Paul Davies - Would Intelligent Aliens Undermine God?

04:49
Whether alien intelligences exist has profound implications for religion. We are either alone or not alone in the universe, but no matter the ultimate answer, theists and atheists will each mold that answer to fit their opposing world views. Why Socrates Hated Democracy

What is FAIRNESS DOCTRINE? What does FAIRNESS DOCTRINE mean? FAIRNESS DOCTRINE meaning & explanation

What is FAIRNESS DOCTRINE? What does FAIRNESS DOCTRINE mean? FAIRNESS DOCTRINE meaning - FAIRNESS DOCTRINE definition - FAIRNESS DOCTRINE explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was — in the Commission's view — honest, equitable, and balanced. The FCC, which was believed to have been under pressure from then President Ronald Reagan, eliminated the Doctrine in 1987. The FCC formally removed the language that implemented the Doctrine, in August 2011. The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows, or editorials. The doctrine did not require equal time for opposing views but required that contrasting viewpoints be presented. The demise of this FCC rule has been considered by some to be a contributing factor for the rising level of party polarization in the United States. The main agenda for the doctrine was to ensure that viewers were exposed to a diversity of viewpoints. In 1969 the United States Supreme Court upheld the FCC's general right to enforce the Fairness Doctrine where channels were limited. But the courts did not rule that the FCC was obliged to do so. The courts reasoned that the scarcity of the broadcast spectrum, which limited the opportunity for access to the airwaves, created a need for the Doctrine. However, the proliferation of cable television, multiple channels within cable, public-access channels, and the Internet have eroded this argument, since there are plenty of places for ordinary individuals to make public comments on controversial issues at low or no cost at all. The Fairness Doctrine should not be confused with the equal-time rule. The Fairness Doctrine deals with discussion of controversial issues, while the equal-time rule deals only with political candidates.

This was designed as a compromise that ended 30 years of conflict and violence in Northern Ireland between Nationalist and Unionist paramilitaries. Today, Brexit means that the UK needs to close its borders and the issue of the Irish border is one of the hardest things to negotiate with the EU. Closing this border could undermine the compromise that kept the peace for 20 years. To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view. MEETING THE ENEMY A feminist comes to terms with the Men's Rights movement | Cassie Jaye | TEDxMarin

14:48
By facing long-held assumptions, one woman reevaluates her own gender biases. Documentary Filmmaker, The Red Pill Cassie Jaye founded Jaye Bird Productions in 2008, which has since produced a collection of documentary films that have been praised for being thought-provoking, entertaining and respectful in representing multiple competing views within each film. Jaye is known for tackling complex and often controversial subject matters. Her latest film is The Red Pill. Prior to “The Red Pill”, Jaye’s most notable films were the award winning feature documentaries “Daddy I Do” (which examined the Abstinence-Only Movement versus Comprehensive Sex Education) and “The Right to Love: An American Family” (which followed one family’s activism fighting for same-sex marriage rights in California). Both films showed that Jaye’s interview style is to allow people to share their views honestly, openly and candidly while allowing audiences to come to their own conclusions. http://theredpillmovie.com/about-the-filmmaker/ ~~ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Dangerous People Are Teaching Your Kids

Dangerous people are filling the heads of young people with dangerous nonsense. Who are these people? They are what Jordan Peterson calls “the post-modernists:” neo-Marxist professors who dominate our colleges and universities. And here’s the worst part: we are financing these nihilists with tax dollars, alumni gifts and tuition payments. Time to wise up. They are indoctrinating young minds throughout the West with their resentment-ridden ideology. They have made it their life's mission to undermine Western civilization itself, which they regard as corrupt, oppressive and “patriarchal.” If you're a taxpayer—or paying for your kid's liberal arts degree—you're underwriting this gang of nihilists. You're supporting ideologues who claim that all truth is subjective; that all sex differences are socially constructed; and that Western imperialism is the sole source of all Third World problems. They are the post-modernists, pushing “progressive” activism at a college near you. They produce the mobs that violently shut down campus speakers; the language police who enshrine into law use of fabricated gender pronouns; and the deans whose livelihoods depend on madly rooting out discrimination where little or none exists. Their thinking took hold in Western universities in the ‘60s and ‘70s, when the true believers of the radical left became the professors of today. And now we rack up education-related debt—not so that our children learn to think critically, write clearly, or speak properly, but so they can model their mentors' destructive agenda. It's now possible to complete an English degree and never encounter Shakespeare—one of those dead white males whose works underlie our “society of oppression.” To understand and oppose the post-modernists, the ideas by which they orient themselves must be clearly identified. First is their new unholy trinity of diversity, equity and inclusion. Diversity is defined not by opinion, but by race, ethnicity or sexual identity; equity is no longer the laudable goal of equality of opportunity, but the insistence on equality of outcome; and inclusion is the use of identity-based quotas to attain this misconceived state of equity. All the classic rights of the West are to be considered secondary to these new values. Take, for example, freedom of speech—the very pillar of democracy. The post-modernists refuse to believe that people of good will can exchange ideas and reach consensus. Their world is instead a Hobbesian nightmare of identity groups warring for power. They don't see ideas that run contrary to their ideology as simply incorrect. They see them as integral to the oppressive system they wish to supplant, and consider it a moral obligation to stifle and constrain their expression. And JBP did it without being a bull or being aggressive. So how do we get respect without being a bully? Well, we often think that getting respect and being aggressive go hand in hand. Because unfortunately, it’s often the bully that gets the most respect in the schoolyard and even in the workplace. But Jordan Peterson is an exemplar of a different way to generate massive amount of respect. So in this video we’re going to explore 3 main things he does that force people to respect you WITHOUT being a bully. Now, we focused a lot on respect in this video but that's actually just one out of four emotions that are going to create an amazing first impression on anyone cross-culturally. Now, if you're curious with the other three emotions that you want to create in that person are to make an amazing first impression, I made a video on that that breaks down what those four emotions are so that you can start using them today to consistently make killer first impressions. 0:30 Jordan Peterson calls it "pacing your reality" 4:50 Jordan Peterson tells stories effectively 6:54 Jordan Peterson uses archetypal stories Connect With Us Further: Website: http://www.charismaoncommand.com Facebook: http://facebook.com/charismaoncommand Instagram: @CharismaOnCommand Or if you want to see our personal stuff (regular life + playing music): Instagram: @CharlieHoupert Instagram: @IamBenAltman

The "Anti-Hate" Group That Is a Hate Group

For Students: http://l.prageru.com/29SgPaX JOIN our Educators Network! http://l.prageru.com/2c8vsff Script: Shutting down people you don’t agree with is about as un-American as you can get. Rigorous debate, honest discussion, open exchange of ideas—that’s the American way. But free thinking and speech are threatened today by a group with a sweet-sounding name that conceals a nefarious purpose. This group is called the Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC. Originally founded as a civil-rights law firm in 1971, the SPLC reinvented itself in the mid-‘80s as a political attack group. Every year now it produces a new list of people and charities it claims are “extremists” and “haters.” Aided by glowing coverage from the establishment media, the SPLC’s hate list has become a weapon for taking individuals and groups they disagree with and tarring them with ugly associations. The SPLC employs a two-pronged strategy: First, find a handful of crazies with barely any followers, no address, and no staff, and blow them up into a dangerous movement— proof that there are neo-Nazis lurking everywhere. On their notorious “Hate Map,” the SPLC lists 917 separate hate groups in the U.S.! No one has even heard of more than a handful of them. The second strategy of the SPLC is to undermine legitimate political voices that they oppose by associating them with extremists like the KKK. Take the charity known as the Alliance Defending Freedom. The SPLC lists them as a “hate group.” Is that fair? Well, the ADF has a network of 3,000 attorneys from all across the U.S. who’ve donated more than a million volunteer hours in defense of religious liberty. They’ve had a role in 49 victories at the U.S. Supreme Court. Putting the Alliance Defending Freedom on a list with 130 Ku Klux Klan chapters is not only wrong, it’s malicious. According to the SPLC, one of the most influential social scientists in the U.S.— Charles Murray—is a, quote, “white nationalist.” Ayaan Hirsi Ali, perhaps the most eloquent spokesperson for the rights of Muslim women, is, to the SPLC, a “toxic... anti-Muslim extremist.” Scores of other individuals and charities active in mainstream conservative or religious causes have likewise been branded by the Southern Poverty Law Center as threats to society. Mind you, it is entirely fair to disagree with any of those folks. But it is utterly unfair to call them haters or extremists. The largest category listed by the SPLC as extremists—with 623 entries—covers groups like the Tea Party organizations that are wary of centralized government. Last time we checked, favoring smaller government was a mainstream and perfectly honorable American tradition. What is not honorable is the course prescribed by a leader of the SPLC, Mark Potok, who was caught on video proclaiming the organization’s true intentions. He told a group of supporters, quote, “the press will describe us as ‘monitoring hate groups’…. I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them.” Portraying someone with political views different from your own as a public menace is bullying. And it’s a dangerous game. Instead of reducing hate and violence, the SPLC’s name-calling directly incites it. For the complete script, visit https://www.prageru.com/videos/anti-hate-group-hate-group

The dangers of Zac Poonen's teaching of Job 36:5, which undermines God’s Holiness & Justice

02:14
Though Zac Poonen said many things that I agree with. As we ought to be careful that we do not “look down” at others, or get “prideful” (as God hates pride Proverbs 6). But Poonen’s errs outweigh the good, and they’re too important to ignore (all in less than 2 minutes).  Brethren the Scriptures do not contradict each other, but sadly sometimes man does. Poonen minimizes God’s sovereignty, by implying that Jesus is unable to “give us victory,” because His victory is dependent upon us. That’s blasphemy. It appears that Poonen demonstrates an ecumenical view of “believers.” What is his definition of a “believer?” Hell will be full of believers (Matt 7:21-23, James 2:19). He hypocritically has a log in his own eye, as he “looks down on people” himself, as he inSINuates that Christians who discern err, or oppose evil (Eph 5:1-21), are all “prideful,” and/or are “looking down on them.” Brethren, contending for the faith (Jude 3), and defending sound doctrine, or opposing false teaching is Biblical (Titus 1:9, 2 Tim 3:16, 1 Tim 6:3-5, Gal 1:8 etcetera, etcetera). “Discernment is not a matter of simply telling the difference between right and wrong; rather it is telling the difference between right and almost right.” – Charles Spurgeon “Let us, then, cultivate an attitude of courage as over against the investigations of the day. None should be more zealous in them then we. None should be more quick to discern truth in every field, more hospitable to receive it, more loyal to follow it wherever it leads.” – B.B. Warfield If our intent is good, and if our motive is right, that’s not “looking down” at the person. Roman Catholicism and Islam are unbiblical religions. Roman Catholicism is not the “church” as Poonen stated. But worse, He defames the attributes, character, and holiness of God. Furthermore, Zac Poonen you have irresponsibly twisted the Lord’s Word out of context (Job 36:5), from what that Text is saying. Poonen says “your heavenly Father despises nobody.” Let us never forget that the same God that is infinite in love (for His elect bride) is infinite in wrath, and He “hates those that practice sin” (Psalm 5:5), and He is “angry with the wicked every day” (Psalm 7:11). Did Poonen forget that God will discriminate against the lost, as He sorts them out through His Theological Dragnet (Matthew 13:47-50)?  Has he forgotten about the Great White Throne Judgment? That God will “cast” them into the lake of fire (look up what that word “cast” means in the Greek). Did Poonen forget that it “pleased the Father” to kill His only Son (Isaiah 53). Has he forgotten that in the beginning, God killed all of mankind except for those that He allowed onto the Arc? Has he forgotten that a Biblical love “Abhors evil” (Romans 12:9). Has he forgotten that God’s amazing love is for His elect, and not for the lost? When “God so loved the world” (John 3:16), His amazing love is for a diverse populace of people from all over the world (His elect). His love for the lost is a mere benevolent love. Erroll Hulse once said, “How can we say God loves all men when the psalms tell us He hates the worker of iniquity (Ps. 5:5)? How can we maintain that God loves all when Paul says that He bears the objects of His wrath, being fitted for destruction, with great patience (Rom. 9:22)? Even more how can we possibly accept that God loves all men without exception when we survey the acts of God’s wrath in history? Think of the deluge which destroyed all but one family. Think of Sodom and Gomorrah. With so specific a chapter as Romans, which declares that sodomy is a sign of reprobation, could we possibly maintain that God loved the population of the two cities destroyed by fire? How can we possibly reconcile God’s love and His wrath? Would we deny the profundity of this problem?” Has Poonen forgotten that God will send the unsaved sinner to hell, where they will be under His Holy wrath for an eternity? Yes verse 5 does say “Behold, God is mighty, but despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.” But Poonen omitted verse 6, which says (warns) that God “He does not preserve the life of the wicked, but gives justice to the oppressed.” The wicked will be eternally punished. Yes it is true that God does not “despise” others as we can sometimes do. But a man’s despising of others is sinful, and God is sinless. God is not only sinless, He is unable to sin. God is unable to do man wrong. Christ will declare some righteous before the Father (His elect), and the rest will face the rightful justice that they deserve in hell. The same justice that I deserve, but by the grace of God He saved a wretch like me. Please got o the below link to read the rest of my analysis. https://www.theexpositor.tv/blog/watchman-alert-the-dangers-of-zac-poonens-eisegetical-teaching-of-job-365-which-undermines-gods-holiness-and-justice/ .

Why Election Day Should Be a Federal Holiday | Opinions | NowThis

01:43
Here are 3 great reasons why Election Day should be a federal holiday, according to Robert Reich. » Subscribe to NowThis: http://go.nowth.is/News_Subscribe Robert Reich: 'Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans oppose legislation that would make election day a federal holiday, claiming that it would be a power grab. Well, it would be a power grab—a power grab for the American people. Here are three reasons why Election Day should be a federal holiday. First, only 22 states require employers to give their workers paid time off to vote. In some states, employees are only given a few hours to make it to the polls, which means long lines and waits make voting impossible. Making Election Day a federal holiday would create a uniform standard across the country to encourage voting. Number 2: Most other democracies hold election day on the weekend, or have made election day a holiday to ensure the most people can get to the polls. Number 3: By making Election Day a holiday, we’d reinforce the importance of voting in the minds of Americans. Holidays are meant to signify important milestones, sacred moments in American life. If Columbus Day is a federal holiday, why not make Election Day one, too? Only Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans could twist something as well-intentioned as making Election Day a holiday, into a vast, left-wing conspiracy. The real reason they oppose making election day a holiday is that they don’t want to make it easier for people to vote. They know that the largest voting bloc in America is non-voters, who overwhelmingly oppose Republican tax cuts for the rich, and attempts by Republicans to undermine Social Security and Medicare. McConnell’s antics show how scared he is of giving the American people a real say in our democracy.' #RobertReich #ElectionDay #Elections #Politics Connect with NowThis » Like us on Facebook: http://go.nowth.is/News_Facebook » Tweet us on Twitter: http://go.nowth.is/News_Twitter » Follow us on Instagram: http://go.nowth.is/News_Instagram » Find us on Snapchat Discover: http://go.nowth.is/News_Snapchat NowThis is your premier news outlet providing you with all the videos you need to stay up to date on all the latest in trending news. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience. We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors. ------- The most up to date Atheist Experience videos can be found by visiting http://atheist-experience.com/archive/ You can read more about this show on the Atheist Experience blog: ► http://freethoughtblogs.com/axp/ WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE? What is ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT? What does ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT mean?

What is ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT? What does ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT mean? ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT meaning - ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT definition - ANTI-NUCLEAR MOVEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. The anti-nuclear movement is a social movement that opposes various nuclear technologies. Some direct action groups, environmental groups, and professional organisations have identified themselves with the movement at the local, national, and international level. Major anti-nuclear groups include Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service. The initial objective of the movement was nuclear disarmament, though since the late 1960s opposition has included the use of nuclear power. Many anti-nuclear groups oppose both nuclear power and nuclear weapons. The formation of green parties in the 1970s and 1980s was often a direct result of anti-nuclear politics. Scientists and diplomats have debated nuclear weapons policy since before the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The public became concerned about nuclear weapons testing from about 1954, following extensive nuclear testing in the Pacific. In 1963, many countries ratified the Partial Test Ban Treaty which prohibited atmospheric nuclear testing. Some local opposition to nuclear power emerged in the early 1960s, and in the late 1960s some members of the scientific community began to express their concerns. In the early 1970s, there were large protests about a proposed nuclear power plant in Wyhl, West Germany. The project was cancelled in 1975 and anti-nuclear success at Wyhl inspired opposition to nuclear power in other parts of Europe and North America. Nuclear power became an issue of major public protest in the 1970s. A protest against nuclear power occurred in July 1977 in Bilbao, Spain, with up to 200,000 people in attendance. Following the Three Mile Island accident in 1979, an anti-nuclear protest was held in New York City, involving 200,000 people. In 1981, Germany's largest anti-nuclear power demonstration took place to protest against the Brokdorf Nuclear Power Plant west of Hamburg; some 100,000 people came face to face with 10,000 police officers. The largest protest was held on June 12, 1982, when one million people demonstrated in New York City against nuclear weapons. A 1983 nuclear weapons protest in West Berlin had about 600,000 participants. In May 1986, following the Chernobyl disaster, an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 people marched in Rome to protest against the Italian nuclear program. In the US, public opposition preceded the shutdown of the Shoreham, Yankee Rowe, Millstone 1, Rancho Seco, Maine Yankee, and many other nuclear power plants. For many years after the 1986 Chernobyl disaster nuclear power was off the policy agenda in most countries, and the anti-nuclear power movement seemed to have won its case. Some anti-nuclear groups disbanded. In the 2000s (decade), however, following public relations activities by the nuclear industry, advances in nuclear reactor designs, and concerns about climate change, nuclear power issues came back into energy policy discussions in some countries. The 2011 Japanese nuclear accidents subsequently undermined the nuclear power industry's proposed renaissance and revived nuclear opposition worldwide, putting governments on the defensive. As of 2016, countries such as Australia, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Norway have no nuclear power stations and remain opposed to nuclear power. Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland are phasing-out nuclear power. Globally, more nuclear power reactors have closed than opened in recent years.

Prison For Refusing Gender Pronouns? Lawyer Explains Bill C-16, Compelled Speech, to Canadian Senate

09:01
Lawyer Jared Brown explains how you can be imprisoned for refusing to use invented gender pronouns, once Bill C-16 is passed by the Canadian Senate. Bill C-16 will also allow men to use women's washrooms and change rooms. The Senate will take its final vote on Bill C-16 as early as May 30. Please sign these two petitions to oppose Bill C-16, and to support the politicians who are resisting it: Petition #1 http://www.citizengo.org/en/sc/34701-sign-here-oppose-canadas-sweeping-new-transgender-legislation Petition #2 https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/index.php?p=Petition&id=13 Note that while these two petitions are oriented toward bathroom rights, it is the same Bill C-16 that is causing both problems: Enforced gender pronouns and trans-gender bathroom rights. Bill C-16 will make Canadians worry that they might be charged with hate speech crimes, if they criticize non-binary gender theories. By intimidating Canadians into silence, Bill C-16 will limit all Canadians' ability to oppose gender-neutral indoctrination in schools. Such indoctrination can be dangerously confusing for children. In addition, Bill C-16 will recognize in law, various non-binary gender theories that contradict overwhelming scientific evidence. After Bill C-16 is passed, the Department of Justice will add policies to the law that will likely allow men to use women's washrooms and change rooms across Canada. It will thereby deprive women of their right to privacy and safety. In addition, Bill C-16 will compel all Canadians to use invented gender pronouns. Thus, it will require Canadians to implicitly acknowledge gender theories that they disagree with. Disobeying this law could result in imprisonment, as lawyer Jared Brown has explained in his Senate testimony. Politicians who vote for Bill C-16 will be responsible for risking the mental health and normal sexual development of all Canadian children. Supporters of Bill C-16 will also be guilty of undermining all Canadians' freedom of speech. It is highly unethical to support Bill C-16, and all Canadian politicians should oppose it. What is WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY? What does WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY mean?

04:00
What is WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY? What does WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY mean? WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY meaning - WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY definition - WATER-FLUORIDATION CONTROVERSY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. The water fluoridation controversy arises from political, moral, ethical, economic, and safety concerns regarding the fluoridation of public water supplies. Public health authorities throughout the world find a medical consensus that water fluoridation at appropriate levels is a safe and effective means to prevent dental caries. Authorities' views on the most effective fluoride therapy for community prevention of tooth decay are mixed; some state water fluoridation is most effective, while others see no special advantage and prefer topical application strategies. Those opposed argue that water fluoridation has no or little cariostatic benefits, may cause serious health problems, is not effective enough to justify the costs, and pharmacologically obsolete. Water fluoridation pits the common good against individual rights. Some say the common good overrides individual rights, and equate it to vaccination and food fortification. Others say that individual rights override the common good, and say that individuals have no choice in the water that they drink, unless they drink more expensive bottled water, and some argue unequivocally, that it does not stand up to scrutiny relative to medical ethics. Opposition to fluoridation has existed since its initiation in the 1940s. During the 1950s and 1960s, conspiracy theorists claimed that fluoridation was a communist plot to undermine American public health. In recent years water fluoridation has become a prevalent health and political issue in many countries, resulting in some countries and communities discontinuing its use while others have expanded it. The controversy is propelled by a significant public opposition supported by a minority of professionals, which include researchers, dental and medical professionals, alternative medical practitioners, health food enthusiasts, a few religious groups (mostly Christian Scientists in the U.S.), and occasionally consumer groups and environmentalists. Organized political opposition has come from libertarians, the John Birch Society, and from groups like the Green parties in the UK and New Zealand. Proponents and opponents have been both criticized for overstating the benefits or overstating the risks, and understating the other, respectively. Systematic reviews have cited the lack of high quality research for the benefits and risks of water fluoridation and questions that are still unsettled. Researchers who oppose the practice state this as well. According to a 2013 Congressional Research Service report on fluoride in drinking water, these gaps in the fluoridation scientific literature fuel the controversy. Public water fluoridation was first practiced in 1945, in the US. As of 2012, 25 countries have artificial water fluoridation to varying degrees, 11 of them have more than 50% of their population drinking fluoridated water. A further 28 countries have water that is naturally fluoridated, though in many of them the fluoride is above the recommended safe level. As of 2012 about 435 million people worldwide (around 5.4% of the global population) received water fluoridated at the recommended level, nearly half of them living in the United States.

Ron Paul's Texas Straight Talk 5/2/16: Drafting Women Means Equality in Slavery

Buy Ron Paul's important new book "Swords into Plowshares" here: http://amzn.to/1I8RE1Z http://RonPaulCurriculum.com http://RonPaulLibertyReport.com http://RonPaulInstitute.org http://VoicesOfLiberty.com http://RonPaulMD.com http://The-FREE-Foundation.org http://facebook.com/ronpaul http://podcastone.com/Ron-Pauls-Podcast http://CampaignForLiberty.org http://YALiberty.org http://PopularLiberty.com http://FFF.org http://Mises.org http://LewRockwell.com Drafting Women Means Equality in Slavery by Ron Paul Last week the House Armed Services Committee approved an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act requiring women to register with Selective Service. This means that if Congress ever brings back the draft, women will be forcibly sent to war. The amendment is a response to the Pentagon’s decision to allow women to serve in combat. Supporters of drafting women point out that the ban on women in combat was the reason the Supreme Court upheld a male-only draft. Therefore, they argue, it is only logical to now force women to register for Selective Service. Besides, supporters of extending the draft point out, not all draftees are sent into combat. Most of those who opposed drafting women did so because they disagreed with women being eligible for combat positions, not because they opposed the military draft. Few, if any, in Congress are questioning the morality, constitutionality, and necessity of Selective Service registration. Thus, this debate is just another example of how few of our so-called “representatives” actually care about our liberty. Some proponents of a military draft justify it as “payback” for the freedom the government provides its citizens. Those who make this argument are embracing the collectivist premise that since our rights come from government, the government can take away those rights whether it suits their purposes. Thus supporters of the draft are turning their backs on the Declaration of Independence. While opposition to the draft is seen as a progressive or libertarian position, many conservatives, including Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater, and Robert Taft, where outspoken opponents of conscription. Unfortunately, the militarism that has led so many conservatives astray in foreign policy has also turned many of them into supporters of mandatory Selective Service registration. Yet many of these same conservatives strongly and correctly oppose mandatory gun registration. In a free society you should never have to register your child or your gun. Sadly, some opponents of the warfare state, including some libertarians, support the draft on the grounds that a draft would cause a mass uprising against the warfare state. Proponents of this view point to the draft’s role in galvanizing opposition to the Vietnam War. This argument ignores that fact that it took several years and the deaths of thousands of American draftees for the anti-Vietnam War movement to succeed. A variation on this argument is that drafting women will cause an antiwar backlash as Americans recoil form the idea of forcing mothers into combat. But does anyone think the government would draft mothers with young children? Reinstating the draft will not diminish the war party’s influence as long as the people continue to believe the war propaganda fed to them by the military-industrial complex’s media echo chamber. Changing the people’s attitude toward the warfare state and its propaganda organs is the only way to return to a foreign policy of peace and commerce with all. Even if the draft could serve as a check on the warfare state, those who support individual liberty should still oppose it. Libertarians who support violating individual rights to achieve a political goal, even a goal as noble as peace, undermine their arguments against non-aggression and thus discredit both our movement, and, more importantly, our philosophy. A military draft is one of -- if not the -- worst violations of individual rights committed by modern governments. The draft can also facilitate the growth of the warfare state by lowing the cost of militarism. All those who value peace, prosperity, and liberty must place opposition to the draft at the top of their agenda. -- Copyright © 2016 by RonPaul Institute. Liam Getreu Discusses Israel's Nation-State Law on ABC News The World

07:12
Recorded on ABC News channel's The World program, NIF Australia executive director Liam Getreu discusses Israel's new "Nation-State Law" with host Yvonne Yong. ### More information on this law at http://nif.li/nslsh ### A few hours ago the Knesset passed the ‘Nation-State Law’, the latest ‘basic law’ which forms Israel’s de facto constitution. This dangerous new law dismantles Israel’s founding status as a homeland for the Jews and a democratic state for all its citizens, replacing it with a singular vision of Israel as a Jewish state. It also sends a powerful message: non-Jews in Israel, some 20%+ of the population, are second-class citizens. While the most troubling parts of the bill were stripped at the last moment – including a provision that would instruct judges to consider halacha when making rulings, and one that allowed for exclusive communities based on religion or ethnicity – its core message of exclusion still has significant impact. Not only does the law remove Arabic’s status as an “official language” in Israel, it also makes no mention of Israel being a democracy. Daniel Sokatch, CEO of the New Israel Fund, wrote: "Beginning with Israel's Declaration of Independence, the Jewish value of human dignity and the principle of the equality of all people have formed the democratic foundation of the state. This law has betrayed those values. It is a slap in the face to Arab Palestinian citizens of Israel. Legislation that identifies first- and second-class citizens has no place in a democracy." NIF wasn’t alone in opposing this bill. President Reuven Rivlin warned that parts of the bill would “harm the Jewish people, Jews throughout the world and the State of Israel.” Labour leader and incoming chairman of the Jewish Agency Isaac “Bougie” Herzog wrote that he “fully shares the grave concerns ... for the damage that this bill will cause to Israeli society and Israeli democracy.” There is nothing wrong with Israel being a state for the Jewish people but that cannot come at the expense of its non-Jewish citizens. Israel’s liberal democratic characteristics – its embrace of a pluralist society, upholding of democratic norms and value of individual rights – are integral parts of its society. Undermining them undermines Israel’s Zionist vision. NIF is strident in its opposition to the effects of this harmful law and will be vigilant in ensuring it is not used to marginalise or discriminate against any Israeli citizen. Thank you for being part of our community.

Freedom of Speech: Why We NEED Academic Freedom - Learn Liberty

03:51
What are the threats to free speech and free inquiry on college campuses today? Learn more: http://lrnlbty.co/1izBCmC Academic Freedom—the ability to freely pursue knowledge and inquiry on campus—is under attack, and it’s important for students to push back. This is video explains why academic freedom matters. Academic freedom means the right of everyone in the academic community to pursue truth and wisdom, and to reach conclusions according to his or her own rights. Harvard students' Op-Ed is symptomatic of much broader trends across academia in recent decades. We've seen speech administrations establishing speech codes to tell students what they're allowed to say. And free speech zones to tell them where they're allowed to say it. This justification is usually to create a safe space for learning, but advocates forget that a fundamental way to learn is to encounter ideas with which you disagree. Encountering an argument you oppose will either shift your thinking, or broaden and deepen your understanding of your own beliefs. Either way, such encounters foster learning and critical thinking. And they help you to grow. But too many people on campus seem afraid to hear opinions that with which they disagree or which they find offensive. Lectures and panel discussions are getting cancelled or disrupted because some students have found the speakers objectionable. This includes speakers from across the political spectrum. Including Condoleezza Rice, Janet Napolitano, Charles Murray, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Christine Lagarde, George Will, and even the Chancellor of the University of California to name just a few. Such intolerance is harmful because it undermines the fundamental constitutional and moral right to speak your mind with intellectual honestly. But it's especially harmful on college campuses, where it suffocates the pursuit of truth that necessarily relies upon vibrant debate and varied research in order to breathe. You can't have free inquiry if some groups have been empowered to bully others into thinking like them. As the famous educator, Alexander Meiklejohn, wrote, to be afraid of an idea, any idea, is to be unfit for self-government. People who support free speech and open inquiry need to speak out and organize in order to save the principles of academic freedom and freedom of speech, which should be at the heart of any University. It's time for a new free speech movement. Peter Strozk testimony at House committee hearing resumes as FBI agent faces more questions

02:50:59
FBI official Peter Strzok gives testimony to a hearing of both the House Judiciary and House Oversight committees. Strzok is publicly defending his actions during investigations of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Strzok's anti-Trump text messages fueled suspicions of partisan bias over the course of the 2016 election and Hillary Clinton email investigation. Follow live: https://www.cbsnews.com/live-news/peter-strzok-fbi-testifies-congress-anti-trump-bias-before-house-panel-today-2018-07-12-live-updates/ Morning Testimony had been slowed by bitter partisan arguments among the members on the panels. Trey Gowdy's exchange with Strzok took up the majority of time at the very start of Thursday's hearing. At one point, after just one member had questioned Strzok, the panel voted on whether to subpoena former White House strategist Steve Bannon. What is CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL? What does CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL mean? CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL meaning

What is CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL? What does CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL mean? CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL meaning - CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL definition - CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Climate change denial, or global warming denial, is part of global warming controversy. It involves denial, dismissal, unwarranted doubt or contrarian views which depart from the scientific opinion on climate change, including the extent to which it is caused by humans, its impacts on nature and human society, or the potential of adaptation to global warming by human actions. In the global warming controversy, some deniers do endorse the term, but other often prefer the term climate change skepticism whereas scientists think it "inappropriate to allow those who deny to don the mantle of skeptics"; in effect, the two terms form a continuous, overlapping range of views, and generally have the same characteristics: both reject, to a greater or lesser extent, mainstream scientific opinion on climate change. Climate change denial can also be implicit, when individuals or social groups accept the science but fail to come to terms with it or to translate their acceptance into action. Several social science studies have analyzed these positions as forms of denialism. Campaigning to undermine public trust in climate science has been described as a "denial machine" of industrial, political and ideological interests, supported by conservative media and skeptical bloggers in manufacturing uncertainty about global warming. In the public debate, phrases such as climate skepticism have frequently been used with the same meaning as climate denialism. The labels are contested: those actively challenging climate science commonly describe themselves as "skeptics", but many do not comply with common standards of scientific skepticism and, regardless of evidence, persistently deny the validity of human caused global warming. Although scientific opinion on climate change is that human activity is extremely likely to be the primary driver of climate change, the politics of global warming have been affected by climate change denial, hindering efforts to prevent climate change and adapt to the warming climate. Those promoting denial commonly use rhetorical tactics to give the appearance of a scientific controversy where there is none. The climate change denial industry is most widespread in the United States, where the official Senate Environmental Committee is chaired by James Inhofe, who famously called climate change “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people” and claimed to have debunked it in 2015 when he took a snowball with him and threw it on the Senate floor. Organised campaigning to undermine public trust in climate science is associated with conservative economic policies and backed by industrial interests opposed to the regulation of CO2 emissions. Climate change denial has been associated with the fossil fuels lobby, the Koch brothers, industry advocates and libertarian think tanks, often in the United States. More than 90% of papers sceptical on climate change originate from right-wing think tanks. The total annual income of these climate change counter-movement-organizations is roughly $900 million. Between 2002 and 2010, nearly $120 million (L77 million) was anonymously donated via the Donors Trust and Donors Capital Fund to more than 100 organisations seeking to undermine the public perception of the science on climate change. In 2013 the Center for Media and Democracy reported that the State Policy Network (SPN), an umbrella group of 64 U.S. think tanks, had been lobbying on behalf of major corporations and conservative donors to oppose climate change regulation. Since the late 1970s, oil companies have published research broadly in line with the standard views on global warming. Despite this, oil companies organized a climate change denial campaign to disseminate public disinformation for several decades, leading to comparisons of this strategy to the organized denial of the hazards of tobacco smoking by tobacco companies.

Yanis Varoufakis: "And the Weak Suffer What They Must?" | Talks at Google

01:08:34
A titanic battle is being waged for Europe’s integrity and soul, with the forces of reason and humanism losing out to growing irrationality, authoritarianism, and malice, promoting inequality and austerity. The whole world has a stake in a victory for rationality, liberty, democracy, and humanism. In January 2015, Yanis Varoufakis, an economics professor teaching in Austin, Texas, was elected to the Greek parliament with more votes than any other member of parliament. He was appointed finance minister and, in the whirlwind five months that followed, everything he had warned about—the perils of the euro’s faulty design, the European Union’s shortsighted austerity policies, financialized crony capitalism, American complicity and rising authoritarianism—was confirmed as the “troika” (the European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund, and European Commission) stonewalled his efforts to resolve Greece’s economic crisis. Here, Varoufakis delivers a fresh look at the history of Europe’s crisis and America’s central role in it. He presents the ultimate case against austerity, proposing concrete policies for Europe that are necessary to address its crisis and avert contagion to America, China, and the rest of the world. With passionate, informative, and at times humorous prose, he warns that the implosion of an admittedly crisis–ridden and deeply irrational European monetary union should, and can, be avoided at all cost. Varoufakis is the Finance Minister of Greece. A Professor of Economic Theory at the University of Athens and a visiting professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin, he is the author of The Global Minotaur: America, the True Causes of the Financial Crisis and the Future of the World, among others. This Authors at Google talk was hosted by Boris Debic. eBook: https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Yanis_Varoufakis_And_the_Weak_Suffer_What_They_Mus?id=zRcJCAAAQBAJ

What is GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY? What does GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY mean?

03:26
What is GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY? What does GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY mean? GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY meaning - GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY definition - GLOBAL WARMING CONTROVERSY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. The global warming controversy concerns the public debate over whether global warming is occurring, how much has occurred in modern times, what has caused it, what its effects will be, whether any action should be taken to curb it, and if so what that action should be. In the scientific literature, there is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases. No scientific body of national or international standing disagrees with this view, though a few organizations with members in extractive industries hold non-committal positions. Disputes over the key scientific facts of global warming are more prevalent in the popular media than in the scientific literature, where such issues are treated as resolved, and more prevalent in the United States than globally. Political and popular debate concerning the existence and cause of climate change includes the reasons for the increase seen in the instrumental temperature record, whether the warming trend exceeds normal climatic variations, and whether human activities have contributed significantly to it. Scientists have resolved many of these questions decisively in favour of the view that the current warming trend exists and is ongoing, that human activity is the cause, and that it is without precedent in at least 2000 years. Public disputes that also reflect scientific debate include estimates of how responsive the climate system might be to any given level of greenhouse gases (climate sensitivity), how global climate change will play out at local and regional scales, and what the consequences of global warming will be. Global warming remains an issue of widespread political debate, often split along party political lines, especially in the United States. Many of the issues that are settled within the scientific community, such as human responsibility for global warming, remain the subject of politically or economically motivated attempts to downplay, dismiss or deny them – an ideological phenomenon categorised by academics and scientists as climate change denial. The sources of funding for those involved with climate science – both supporting and opposing mainstream scientific positions – have been questioned by both sides. There are debates about the best policy responses to the science, their cost-effectiveness and their urgency. Climate scientists, especially in the United States, have reported official and oil-industry pressure to censor or suppress their work and hide scientific data, with directives not to discuss the subject in public communications. Legal cases regarding global warming, its effects, and measures to reduce it have reached American courts. The fossil fuels lobby has been identified as overtly or covertly supporting efforts to undermine or discredit the scientific consensus on global warming.

Inclass with Mr. Quick: Section Topics: persuasion in Walden by Henry David Thoreau

10:52
Persuasive Techniques We use persuasive language to convince others to agree with our facts, share our values, accept our argument and conclusions, and adopt our way of thinking. There are many different ways to persuade people. Here are some of the more common: Appeals: One persuasive technique is appealing to the audience's: o Emotions o Fears o Desire to seem intelligent o Need to protect their family o Desire to fit in, to be accepted, to be loved o Desire to be an individual o Desire to follow a tradition o Desire to be wealthy or save money o Desire to be healthy o Desire to look good o Desire to protect animals and the environment o Pride in our country Often other persuasive techniques can also involve an appeal. Evidence: Using evidence is very persuasive as it makes the reader see the author as knowledgeable and the argument as more logical or reliable. Example: Statistics, expert opinions, research findings and anecdotal evidence. Attacks: Attacks on opposing views, or the people who hold them can persuade the audience by portraying views and beliefs which are contrary to the author's contrition as foolish, dangerous, uncaring or deceitful. Using humor to make fun of these views can be particularly persuasive. Note: can offend or alienate audience if overdone. Example: 'Town Hall? clown Hallif we consider the Mayor's latest comments.' Inclusive and Exclusive Language: Inclusive language such as 'we','our,,,us, and exclusive language such as 'them' can persuade by including the reader, or by creating a sense of solidarity or a sense of responsibility. Example: 'People like you and me don't want to see this happen' Rhetorical Questions: Rhetorical questions are questions that do not require and answer and are asked for effect only. They engage the audience and encourage them to consider the issue and accept the author's answer, or imply that the answer is so obvious that anyone who disagrees is foolish. Example: Do we want our children growing up in a world where they are threatened with violence on every street corner? Cause and effect: arguments may claim there is a cause and effect relationship when really there is just a relationship and other factors should be considered. Connotations: The connotation is the emotional meaning associated with the word. Persuasive authors often choose their words carefully so that the connotation suits their purpose. Example 1: 'Kill' and 'Slaughter' both mean the same thing, but the word 'slaughter' has a different connotation to 'kill', as it causes the audience to imagine that the act was particularly horrific. Example 2: 'Health issue' vs'health crisis' Example 3: 'Terrorist'vs 'freedom fighter'. Analogy: Analogy is a form of reasoning which compares one thing with another in order to make a particular point. Example: School is like a prison and students are like prisoners. Generalizations: Make sweeping statements about a whole group, based on only one or two members of that group. These can be persuasive if the audience believes the generalization is appropriate, but can undermine argument if they do not. Example: A store manager might see one or two teenagers shoplifting, and write a letter to the editor claiming all teenagers steal and can't be trusted. Humor: Humor, such as puns, irony, sarcasm, satire and jokes can be persuasive by dismissing opposing views, providing a more engaging and friendly tone, and sway an audience by having them enter into the joke. Example: 'Totally Artraged' as a pun on 'Totally Outraged' when talking about controversial art. Repetition: By repeating letters, words and phrases the author can reinforce an argument and ensure that the point of view being made stays in an audience's mind. Example: Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make Justice a reality for all of God's children. Hyperbole: The use of hyperbole emphasizes points by exaggerating. lt can be used to mock opposing opinions, as a shock tactics technique, or an appeal to fears. Example 1: Those who support this ridiculous idea would have us believe that it will dramatically improve the quality of life for modern living. Of course it will, And it will probably bring about world peace, stop pollution, and make the trains run on time! Example 2: Every weekend the city is overrun by beggars

Rep Steve King Immigrants Mostly 'Evil' Marijuana Smugglers With 'Calves the Size of Cantaloupes'

01:13
When ABC Univision host Jorge Ramos grilled Rep. Steve King (R-IA) for comparing immigrants to dogs in a year-old video this past Sunday, he likely hadn't seen this clip from an interview King gave just last week to Newsmax. In the far more recent video, King says undocumented immigrants are primarily "130 pounds" with "calves the size of cantaloupes because they've been hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert." King said he does have "sympathy" for the, in his view, small number of "kids who were brought into this country by their parents, unknowing that they were breaking the law. Of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., King admitted, "Some of them are valedictorians—and their parents brought them in. It wasn't their fault. It's true in some cases." But, he added, "they aren't all valedictorians. They weren't all brought in by their parents." "For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that--they weigh 130 pounds and they've got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert," King said. "Those people would be legalized with the same act.Until those promoting immigration reform can "define the difference between the innocent ones who have deep ties with America and those who have, I'll say, been undermining our culture and civilization and profiting from criminal acts," King said, "they should not advocate for amnesty for both good and evil." The congressman has not always had so much "sympathy" for those "valedictorian"-style immigrants. Just last month, King tweeted that "20 brazen self-professed illegal aliens" had "invaded" his DC office after a group of recent college grads showed up to ask him why he opposed the DREAM Act.

Wade and a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right." The group Stop Patriarchy takes this a few steps further, declaring that women should have access to abortion on demand and without apology: "Abortion is an issue that divides this country. This is no accident. How one thinks and feels about abortion flows fundamentally from how one views women. We recognize that women are full human beings who must have the right -- through unrestricted and unstigmatized access to birth control and abortion -- to decide for themselves when and whether they will have children. We reject the view that a woman's highest purpose and fundamental "duty" is to bear children, even those she does not want or cannot care for. For decades, a movement which calls itself "pro-life" has unleashed violence against abortion providers, shamed and humiliated women, and relentlessly restricted access to abortion, especially for poor women. Over 80% of abortion clinics have experienced violence, threats, or harassment; eight doctors and staff have been murdered. Today, 97% of rural counties have no abortion provider. One in four poor women who seeks an abortion cannot afford it and is forced to have a child she does not want. Five states have only one abortion clinic left." Two women who came out of the "Abortion closet" -- Katie Klabusich and Kelly Carlin, join host Dennis Trainor, Jr. to discuss what the world would look like if women were not forced to apologize for abortions. Kelly Carlin frames her experience of being a woman in the current cultural and political climate in the following way: "The bottom line is, as a woman, I don't feel safe in the world. I feel like an object. I feel like I could be raped or beaten at any moment. And I feel like I don't have real control over my destiny and my future. And I have to feel ashamed of my body and who I am. If I could wake up and know that my culture no longer thought those things about me, the world would be such an incredible place because women could actually feel the power they have to help solve the problems that this planet is facing right now." Katie Klabusich emphasized reclaiming the morality argument from the "bumper sticker right. Whether that means (shouting) abortion on demand without apology, or just walking around saying: I'm single, and I enjoy sex, and I will not apologize for that either! Whatever it is, there is a place within this movement for you." Is Fascism Right Or Left?

05:38
Every Republican president since the 1970s has been called a fascist. Ironic, no? After all, fascism has its roots in the left. Dinesh D'Souza, author of The Big Lie, explains. Every Republican president—for that matter, virtually every Republican—since the 1970s has been called a fascist; now, more than ever. This label is based on the idea that fascism is a phenomenon of the political right. The left says it is, and some self-styled white supremacists and neo-Nazis embrace the label. But are they correct? To answer this question, we have to ask what fascism really means: What is its underlying ideology? Where does it even come from? These are not easy questions to answer. We know the name of the philosopher of capitalism: Adam Smith. We know the name of the philosopher of Marxism: Karl Marx. But who’s the philosopher of fascism? Yes—exactly. You don’t know. Don’t feel bad. Almost no one knows. This is not because he doesn’t exist, but because historians, most of whom are on the political left, had to erase him from history in order to avoid confronting fascism’s actual beliefs. So, let me introduce him to you. His name is Giovanni Gentile. Born in 1875, he was one of the world’s most influential philosophers in the first half of the twentieth century. Gentile believed that there were two “diametrically opposed” types of democracy. One is liberal democracy, such as that of the United States, which Gentile dismisses as individualistic—too centered on liberty and personal rights—and therefore selfish. The other, the one Gentile recommends, is “true democracy,” in which individuals willingly subordinate themselves to the state. Like his philosophical mentor, Karl Marx, Gentile wanted to create a community that resembles the family, a community where we are “all in this together.” It’s easy to see the attraction of this idea. Indeed, it remains a common rhetorical theme of the left. For example, at the 1984 convention of the Democratic Party, the governor of New York, Mario Cuomo, likened America to an extended family where, through the government, people all take care of each other. Nothing’s changed. Thirty years later, a slogan of the 2012 Democratic Party convention was, “The government is the only thing we all belong to.” They might as well have been quoting Gentile. Now, remember, Gentile was a man of the left. He was a committed socialist. For Gentile, fascism is a form of socialism—indeed, its most workable form. While the socialism of Marx mobilizes people on the basis of class, fascism mobilizes people by appealing to their national identity as well as their class. Fascists are socialists with a national identity. German Fascists in the 1930s were called Nazis—basically a contraction of the term “national socialist.” For Gentile, all private action should be oriented to serve society; there is no distinction between the private interest and the public interest. Correctly understood, the two are identical. And who is the administrative arm of the society? It’s none other than the state. Consequently, to submit to society is to submit to the state—not just in economic matters, but in all matters. Since everything is political, the state gets to tell everyone how to think and what to do. For the complete script, visit https://www.prageru.com/videos/fascism-right-or-left
