Artisanal Gold Mining In Migori

31:23
The artisanal and small scale gold-mining economy provides an essential source of income for women, men and youth in Migori county. The sector is largely informal and faces extreme risks. The Migori County Artisanal Miners cooperative society (MINA) created the film to give artisanal gold miners a voice and to inform the process of formalization under the 2016 Mining Act for the benefit of miners and their families in Migori County. In 2018, MINA became the first formalized ASGM Cooperative in Kenya's mining history. In collaboration with Canadian International Resources and Development Institute (CIRDI), and supported by UNESCO/SIDA project on the environmental impacts of mining activities in Africa

Our trommels come in a wide variety of sizes, from smaller recreational units handled by one man to bigger ones for commercial gold panning operations and other commercial uses. They also can be used for recirculation units for use in areas with smaller amounts of water. some types act generally as a classifier with the revolving action being used to break up clay and separate any gold that might be caught in organic material or stuck to other rocks. Others are combined with a sluice or dredge to also separate the heavier items from the smaller materials. Email us for more information on gold prospecting trommels. They are used in mining to size, wash, and classify gold flakes and nuggets or other precious metals from larger sized waste materials. Gravel and sand are fed into the hopper and washed down into the trommel barrel, which rotates. As the barrel turns the material is washed with a steady stream of water from a spray bar and classified by screens or holes that are punched into the barrel. This causes the larger sized waste rock to be pushed out the end of the barrel and allows the gold to be circulated to a secondary recovery system such as a sluice or spiral wheel. These concentrates can be examined for gold at any time. Visit our website to see videos, pictures and view prices on our gold prospecting trommels.

Reclamation Gone South - Advance Mine

03:05
The Advance mine is abundant in history as a Gold mine up until the 1940s. In lieu of the World War 2 War-Minerals Act L-208, many mines of the era either re-branded as "essential" metals, or shutdown entirely. Fast forward to 2016 and the Advance Mine is no longer standing proud as she once was. Reclamation efforts have destroyed mining structures, backfilled adits, and left trash littered around the site. Unfortunately the artifact remnants of this mine’s history have largely been destroyed.

Gold dredging on the K river

My son and I went down to a river in Oklahoma to dredge for gold. This section of river is known to produce fine gold for panners, so we decided to try to get some bigger stuff down off the bedrock. To comply with the draconian YT regulations, I have edited this from the original to remove the background music and make it more boring.

Placer mining has over 250 year history literally starting on the United States of the East Coast in the late 1700s then moved to New Mexico, California, Nevada, Colorado, Alaska, among other western ore rich states. Reported in various official United States Bureau of Mines publications dating from the 1930s until today "placer gold can be found in virtually any area where gold occurs in hard rock (lode) deposits. The gold is released by weathering and stream or glacier action, carried by gravity and hydraulic action to some favorable point of deposition, and concentrated in the process. Usually the gold does not travel very far from the source, so knowledge of the location of the lode deposits is useful." Leia Michele Toovey in an exclusive article entitled YUKON: MODERN DAY GOLD RUSH in Gold Investing News reports that just in the Yukon region of Alaska, "Small placer gold mines operating in the region have a combined annual production of approximately 100,000 troy ounces. The total recorded gold production from 1885 to date is about 12.5 million ounces, a value of roughly US $15 billion at today's prices." A working placer mine involves everyone from children to grandparents. As witnessed by the writer during a recent on-site television production tour in Ridgecrest, California numerous Mojave Desert placer miners lead the world in safe and efficient gold recovery, while making significant contributions to the state and national economy. The United States Bureau of Land Management and the California Geological Survey have established regulations and legislation to ensure environmental stewardship, land reclamation, mining sites restoration, and protection of native flora and fauna. www.emerald-planet.orttp://tinyurl.com/6qphtxr (Facebook) http://twitter.com/#!/emeraldplanet1 (Twitter) http://tinyurl.com/7a2ru7f (Linkedin)
Gold Prospecting In Beach

02:56
Gold prospecting is the act of searching for new gold deposits. Methods used vary with the type of deposit sought and the resources of the prospector. Although traditionally a commercial activity, in some developed countries placer gold prospecting has also become a popular outdoor recreation. Prospecting for placer gold is normally done with a gold pan or similar instrument to wash free gold particles from loose surface sediment. Once placer gold is discovered, the gold pan is usually replaced by sluices or mechanical devices to wash greater volumes of material. Discovery of placer gold has often resulted in discovery of hardrock gold deposits when the placers are traced to their sources. A placer deposit is a concentration of a natural material that has accumulated in unconsolidated sediments of a stream bed, beach, or residual deposit. Gold derived by weathering or other process from lode deposits is likely to accumulate in placer deposits because of its weight and resistance to corrosion. In addition, its characteristically sun-yellow color makes it easily and quickly recognizable even in very small quantities. State Police Interrupt a Gold Mining Operation in Oregon!

15:39
Our mining claim neighbors called the Cops! People living on the other side of the river where our mining claim is and not liking our mining, called the cops. It appears our neighbors just did not want their liberal utopia disturbed so they call the cops to harass us. The police were very cool as I knew one of them from checking our permits on another river couple months earlier and an Oregon DEQ meeting he showed up at. The rude lady yells to at from other side of river "you need a permit to do that"...we had them of course. She also told cops we were disrespecful and rude to her...which was totally false. She made up her own narrative about what was happening to justify her being annoyed. Liberal tactic # 3, change the narrative or just plain lie! This is the short version of the video, filmed on the Applegate River in Oregon while we were LEGALLY GOLD MINING! In the video, it is a continuous video, shot on my GoPro camera that I was wearing on my head. The video shows me mining and moving around with no editing to show what actually goes on while mining. Then my buddy is helping me move rocks while I'm using a sub-surface dredge...then the cops show up , and I tell him is where the action starts. UPDATE Jan 1st, 2015: In response to some of the comments saying we are uneducated, rednecks and other stuff...the guys in the video are as follows. One is a millionaire CPA, another a self employed business owner, two others are also self employed and owns a body shop and the other an internet marketer and freelance videographer, and lastly one is the son of the CPA guy and currently in college. Oregon Mining Law: Next time this happens, I will ask the State Police to cite the offending people who disrupt our mining operation based on this Oregon Mining Law: "ORS 517.133 Interfering with a mining operation. (1) As used in this section, "lawful mining operation" means any small scale mining operation that is in full compliance with state and federal laws. (2) A person commits the crime of interfering with a mining operation if the person intentionally: (a) Interferes with a lawful mining operation; or (b) Stops, or causes to be stopped, a lawful mining operation. (3) Interfering with a mining operation is a Class C misdemeanor. [1999 c.354 §6]" Here is the GoPro camera I was using: http://amzn.to/19yYus6

Gold in Nevada: New Strike at Last Hope Mine 1927 Kinograms Newsreel

03:45
more at http://quickfound.net/ "New gold strike in Nevada." Silent. Public domain film from the Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_mining_in_Nevada Gold mining in Nevada, a state of the United States, is a major industry, and one of the largest sources of gold in the world. Nevada currently mines 79% of all the gold in the United States, which is equivalent to 5,640,000 troy ounces (175 t) in 2009. Total gold production from Nevada recorded from 1835 to 2008 totals 152,000,000 troy ounces (4,700 t), worth over US $228 billion at 2011 prices. Almost all the gold in Nevada comes from large open pit mining and cyanide heap leaching recovery... Unlike coal and oil extraction, where mining companies pay royalties for minerals obtained from public lands, gold mining companies do not pay any royalties for deposits claimed on federal public lands. This is because gold mines on public land operate under the General Mining Act of 1872. Although Nevada was known much more for silver in the 19th century, many of the early silver-mining districts also produced considerable quantities of gold. The Comstock Lode, for instance, produced 8,600,000 troy ounces (270 t) of gold through 1959, and the Eureka district produced 1,200,000 troy ounces (37 t). And the Robinson copper mine has produced well over 2,700,000 troy ounces (84 t) gold, along with over 4 billion pounds (1,500,000 tonnes) of copper... Carlin Trend Gold was discovered in the vicinity of Carlin in Eureka County in the 1870s, but production was small. Placer deposits were discovered in 1907, but the deposits were too small to cause much excitement. It was not until 1961 that the Newmont Mining Corporation found the large low-grade gold deposit at Carlin that the mining industry began to take notice. The Carlin mine began producing gold in 1965... It was not until the gold price shot up in the late 1970s that mining companies rushed to look for similar deposits. The Carlin Trend, part of what is also known as the Carlin Unconformity by geologists, is 5 miles (8 km) wide and 40 miles (60 km) long running northwest-southeast, has since produced more gold than any other mining district in the United States. The trend surpassed 50,000,000 troy ounces (1,600 t) of gold in 2002... Golden Fleece Mine (Nevada) The Golden Fleece Mine, Washoe County, Nevada, near Poeville site, was operated by the Golden Fleece Gold & Silver Mining Company, incorporated on February 2, 1875, which held one patented claim on the site. W. F. Stewart had published a geological report on the mine in 1879, which had an eight-foot vein of ore. The small mining site was located at latitude: 39.584753, longitude: -119.903055 and has received more interest from historical point of view, than for its yield of gold. Several other mines were operating in the Poeville Mining District during 1863 and mid 1880. Goldfield Goldfield was discovered in 1900, and began major gold production in 1902. The ore occurs in altered shear zones in Tertiary dacite and andesite. Total gold production through 1959 was 4,200,000 troy ounces (130 t). Robinson/Ely The Robinson district at Ely, Nevada produced about 3,000,000 troy ounces (93 t) of gold through 1990... http://nvghosttowns.topcities.com/pastpro/gilbert.htm The Hardscrabble district was first mined in the 1870s but it was short-lived and little was produced. During the 1880s, a small camp called Garfield, named after the recently assassinated President James Garfield, formed five miles south of the future location of Gilbert. The camp was located next to the Alto Divide mine at Cook Spring. A small mill operated there for many years. The first serious mining in the northern part of the district began in June 1896 when Herman Gilbert and Homer Thompson, searching for a rich lode Charles Lampson had found earlier but then lost the location of, located a new lode they named the Carrie mine. The partners moved a house from Candelaria to the mine. The mine proved most promising but in May 1900, the boom began at Tonopah and the two men headed there to seek their fortune leasing mines. Sadly, both died in 1905 before having the chance to return to work the Carrie mine. Gilbert's sons, Fred and Logan, returned in 1916 and leased the Carrie mine from the company formed to manage their father's and Thompson's estate. But in 1918, the brothers sold the mine and went to the booming Divide district, just south of Tonopah. Charles Lampson returned to the area in 1922 and after a couple of years, found an old marker he had placed on his discovery in the 1890s. He proclaimed the mine the Last Hope and showed the Gilbert brothers its location. The mine was officially located on September 10, 1924 but the public didn't find out about the new strike until October 30...

In this video, Cannabis in Canada Founding Director Jason Wilcox has an in-depth conversation with Owen Smith. In 2009, Smith was charged with producing a variety of editable products and cannabis extractions for the Cannabis Buyers’ Clubs of BC, in order to help medical patients alleviate suffering due to various illnesses. In August, the Court of Appeal for British Columbia issued a 2-1 decision in favour of the defense in the matter of R. v. Smith, in which the province’s highest court had given the federal government one year to change its regulations to permit the purchase of cannabis extracts. New Technology On Reprocessing Of Tailings

03:01
Our machine is designed based on Bagnold's shearing theory. When the pulp flow into our machine, multiple forces (eg. gravity force and pressure of shearing) will act on it. Due to the difference in density, the pulp will be separated and flow into respective sections. Our Advantages Environmental friendly: Our technology is based on gravity separation in compound force field. It is different from flotation separation. It will not pollute the environment. Energy saving: For the machine with a diameter of 4 meters, its energy consumption is only 1.1 kwh. The water consumption in the process also very low. Low infrastructure construction cost: Our machine does not cause significant oscillation. Very simple installation. It also does not require much assisted facilities.

Land claims program unpacked: Ntloko-Gobodo

06:38
It is estimated that at least 3.5-million South Africans were forcibly removed from their land as a result of the Native Land Act of 1913, which effectively reserved 87 percent of land in the country for the white minority. As a result the government launched a Land Restitution Program which was opened between 1994 and 1998. Although land claims were made and settled, a great number of people complained that they had not been aware of the process at the time and as such they had missed the initial lodgement window. The government has since re-launched another open window period for the land claims until June 2019. To unpack land claim issues further, in our studios , we are joined by the Chief Land Claims Commissioner, Ms Nomfundo Ntloko-Gobodo. Smelting and Gold Refining Part 1: Smelting sulfides and black sands to recover gold/silver

09:26
This is a video showing one potential way to recover the gold and silver values from the sulfide and black sand concentrates that come off our shaker table. These concentrates still can have appreciable gold values even when the free gold has been removed. When the concentrates to be smelted do not contain a sufficiently high precious metal content (between 25%-50% precious metals) a collector metal must be used to draw the precious metals to the bottom of the conical mold to ensure the recovery of the gold and silver. I have been using copper as a collector metal due to its low cost and ease of refining after smelting. I will be very interested to hear from you all what you think of the video and if you have any suggestions or tip for future smelts for higher recovery. Smelting and Gold Refining Part 3: Smelting the anode slimes and recovering the gold

05:04
This is the third and final installment of our smelting and gold refining series. In this last video we smelt the dried anode slimes and recover a button of precious metals. *** Gold recovery clarification. I wanted to mention the copper button with the ~8 grams of gold from the first video in this series was not used in part 2 and 3. I sent the first copper button to a refiner as a test piece to see if it was something they could refine and to find out what percent they would pay on the gold recovered. This is why there is not at least 8 grams of gold recovered in this final video. The material I smelted to recover the ~2 grams of gold in part 2 and 3 was from some other sulfides from a different source. Thanks to CoinSilver800 for pointing this out.**** ***I wanted to post this response here in the description too as it brings up some good points about this process and why I am using this method to recover the gold. This is in response to a comment by Greg Burnside, thanks for the comment Greg!: Thanks for the comment and question. I guess I should clarify a few things about this process and this is the perfect post to do it. My goal is to find an scale-able process for direct smelting hardrock gold ore concentrates from gravity separation (off our shaker table specifically, but could work with any concentrate) without any roasting or pre-treatment and end up with a salable product. By this process the roasting step can be eliminated which is very environmentally hazardous, is expensive to do in larger batches, and takes a lot of expensive equipment. Secondly, by direct smelting the handling is greatly reduced, ie take your shaker table cons, mix them with some flux and collector metal and smelt, pour your product. Now I should also mention here that the copper button I ended up with in the very first video is a perfectly salable product. AAA precious metals in Portland, OR paid me 80% of the gold value in that copper button (for nuggets, placer, etc. gold they pay 95% of the assayed value on batches under 100 oz for comparison). The second two videos (electroplating and slimes smelting) were mostly just an experiment to see if they would work and to try and end up with a gold product. Didn't quite work out like I planned, but I think with some more experimenting it could be done. Even if it does work its not easily scale-able, takes a long time, produces some by-product (sulfuric acid with heavy metal ions that needs to be disposed of) and only increases the value by 15%. Each operator will have to decide if the cost of further refining from a copper button is worth it, for me personally I think sell copper with 1-10% gold content for 80% value and be happy. I think in your original post you were hinting at the a wet chemical separation of the gold/values from the concentrates, correct me if I am wrong. So to answer the root of your question: gold concentrates are very tricky for wet chemistry methods. Unlike with electronics, gold plated jewelry, etc. in hardrock cons the gold values are not always available to the leach because they are encapsulated by the sulfide crystals. The free/liberated gold in the concentrates can easily be leached, but I have seen concentrates with only a 10% recovery rate by leaching due to this encapsulation problem. Some ores will be easily leached due to their high percentage of free gold, others will need to be treated in other ways. The fire assay is the universal way ores are tested for gold values. By melting everything to a liquid and collecting the precious metals in a button a very very high percentage of the precious metals can be recovered in the assay process and that is why it is still used today on all types of ores and by all companies. I am trying to essentially re-create the assay process on a large scale so no matter what type of ore concentrate you have (free gold, sulfide matrix, or a combo of both) you can recover a high percentage of the gold with minimal cost and have a easily salable, non toxic, product with minimal work and equipment. I plan to do another smelting video in the near future with a measured amount of gold and then assay the slag, matte, and copper button so we can see exactly where the precious metals ended up and what percent recovery can be accomplished by this method. Thanks again for the questions, we all learn from each other and by asking questions/clarifying and it is a great peer review process. Thanks again!*****

Sluicing North Saskatchewan River for gold prospecting

01:14
Prospecting for gold, on the North Saskatchewan River near Edmonton! Edmonton has a rich history of gold mining, used to be a time when a man could do an ounce of gold or more in a day. Gold was worth far less in those days, but today that would be a healthy amount. The fine gold in the river is known as flour gold, or float gold, and gets slowly replenished in the river every year. I am using a LeTrap highbanker with a 2" pump from Walmart (Cheap Hyundai pump, same as the ones at Princess Auto) Many claim to be able to recover an ounce of gold a week on the river around Edmonton, and northern Alberta. All major rivers in Alberta carry some amount of gold. Peace River, Athabasca, Smokey, and Red Rivers for sure. The gold can even be traced as far as Saskatchewan and to the Manitoba border in diminishing quantities. With a boat it is possible to access the less worked parts of the rivers, and work the paying gravel bars that few can get to. I have test panned down the river for a whole summer and only came across one other prospector! Lots of river for all.
