to the bottom of the ocean, is still rather high and is still washing up years after that tragic event took place. 3. Various Trash A barge from the fishing town of Ucluelet in British Columbia had carried in around “super sacks” of debris caused by the tsunami. Those sacks are designed to hold up to 1,000 pounds, so you can only imagine how heavy all that weight could possibly be. Ever since the tsunami struck, there have been volunteer pickups in the town where local and Japanese students have gotten involved. They’ve managed to collect all different sorts of garbage such as styrofoam, pieces of Japanese houses, and other debris. Though they’ve made progress, their results haven’t been achieved through smooth sailing. The coastline of Ucluelet is described as remote and rugged which made the cleanups very difficult and the fact that there was already debris unrelated to the tsunami already there makes for even more trash than expected. 2. An Entire Ship This yacht happened to be discovered in the Iwate Prefecture in Northeastern Japan in the town of Otsuchi nearly two months after the tsunami had hit. The ship weighs in at an incredible 200 tons and it’s a huge surprise that the two-story building that is supporting all that weight is still somehow managing to keep from collapsing. It’s hard to even process the amount of force needed to lift the ship. 1. A House As one of the most powerful and deadly disasters that can occur in nature, the tsunami is one that leaves devastation in its wake. Their sheer force can only be imagined by those who have never witnessed what it can be capable of at first hand and even then you can never come close to doing it justice. Take for example this house that was a part of the Fukushima debris. This was someone’s entire home where they built a life for themselves around it and in a matter of moments, it was swept off its foundation and carried out into the sea, along with what is estimated to be another 200,000 buildings.

Bio-Geo-Alchemy: Biogeotechnical Carbonate Precipitation - 2016 Buchanan Lecture by E. Kavazanjian

02:43:57
"Bio-Geo-Alchemy: Biogeotechnical Carbonate Precipitation for Hazard Mitigation and Ground Improvement" Presented October 14, 2016 by Edward Kavazanjian, Jr., Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, NAE Begins at 1:14:28 Also presented: 2015 Terzaghi Lecture, "The Evolution of Specialty Geotechnical Construction Techniques" by Donald Bruce, Ph.D., C.Eng, L. G., L.E.G.,. D.GE, M.ASCE Begins at 7:00 Program: https://ceprofs.civil.tamu.edu/briaud/Buchanan%20Web/Twenty-Fourth%20Buchanan%20Lecture%20Booklet.pdf While the ancient alchemists strove to change lead into gold, modern day bio-geo-alchemists strive to turn sand into sandstone. The bio-geo-alchemy technology that has gained the most attention over the past 15 years is bio-mediated calcium carbonate precipitation hydrolysis of urea (ureolysis), wherein microbes are used to induce precipitation of calcium carbonate (preferably calcite) in granular soils, turning cohesionless sand into a sandstone-like material. More recent research has looked at using other microbially-mediated processes (e.g., reduction of nitrogen, or denitrification) and bio-inspired ureolysis using an agriculturally-derived enzyme to precipitate carbonate in soil. Successes in laboratory testing and limited field trials suggest that these techniques can non-disruptively mitigate the potential for earthquake-induced liquefaction under and around existing facilities, control fugitive dust, and replace Portland cement as a binder in a variety of infrastructure construction applications. Induced carbonate precipitation is just one of many technologies currently being explored in the emerging field of biogeotechnical engineering, including development of root-inspired earth reinforcement and foundation systems, in situ creation of barriers to contaminant transport, soil and groundwater contaminant transformation or sequestration, enhanced soil penetration systems, and motile subsurface investigation probes. The Spencer J. Buchanan Lecture Series on the GeoChannel is presented by the Geo-Institute of ASCE. At night it provides power through a highly efficient bank of batteries composed of packs based on need. The whole system operates swiftly and easily following minor training outlines in our operating manual. The system can be pushed in and out of the container in a short time to ensure secure and safe storage. Solar Panels, once inside the container, are protected against the elements from heavy weather, including sandstorms, theft, vandalism, and sabotage. COMPACT IN SIZE HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN USE Solar energy is abundant. It is not a scarce commodity, so let’s harness it and save our planet from polluting fossil fuels and highly volatile oil prices as well as contribute to enhanced ecology and the green economy. Mobile Solar Energy Station Multicon System provides new solutions for an independent operator in remote areas, villages, rural communities, small municipalities, agricultural regions, and small towns. It promises economic and environmental gains at an unprecedented scale to enhance communities, even in decentralized locations, and their economic development. With its mobile flexibility to move anywhere and quickly, it is pollutant-free and cost-efficient with short pay back periods. Along with its concealed intelligent energy management system, it has highly efficient solar panels which can be pushed out and mounted in a short time. It also has a highly efficient battery system for durable and long life that ensures a high performance. After sunset and in cloudy weather the batteries continuously provide a non-stop electricity supply for up to two days. MULTI-CONTAINER , MULTI-SOLUTIONS Due to its mobility and flexibility, the multi-container system is adaptable to various operational sites and multi-geographical locations worldwide. Its solution offers short and long term electricity supply as support for (like a power sub-station) or replacement of electrical grids or outdated polluting diesel generators. Possible operation sites: Rapid Intervention Forces; field hospitals in remote areas during outbreaks of disease, war zones and refugee crisis; mining, industrial, and natural disaster areas; firefighting; large construction sites or hotel complexes in remote islands. MSES also offers multiple solutions for water crises, from drought to irrigation problems and water desalination. A SINGLE CONTAINER, MANY ADVANTAGES After a brief operating induction/ instruction about the multi-container, the system is operated according to a plug-and-play principle, which makes it user friendly. The payback period varies from 15-25 years depending on consumption and production. Delivery worldwide can be initiated within six weeks from placing a firm order with our group headquarters. No preparatory work is needed at the place of assembly or operation, just a solid, flat, and clean surface. The photovoltaic output and the battery capacity can be adjusted if required. All materials are recyclable, so it creates no waste, no pollution, no noise, and no CO2 emissions. If required, the multi-container can be removed quickly from one site to another.

In 1958, an earthquake-induced rockslide into Lituya Bay (Alaska) carried and pushed water up to an elevation of 523 meters. This splash is often referred to as the "World's Biggest Tsunami". Whether splash or tsunami, the Lituya Bay landslide and wave are remarkable geophysical events. This movie is a physics-based simulation of these happenings as constrained by the best available information. See a scientific paper here... http://es.ucsc.edu/~ward/papers/Lituya.pdf

If you want to have this luxurious experience, you have to include this in your application so as to receive an appropriate invoice with your application. Our accommodation is limited and this always dictates the number of trainees at any single moment that we can intake
The Gold Rush and the 1906 Earthquake

01:09:30
The Gold Rush and the 1906 Earthquake: How they combined to create the breakthrough discovery of modern seismic science Presenter: Ross S. Stein, USGS Scientist Emeritus, Consulting Professor of Geophysics at Stanford University. - Accidents of Gold Rush merchant marine navigation transformed a seismic disaster into a seminal discovery and led to San Francisco's extreme liquefaction vulnerability today. - Just about everything that we love about the Bay area is brought to us by the faults. We enjoy their daily fruits and so must live with their occasional spoils. - No one knows when the next damaging quake will strike; we must frame the ‘payback period’ for seismic expenditures in terms of chance.

Inside the Superhuman World of the Iceman

39:44
Wim Hof first caught the attention of scientists when he proved he was able to use meditation to stay submerged in ice for 1 hour and 53 minutes without his core body temperature changing. Since then, he’s climbed Mount Everest in his shorts, resisted altitude sickness, completed a marathon in the Namib Desert with no water and proven under a laboratory setting that he’s able to influence his autonomic nervous system and immune system at will. Almost everything Wim has done was previously thought to be impossible - but he’s not a freak of nature. To demonstrate that any human can learn his methods, Wim offered to teach Matt Shea and Daisy-May Hudson to climb a freezing cold mountain in their shorts without getting cold. But when Matt and Daisy signed up for the training, they had no idea that the so-called Iceman was planning to lead them on a psychedelic journey across Europe that circled the chasm between science, spirituality and mystery. AIR POLLUTION- A New Disaster #DELHI | Reasons behind Air Pollution | Impact & Remidies |

25:18
Environmental Science: High School Learning: Air Pollution ~Topics Covered What is Air and Air Pollution? Causes Of Air Pollution Impact Of Air Pollution Remedies ~Air And Air Pollution -Air: mixture of various components like carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor or trace gases (less in quantity for example Argon,Xenon,Helium,Neon,Krypton). -composition of gases: nitrogen (78.08%);Oxygen(20.95%);Carbon Dioxide(0.038);Hydrogen(0.00005%) etc -Air Pollution: any change in the composition of the gases, which have harmful effects on the environment,is called as “Air Pollution”. ~What is the cause of Air Pollution? -Air Pollution is caused due to “Air Pollutants”. Air pollutant are the substances in the air which have an adverse effect on humans and ecosystem. -these pollutant can be any of the following: methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, etc. -these pollutants can either be solid, liquid or in a form of gas, naturally produced or man made. -six common pollutants are: ground level ozone, lead, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter. -kinds of pollutants: *Primary pollutants: produced from processes such as ash from volcanic eruption, vehicle exhaustion etc.For example:carbon monoxide (CO),nitric oxide(NO),sulphur dioxide (SO2),nitrogen dioxide(NO2),ammonia(NH3),particulates(PM),volatile organic compounds(VOCs). *Secondary Pollutants: not emitted directly from the environment rather are formed in the air after primary pollutants react or interact with some other pollutants. These are produced from the primary pollutants. For example:sulphur trioxide(SO3),ntric acid(HNO3),hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),sulphuric acid(H2SO4),particulates,ozone(PM),ammonium(NH4+). -there may be pollutants which might fall under both the categories ~Sources Of Air Pollutants 1. Natural: dust particles, gases released from the body processes, pollen dispersal, smoke from wildfires, volcanos, natural radioactivity . (Each point discussed). 2. Man-made:burning of fossil fuels, agricultural activities, landfill activities, exhaust from factories and industries, mining operation, artificial radioactivity.(Each point discussed). ~Impact Of Air Pollution Effect/ Impact on Environment 1. Global Warming: 2. Acid Rain 3. Green House Effect 4. Hole in Ozone Effect/Impact on Human Health 1. Irritation,Bronchitis,Headache 2. Reduced capacity of blood to carry oxygen 3. Decrease in vision and causing cardio vascular disorders 4. CO and No react with hemoglobin and reduced O2 carrying capacity of blood 5. Headache and nausea 6. Lung problems 7. Asthma 8. Damage to heart, brain, eyes 9. Heavy metals like lead causing poisoning Effect/Impact on Plants 1. Decreased yield 2. Bad quality of crop production 3. Decreased growth rate and increased death rate of plants Effect/Impact on Wildlife 1. Loss of habitat and natural environment 2. Pollutants in air, forcing the species to move further away 3. Chemicals in water affecting marine life 4. Death ~Remedies 1. Creating awareness among people involving the “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” slogan. *awareness points * -ensure area near you is clean -plant trees along busy streets as they remove particulates, carbon dioxide and absorb noise. -make use of wind energy and solar energy,as well as other renewable energy,to minimize burning of fossil fuels -encouraging people to use public transport, walk or use a cycle -regular check up of our vehicles -selection of suitable fuel -industries and waste disposal sites should be situated outside the city -adapt to good industrial process and practices -destroying the pollutants by thermal or catalytic combustion Videos by Edupedia World(www.edupediaworld.com),Online Education, Click on (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJumA3phskPHbFiHVbEv4ak5U_HKv0-K1) for more Videos. All Rights Reserved.

How to know Dendrobium Orchid canes are mature + Proper seasoning

06:04
It is autumn and, theoretically, it is the season when Dendrobium nobile canes are mature. How to know when they have matured? What if they did not mature until now? ▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼ A mature Dendrobium cane is recognizable by looking at the top portion. If there are no more leaves forming and instead you can see a round nubbin, the cane has matured. At this point the rest can start to be induced. But what if the orchid did not stop growing until now? well we still need to water and fertilize until all the canes are mature. My orchids are terribly off season due to the prolonged summer I have here. We can still hit 34 degrees Celsius in the day time. Thus I have all stages of growth on mine at the moment. In time they will adapt to the environment, provided you do offer seasonal variations. If these variations don;t occur, particularly the winter one, you can end up with a brand new cane starting to grow in winter. It will take longer to grow, it will have less light available and will possibly be a smaller growth than usual. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✿ Want to send me something? The Lost Hotel 5....More TROLLS...an arrowhead...and an alcohol induced gasolene fire......

08:28
Yeah the TROLLS were back.....but I still managed some cool finds... The full story. These PUKES went to the historical society and posed as being friends of mine last week. They asked where the site was and said I told them to MD there to help me out while I was working.....They are PUKES.....They also behaved like ASSHOLES when I tried to talk to them....They lied to me a few days ago when I introduced myself to them by saying they were from a town 15 miles away and happened across this park and thought they would give it a try...they followed me when I detected so I couldn't detect....and also Lied to the historical society to gain information.....I don't know about you, but I have ethics and common decency....I would never piggyback on a site I know someone is working on. I would ask any detectorist I saw where they plan on detecting so I would not get in their way and even try to join forces, which is what I tried to do with these PUKES at first. It was very obvious they were watching my videos as they called me by name to the people at the historical society....I found all this out yesterday....
