“If you lose the last game of the year, nobody cares how much you won during the regular season.” The Stories of Oakland A's 2001-02 and Liverpool F.C 2017-18: Oakland A's = Liverpool F.C New York Yankees = Real Madrid Billy Beane = Jurgen Klopp - Both Oakland As and Liverpool have great history in Championship series (4 times), and in Champions League (6 times) respectively - Both Clubs are suffering to win any league or championship in their relative history for years - Billy lost just previously to Yankees and Klopp lost his previous Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich. Both losing to rich clubs. - Billy lost their key players Jiambi, Damon and Isringhousen; and Livepool lost their key players Luis Suarez and Coutinho to Barcelona, and Borussia lost Lewa to Bayern Munich.. both with Klopp as manager - Both Oakland A's 2001-02 season and Livepool's 2017-18 season started at the bottom of the table in the league and climbed among the top of the table. This part of chronological events are THE MOST SIMILAR OF THEIR PARALLEL JOURNEY to the elimination stage. - Yet Again, Billy Beane lost the elimination game to New York Yankees and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final just today - Both managers remain yet to win their respective Championship and Champions League!

Liverpool is atm the best playing team in the Premiere League 😂

Nice analogy and all but simply isn't true. I'd say the Oakland athletics are closer to Southampton. Every year they develop brilliant players only for their team to get raided by the big boys. The only difference being, Southampton aren't making it to the finals of the champions league or vying for the top spot in the pl.

Do not judge this film based on the trailer up until 1:20. Up to this point makes this seem like a slapstick, hopelessly cringing comedy movie. In fact, this movie reinvented the way I coach and play in terms of my sport. It has a lesson for everyone, regardless of whether that lesson is in Business, sports, or life. If you've ever been a fan of the little guy, the plucky team punching above their weight. This movie is for you. Not only did they punch above their weight. They changed the game, and make more of an impact than near any other team in baseball.

here are the numbers, from the movie, how Moneyball was effective. In 2002, the A's and the Yankees each won 103 games. The Yankees spent 4.1 million per win while the A's spent $260,000 per win. Now that is cost effective baseball.

The biggest mistake Oakland made was revealing how they did it before they could take full advantage. Then everyone was doing it and the advantage was gone.

But if you think about it, all they did was simply replace one way of looking at the players with another way - so, they are still being judged on the basis of statistics. "OK loser, you're up to bat". The point is still, about winning games, and not so much about "keeping the team together". So, persons are still being traded away, or told to retire, for the sake of WINNING, rather than, ... well, we're a team .... so, whether you're a no-show, you're still one of us.... Was that not the message in that Gary Cooper movie about that guy suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease? He falls, in the locker room, but his teammates refuse to rush to help him - play, or do not play ... we're a team. That seemed ... well, I think that is how Donald Trump CLAIMS to run his organization (though, his TV show suggests otherwise - "you're fired!") : He refuses to fire employees for "messing up", out of loyalty, concern for the team, is how some articles portray his business empire..... From the movie, Suicide Squad : "Seriously, the hell is wrong with you people?" .... "We're the bad guys. It's what we do". Reminds me of the Bad News Bears. They were about "the team", and not so much about "winning". .... That said, it was interesting when they told the pitcher who could not pitch, not to worry about it, because he would now be playing First Base.

Edward Jones And now just like Giambi, Kante left in order to go to Chelsea.
Edward Jones (1 year ago)
lncey technically Kante was signed based on analysis. Most scouts didn't think much of him as they thought he was too short for a defensive midfielder. But Leicester used stats and so signed him dirt cheap. He won them the league

The baseball team couldn't win the final game..i didn't mean they did everything esactly the way in the film..what I meant was that they showed a small budget team can also win if everyone plays upto their potential as portrayed by the baseball team in this film..

Its a very interesting story actually. Even if your not into baseball. The whole transfers and philosophy behind sports clubs is very interesting. I would actually like to see a film like this done for English football teams trying to acheive the same thing as Billy Beane. Like Arsenal, Everton, Wigan or Swansea... Just my opinion.
Indaleci014 (6 years ago)
Never knew they made a movie about this.. as an A's fan, I been turned off to the MLB because of how unfair the playing field is.. seeing star players to star players being traded because they can't afford them. The beginning line of this clip fits the A's perfectly. Too many rich people control the MLB to make it a capped system.
